I attended POW for multiple years and left not too long ago. The focus when I first joined was to help students develop martial art skills. It transitioned away from that to just make the students tired classes. Think Tae Bo with exercises thrown in to keep you sweating.

They have instructors with impressive credentials. However, they only care to help you develop your skills if you have potential of becoming a fighter or you're an attractive woman (to see how far they can get with her outside of class). They do have a woman instructor, but her focus is to keep people sweating. Students are always saying great workout, but you never really say "Yes I can successfully use this stuff in a real confrontation."

If you are just looking for a physical activity to stay in shape then you can get something out of POW.

I love this place!!! I have never had a class here that I did not like...Krav Maga, Boxing, Muay Thai, and BJJ. This place has it all and makes it all available to all members without exclusions. \r

I went to class, and one of their instructors (Lyndon) physically assaulted me, and shoved me out of class.

My offense? I rotated to the wrong station during the co-ed cardio conditioning class. He was infuriated, screaming that "You are doing what YOU want to do, instead of doing what I TELL YOU to do."

Keep in mind that there is loud music blasting out of the speakers, I was tired from the workout, and Lyndon speaks in a fast garbled manner, he's shifty and avoids eye contact, and he is yelling at me while facing away from me. It's like he was so insistent on making the point that I have to do what he tells me to do . . . . but then he wouldn't state clear instructions.

I think that he needs serious professional help. He is an emotional infant and highly anti-social. Keep in mind that this was a fairly casual cardio conditioning class, which means that it is basically aerobics. Come to his classes at your own risk.

I told him that I want to do what he is telling me to do, but I couldn't understand what he was saying. He responded by shoving me towards a spot that was out of view of the other class members, squared off on me, and challeneged me to a fight. ( I swear to god this is true.) Then he threatened to "punch me in the neck", and then to top it off. He told the receptionist that I threatened him.

Ok Lyndon. So let's get this straight. Your story is that: While you were teaching your aerobics class, an out of shape insurance actuary threatened you, a professional fighter. So you decided to physically eject him from the training area? Then you followed up with challengin him to a fight. That's your story? Really?

I emailed the Owner Kaitlin but did not get a response.

Pros: Brazilian Ju Jutsu/ Krav Maga/ MMA training, former UFC champion trains here

Cons: price, location

Very disorganized. Classes are all over the place, virtually anywhere. Students have to help preparing the class. New students are supposed to "blend in" all by themselves.
On my first day I told the instructor I was new to Muay Thai and he shrugged with sarcasm. I had a black eye as a result of not being told how to handle the pads correctly and then almost broke another student's foot for not being instructed how to hold the kick pads (he hit my elbow).
I had a severe, chronicle back issue and despite doctor's recommendation they did not let me out of the contract.
My impression is that they are there for the money only and you are just a number in their lawyers list.
I was so disappointed that I wrote off this loss (6x$130) as a bad mistake to be learned from.
