Once my sister found out how big the university in Illinois was, I called Durst cycle from Chicago and ordered her a new bicycle, lock, light, etc. The transaction went very smoothly and I couldn't be happier

I've purchased from Durst in the past and always had a good experience. This time was no exception. We appreciate the assistance and time taken to explain bicycle features and help us pick one out.

Happy that you took the time to explain everything to me. Two other area shops wouldn't even speak with us.

I wanted a bike with a more comfortable seat, but definately rugged enough for the trails. I also was able to find shoes for my spinning class that were comfortable. These stores are great and run by a great Christian family as well. I will be back, that is for sure.

They have almost anything that a cyclist might need in their stock, from shoes to jerseys to helmets. If it's not in stock, they'll order it.

I recently purchased a new treadmill and had it installed in my home. The staff was very helpful in showing their selection of treadmills as well as other types of equipment. The installers were very professional and were in and out in no time. I recommend Durst for purchasing fitness equipment.

I recently visited the Dust Cycle Shop located on University Avenue in Urbana and from the moment I walked into the store I was greeted and asked if I needed assistance. I admitted to the sales associate that I was new to biking and unfamiliar with bike construction and accessories and he took the time to answer all my questions. W when I bought a couple of accessories he took the time to show me on a storeroom bike as to how to attach them and even wrote out instructions as to how to use the gears on my bike. Later that day I visitied another local bicycle shop and was not offered the same level of assistance as I received at Durst. My experience at Durst can be described as nothing but outstanding and I will give them all of my future business.

I recently purchased a bike at the Durst Garage Sale. Got it home and was having issues with it not feeling right. This was my first 'geared' bike. Took it in, discovered I had purchased the wrong sized frame. The staff was wonderful. Fitted me with the correct size frame in the same model bike. Switched all my accessories over and had me riding correctly in 3 hours. I am so thankful they got me in the right bike and didn't charge me for my mistake. Would definitely recommend them!!!

Exellent experience! I have been shopping at Durst in Urbana, Il. for years and have always been pleased with the sales and service. This is my second major purchase my most recent was for a cardio machine that would not hurt my two bad knees and Jason was so helpful explaining the machines and what would be best for my circumstances. Very knowledgeable, polite, proffesional and just a really nice guy. No pressure and a pleasure to work with. I highly recomend Durst if you are in the market for a quality bike or exercise machines. Great service department too!!

I had some minor repairs needed on my bicycle and visited Durst Cycle. They were helpful in determining what repairs were needed and gave an estimate. The work was good and the turnaround time was better than the staff estimated. I would recommend this store for your cycling needs.

The staff at Durst Cycle set me up with a new road bike for a triathlon. They were very friendly, helpful and really cared about getting me the right bike. They also set me up the equipment and spent all the time needed showing me everything.

Durst's University Avenue shop (near the U of I campus) carries a full line of road and ""mountain"" bikes (hey - the closest mountain to this place is several hundred miles). You'll find some good quality bikes at the low end and you can also put together a custom setup for several hundred dollars.

Durst? Are you kidding me?! Never again! \n I went there because I didn't know any better, but do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake.\n The first time I went there, I asked to show me some larger bike models. The sales guy didn't know his own inventory, so after roaming the store he found one model, then gave me a catalog and disappeared! I couldn't find him anywhere, until I saw him talking to another customer! He never came back. \n Another time I went there because my freewheel became kind of sticky. I asked for advice on lubrication; a technician mumbled something incoherent and sold me a tube of grease for $13. It felt like he was annoyed by being asked to ""reveal his trade secret""; he would much rather have me bring my bike to the shop to charge an arm and a leg for simple maintenance.\n Well, guess what? According to Google, grease is too viscous for the job, and may result in parts of freewheel locking up and getting damaged under load. Instead, I needed a liquid lubricant. But when I brought it back, the store refused to issue a refund, referring to their ""no returns"" policy.\n\n So let's sum up what we've got, folks: \n * impolite, incompetent sales staff;\n * unhelpful technicians that either hold back advice or give one that's lousy or plain dangerous;\n * business model based on sticking you with useless pricey items, because you can't return them;\n * VERY limited selection of maintenance products;\n * high prices.\n\n Why would ANYONE use a business that is as bad as this?!

Pros: clean, well-lit, close to campus

Cons: rude, incompetent, unhelpful staff; way overpriced; no returns

This would by no means be the best choice to get your bike fixed, and definitely not the best place to purchase a bike. I brought my bike in here one time, and watched a mechanic blow a hole in my tire changing a spoke, and then he charged me for it saying something like "these things sometimes happen." He screwed a spoke nipple the wrong direction, and blew up the tube! Either learn how to fix a bike yourself or do anything you can to find a more honest shop. These guys have a monopoly so they can do anything they want once you hand your bike and credit card over to them.

Also, if you don't know anything about bikes do some research! This shop's top selling bike is a relatively new, cheap, poorly manufactured, but good selling bike. They will make all of their bikes sound better than they really are, and with this one in particular, its like taking candy from a baby. Again, just do some research before buying ANYTHING from them. Most of their prices are too high, and they will say anything and do anything to get you to buy.

I'd like to say there are other options in Urbana, but there aren't. You have to go to the next town over, but trust me, it's worth it.

They have almost anything that a cyclist might need in their stock, from shoes to jerseys to helmets. If it's not in stock, they'll order it. You may have difficulty in getting helped, but that seems to be the norm in C-U.

Prices are generally fair, but you can get good deals at their annual tent sale in the Spring.

They also carry a full line of exercise equipment such as treadmills, steppers, and ellipticals.

Much better than the Durst on S. Mattis, and usually easier to get waited on than at Champaign Cycles.
