Definitely make a reservation for an evening at Boka. It has an absolutely beautifully decor and a wonderfully knowledgeable waitstaff. The duck breast and the mahi mahi were incredible, and the mac and cheese with edamame is a tradition in the Boka Restaurant Group. Anything from the dessert menu will be fantastic, but we did the dark chocolate cremeux...a fantastic choice.

Interesting, eclectic menu and lots of good wines. Kind of expensive. Servers are sort of smug. Still, I liked it and would go back.

We hosted a private dinner for 25 at Boka on a Thursday night. The staff was fantastic - everything was set up exactly as we had asked when we arrived and they were more than accommodating to all of our requests. We sat in their enclosed terrace area which was beautiful, charming and secluded. The food was amazing - each course was thoughtful, complex and delicious. Well worth the price.

Clean flavors, attentive staff and nice dining atmosphere.

We went to Alinea the evening before, which we thought would be the culinary highlight of our trip....but it wasnt. Who knew that a trip next door to its neighbors at Boka would be. We werent sure whether we shoud be overjoyed or disappointed.

Either way we love it here!

If you're a foody, you will appreciate the service and food at Boka. The menu seasonally changes, and is solid and pure. I would recommend Boka in a heart beat, and can't wait to try Perennial, their new restaurant. I eat primarily fish and seafood, never a issue finding something delicious to eat., the sides are amazing as well, don't miss them! My meat eating friends love the veal cheeks, and yes , even the sweetbreads went down very well. A must restaurant to go on a regular basis. Chef Giuseppe is on top of his game.

Buon appetite

Pros: Great location, amazing food, drinks, & service. What else do you want

Cons: Are you kidding, NO!

I recently dined at Boka only to be tricked into eating veal brains. My husband and I both ordered veal cheeks. When our server Alana described the dish she never said anything about veal brains. When we were served the plate we were given an item by item description and again nothing was said about veal brains. We both ate the small crispy item and then wondered what it was. When we questioned our server we were told that it was veal brains. Upon seeing the surprise on our faces we were told that if they had said what it was we wouldn't have eaten it. Then they laughed. We don't find it the least bit amusing. Such dishonesty shouldn't be tolerated. I wrote a letter to the owners and never even had the courtesy of a reply. I would never dine there again. Shameful.

Guiseppi Trentoro is the most amazing chef who combines ingredients the only way he can. The seared Muscovy duck breast is excellent as well as the black sesame crusted salmon. Pair those with the most knowledgeable waiter, Tony (yes, do request him), and follow with anything on the dessert menu. The warm cider donut sundae topped with vanilla gelato and mulled cider sauce is excellent but so would anything from the dessert wine menu.

I don't understand why there isn't more hype around this restaurant - it is far superior to other places that get more press. The menu is solid and built to please pretty much any palate. My family and friends, ranging from foodie to meat-and-potatoes, all love this place. My enthusiasm has not gone unnoticed - more than half of the times I've visited Boka, my table has received appetizers and desserts compliments of the house. Every time I've dined here my party has been treated so warmly, not to sound corny, but like we were special guests of the owner or chef (even though we weren't). When I went there for my birthday, they brought out a beautiful dessert plate with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate on the plate. The grilled bartlett pear salad, Chinese black rice (creamy and rich - not what you'd expect from a dish with this name), macaroni and cheese with edamame, and vegetable tart are what I'd recommend. Others I've dined with raved about the venison ("not gamey at all") and beef tenderloin. One of the most friendly, knowledgeable and helpful sommeliers I've ever encountered has been here. The decor is understated and beautiful and the music is at just the right volume. I've never had anything but a fantastic experience here and always look forward to returning.

I recently had dinner at Boka for the first time and was completly blown away by the impeccable service from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Even the hostesses were genuine while welcoming us to the restaurant and taking our coats. There was not a single person on the wait staff that was not warm and professional. I used to live across the street and somehow never made it to this restuarant, which although initially I was disappointed with this thought, but I now realize that this is probably a good thing because I would have wanted to have had dinner here every night!!! I will DEFINITELY be coming back.

My boyfriend and I were a little early and were seated at the bar. The bartender was extremely attentive. He read my mind and gave a glass of my now favorite white wine. We were seated at the window and had a lot of privacy to talk. The food portions are small but filling. Service was impeccable, I savored every bite, and left the restaurant completely satifisfied. Worth trying and I will be back again!

I dined at Boka when it first opened, and my wife and I forget how much we loved it. Boka definetly deserves all the great press it gets. Try to sit in the cozy front area! We dined on oysters with mignonette, scallops with lavnder cream and organic pocorn, and a delcious vension with sweet and sour cabbage. Great service as well that was very friendly.

Overall, the food was good, but nothing spectacular. I don't think the $100 was worth it. We both had a salad, an entree (which did not include a side) and dessert with water to drink. We didn't have a reservation, so we waited at the bar for about 30 minutes. When we were seated, we were brought complimentary glasses of champagne "for our patience", which I thought was nice.

I can't believe i just found out about Boka. Some of the best food in the city and definitely the best service. The mussels were as fresh as anything I can remember and the double chocolate dessert and bread pudding was great. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

I came to Boka the first time, and had appetizers and drinks at the bar. The service was stellar and the food was amazing. We returned a second time a few months later and dined up front in the lounge area. Our experience was good, the food was, again, excellent, and the service was prompt. But the low-slung lounge chairs made me feel very far away from the table, and from my date. I would recommend requesting a seat in the back dining area, if possible.

This place, pound for pound is the best in the city. First of all, friendly, secondly gorgeous room & patio, and the food and atmosphere is redefining what neighborhood restaurant should be. Killer wine list and a great crowd. We will be back...just got top new restaurant in chicgo mag.

The restaurant's interior was nice, but in all of the pictures I have seen of it they have focused on the lounge atmosphere seating. The picture with the overstuffed chairs at the tables and the romantic vibe is only in the front half of the restaurant. Most of the seating is more traditional and your typical restaurant set-up, and a little cramped. The food was excellent though, as well as the drinks. Seafood and red meat were wonderful. The service was very slow and not very attentive. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to complete our meal (app, dinner, desert). It took about 45 minutes for the server to even take our food order, and about 20 for her to bring us our first drink. Overall, it was average. I think Chicago offers a lot better restaurants to choose from.

Very dissapointed with this restaurant and its service. We made a reservation at 6 and came in at 6.15 because the traffic was horrible and they already gave our table away. When we asked them about their policy, the GM said they usually give away the table after 20 min. The GM LIED and told us it was already 6.18 when she gave the table to a WALK-IN couple which was impossible because when we got there at 6.15, the couple were already seated. The GM also did not have any customer service skills. She did not apologize and was very cocky. I was going to try to this place because I thought it's a hip place, but the crowd is an older crowd and the decor is very boring. There are a lot more places in Chicago that you can get better food, environment and services than this place.

So, I happen to walk into the place the weekend before it was formally open because it was open late night and in walking distance of where I was originally (a bar that closed at 2 AM). I was very impressed with the ambiance, the service and the drink menu. The bar tenders were nice and hospitable. They even wanted to close and they didn't kick us out. I haven't been for dinner yet but intend to check it out. I did look at the menu and it seems excellent! I'd say give it a shot!

Giuseppe Tentori initially came from Milan---sans English skills---to work in top Chicago kitchens. These days, he works magic at this hip boite. Boka's menu, which was already good, has gotten considerably better with time. We find first…
