The library has lots of children's programs. They are geared to getting toddlers doing finger plays and creating art projects on school holidays. The program where ISU students help kids read is fine. The summer reading program is the best around as they have good prizes, good incentives. The media section is generally good, but there's a $1 charge per DVD for a week. YA section is improving. Could have more books. Check out the library's website, too, as there's a lot available without even going to the library. Parking is behind the library and nearby in the huge multi-deck parking lot. Get your parking pass stamped at the library, so parking can be free. Also, if you can't find what you want here, go to the Bloomington Public Library as these libraries have an unspoken agreement, it seems, that one library will be strong in on area and the other will be weak in that area. That seems to be why children's programming and media sections (for instance) are weaker at the BPL but it has better periodical section, business research, new books.

I was damaged at this Library in 2004 when a 3 foot metal sign fell from the ceiling. No one cared. No one helped me. I became disabled, homeless and had to leave town. No responsibility was taken. A librarian saw it happen. Didn't make a difference to these people. I will be talking about this for the rest of my life. I haven't even gotten started yet.

This library doesnt have as big a selection of books as I would like to see. I have a hard time finding books that interest me. I can hardly ever find new releases. The childrens section is nice with a discovery room and a loft for the kids to read in.

Normal Library has a great selection of books. Their staff are helpful and courteous. In the summertime Normal Public Library offers a summer reading program for the kids in which they can win prizes for reading. It is a great incentive to keep the kids reading over the summer. The only downside to the Normal Library is that they do not give any breaks for Library fines.
