This facility does most of it's business to the local citizenry. While seeming to recognize the current needs of the areas skills market, all too often the prerequisites over emphasize basic educational skiils rather than real world skills. Case in point... for an entry level programming class there's too much emphasis for math. While it may be a benefit, it's still not a required background to learn programming.

JJC fails to acknowledge the life skills one picks up in the workplace, therefore alienating many potential students that are not fresh out of high school. They also fail to offer adequate credit for skills learned outside of academia. It seems obvious that by placing typical requirements for their programs, they have a way of preventing creativity with program methodologies, and forces most potential students to have an educational background that's inside the proverbial box. Rather than keeping the focus on "Learning" it appears to demand students play their education game their way just to keep the dough rolling in.

Reading, writing and arithmetic are what they seem to do best.

PROS: For locals it's fairly cheap.
CONS: Less than creative program opportunities; slow to use new delivery modes.
