My brother and I always come here to catch up, since we both love fresh seafood and they have great service too. We always have pleasant meals at Catch 35. I love the sesame crusted ahi tuna, which was delightful and cooked just right. My brother ordered the shrimp pad thai which was a bit spicy for his taste, but delicious nonetheless. Perhaps they could put a little warning for dishes that are spicier on the menu? Our server was very nice as well, and the waitstaff was very prompt in refilling our water. The food never fails to disappoint, seafood is always fresh and prepared masterfully. I would only suggest that they change their menu more regularly to encourage me to come back more often!

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the City. The food is great and the service is spot on. My wife is a vegetarian and at many restaurants she is treated to a selection of sides. Catch 35 asked what she would like and made it for her. The Jazz band playing at the entrance is entertaining and priceless. This is elegant dining and I feel like Fred Astaire might just stroll past in a white tie and tails. Go, enjoy really well thought out fine dining.

My wife, son and me ate at Catch 35 before a concert at the Chicago Theater, which is right around the corner. The restaurant is beautiful and flashy although the tables are set very close together. Its great for people watching and listening! The kitchen has a glass window all around which is both interesting and troubling at the same time. We ate early, about 6:00 to avoid the big rush later. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly and very helpful with our selections which was needed due to the expansive menu. Many wines are offered by the glass and proved to be a nice inexpensive way to try some different wines with our meal. We started with shrimp cocktail and the coconut shrimp. The shrimp cocktail was absolutely average with small shrimp lying dead and cold on a big plate. The coconut shrimp was outstanding with a delightful chutney like sauce. We had the crab bisque instead of salad. It really was not very good. It wasn't bad, just not good. It needed salt, pepper, crab and bisque. I don't know who prepared the soup, but he needs to be slapped with a mackerel. My wife had the scallops, my son the halibut and lump crab meat and I had the blackened grouper. The scallops were great as was the halibut, but my grouper was still flopping on the plate when it arrived and has to be sent back to be caught and cooked. Don't get me wrong, I love sashimi, just not part sashimi. The restaurant is flashy and the service is fast and attentive. Just be careful with your selections and poke it before you put in your mouth.

As we just walk in.. I was already impressed. Large yet intimate dining. We arrived 45 min before closing..
You would think the wait staff would be cranky, ready to go home. Well, I think we received the best service. I usually try different foods when on vacation.. So I choose the Halibut, topped with crabmeat. My choice was on the money.. Sooo good. My husband, being the carnivore he is.. choose a NY strip steak, med rare with whipped potatoes. They have a signature dessert.. the Key Lime Pie.. Of course I decided to take a taste.. My husband had the baked apple pie.. Both were excellent.
This is surely a great place to eat. In the heart of it all too...Enjoy!!

We've eaten at Catch 35 twice. Both the food and the table service are excellent. However, the coordination of reservations on weekends could be a lot better. On both occasions, we made reservations well in advance; but were not seated until 30-45 minutes after our reservation. Luckily, there is a nice bar with live music for waiting. You should definitely visit this restaurant, but probably not on a night when you have theatre tickets or some other commitment after dinner.

You've gotta try this restaurant; best seafood in Chicago! I went there with some friends, we all ordered different dishes and everyone LOVED their food! Believe me, the food is bursting with flavor and it's so delicious, it melts in your mouth...from the coconut shrimp for appetizers to the Creole Salmon main course, to their apple pie and gelato for desert, the menu leaves nothing wanting. And the wine list is also great. Oh, did I forget to mention the bread? It was warm, fluffy and fresh! You won't be disappointed in Catch 35...just make sure you make reservations.

Pros: great food! reasonable price.

This place had fantastic seafood! I went there on a Saturday night with a date and was very happy with it. I think that the best time to visit however would be a weeknight, as the crowd was a bit sparce... Getting the afterwork crowd would be cool. Our server was very sweet and helpful and recommended a great wine and entree. The entire staff was quick and attentive. Overall, food was superb and the atmosphere was good.

Wife and I here July 29th. I had been 2 years ago and enjoyed it then. I disagree w/ Shellamy311. They food is great, the best ahi sashimi you'll find; they'll do it as an appetizer if you'd like. Fish with Asian flair cooked anyway you'd like it. Wine list is not too pricey for the average nice Chicago restaurant. I paid twice as much at a steak place the night before for dinner so I think the value here is quite good. Got us in without a reservation. Service was quite good and I enjoyed the decor. I highly recommend the fish here. My wife said it may have been the best swordfish she's ever had.

Very expensive for the small portions. I had lobster and it was average. Poor service and I would not go back.

I've been to this returant at least 6 or seven times and although my first first expierence was mediocre(due to a very rude waiter, but I haven't seen him since) every expierence from there on has been terrific!! I took someone for their birthday and the staff knew from my reservations and they went all out. Catch 35 caught me with their wonderful staff, plentiful dishes and I can't say enough about the blackend red snapper or the crab cakes!

Perfectly textured fish and a subdued, humming atmosphere make Catch 35 a dining experience you can depend on. You better try their Chilean Sea Bass before it becomes extinct - their fresh preparation makes it light and buttery smooth. I also enjoy their pasta dishes. However, service sometimes slips, and I've witnessed occassionally rude and tepid service quality. Desserts are a good deal-the chocolate mousse is one of the best I've ever had. Catch 35 is consistent in their preparation, execution, and overall experience - a good bet for taking guests or family.

I eat at Catch 35 frequently for lunch and have never been disappointed. They always have a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood that they expertly prepare and present. The head chef is from Thailand and so many of the menu items have a creative oriental flair. If you want to take someone or a group out to eat at a place that you can depend upon impressing your guests, Catch 35 will not dissappoint.

If the service had been half as good as the food, this restaurant would have been a winner!

Our visit in January '05 before going to the theater was shocking, given their reputation. Food was flavorful, but the lobster and shrimp with the ravioli were both tough. When the waiter AND the hotess asked how things were, I replied "OK" in a disappointing tone. Neither cared enough to ask why I wouldn't rate it better. I asked if the owners were local, and the hostess was unsure. When I did express my specific concerns, the coat check assistant said, "Well, you can't please everybody." Sounds like serious morale problems here. I have vowed to tell the hundreds of people I know who go to Chicago for trade shows not to expect a pleasing experience at Catch 35.

Dozens of fresh fish coming in daily, displayed as you are led to your table. The dishes- both appetizers & entrees- were prepared well with interesting flavors. The wait staff knowledgeable and right on in their recommendations. It is a place I have recommended to others and would definitely visit again.

The fish was as fresh as I have had in Chicago - the chilean sea bass with ginger and scallions was packed with flavor and butter smooth. Curries were also excellent (even for a Thai-food lover). I agree that it is better suited to a fun dinner with friends than a romantic night out. I recommend it enthusiastically.

Cons: Few parking options, Not for frugal

Quite Striking when your first enter, except the fact that quite a few bulbs are burnt out on the entry Chandelier. Being shown the deserts and fresh fish was a great idea. The Bleu Cheese seemed to be hiding somewhere other than the plate. The apppetizers were wonderful, but the Entree of Steak (Overcooked) and Lobster (Broiled seemed very charred and tough) were waining. Next time we shall have Soup and a few appetizers.......

This place is fantastic. The Crab legs were cooked to perfection and cracked open for me. The service was well informed and very helpful in making my selection. Only complaint, appetizers are more for the individual than a small group or couple. I can't wait to eat there again.
