Excellent collection with multiple areas of expertise  5 Star Rating - World class

This is one of the best art museums I have ever been to. I would even go so far as to say that it rivals the Smithsonian.

They have many wonderful permamant exhibits as well as visiting pieces. If you're in Chicago for a weekend, make this on your "must hit" list. And if you live here, go many many times in order to fully appreciate everything. On every visit you'll discover something new.

PROS: Fabulous Art
CONS: Not a lot of places to sit and absorb the pieces

World class Art museum  5 Star Rating - World class

The Art Institute of Chicago is a world class Art museum. They have beautiful exhibits and wonderful classes.I brought my daughter who is 7yo. to a Saturday program the held.It was wonderful. They took the children to see a specific exhibit on masks and had a discussion with them.Afterward they took them back to an activity room and made masks with them using all kinds of craft supplies. This was a great experience for my daughter and myself and one we will always remember.

PROS: great programs

You can get a good art education here  4 Star Rating - Very good

This school is definitely a case of "you get out of it what you put into it." I think most applicants are accepted, so there is a wide variety of students. Some are there so they do not have to get a job, and they do very little work, but I found that if you want to get a good education, you will learn a lot. Very flexible schedules, a decent number of "older" students (between 25-30).

PROS: Most instructors are good
CONS: A number of unmotivated students

good art  5 Star Rating - World class

This is a world class art museum. It is best appreciated as a local. I find that it works best to see small parts of the museum in chunks. It allows you to really appreciate what you've seen.
