Golden Wok is one of those hole-in-the-wall delights of La Grange Park that you discover from time to time. A few decorative overhead lamps and some simple tablecloths are the extent of the decor, but don't let the simplicity convey the wrong impression. The mural of the Great Wall and the lighting fixtures could be from one of 1,000 Chinese restaurants, but that is where all comparisons end. The Golden Wok has decided to concentrate on preparing excellent Cantonese and Mandarin food, and excellent it is. Something considerably elegant takes place in the kitchen. Golden Wok dishes are of the mild Cantonese variety, but are as good as you'll find anywhere.

Yummy Chinese!

by mary c. | insider Insider | Rank: 28,846

This place is really good...the food is fast and delicious! There are tons of options and their take out is awesome! I would suggest getting their crab rangoon. If you like Chinese and are having trouble finding a place with better food, I would definitely suggest checking this place out!

Dine in or carry out

This family owned place is really Golden. I have been eating here for years and have never been disappointed. The food is good and you get plenty. Everything on the menu is good but I must tell you I love the Hong Kong Steak, a full t-bone cooked to order with vegetables and a sauce to die for! Be sure to ask them about their bowling tournaments!

Parking is tough but well worth the effort, best egg rolls any where...

by JoeyMarks

After hearing some very nice comments from friends and neighbors about this place, we finally have the chance to try it last weekend. May be we picked the wrong time of day, we had to drive around the block few times before getting a spot to park. reminding me of a busy downtown type restaurant where parking is at a premium. Glad to say every thing after that was uphill from that point on. We were greeted with friendly faces and the waiters were attentive without being pushy. As for the food, they have one of the best egg rolls that we have tasted for a while. Which was a good start along with the also excellent Hot and Sour soup. For main courses, we chose the chef recommendation item name Mui's Special. according to the waiter, the dish was name by and after the creator and also owner of this establishment. And it was a terrific creation with Tender beef, slice Chicken and yummy jumbo Shrimps stirred fried in a dark bold garlic favor sauce together with mixture of many crispy vegetables. And it was served on a bed of thin pan-fried Cantonese Noodle. Of course, it was enough to served 2 persons easily . The other dish that we order was the Shrimp double Treat, I admit that it was the photo of the dish on their website and front of the menu that attracted me to this wonderful dish, and it was a perfect dish to go with the Mui's special because, this dish is light and delicate in nature, a sharp contrast compare to the heavy bold taste of the Mui's special. I guess every one have already figure by now, we were extremely happy with this visit to the Golden Wok. hopefully with more customers they can improve the parking situation a bit. But as of now, they will be the Chinese restaurant of choice for us. Oh, I forget to mention that their prices were very reasonable also for the kind of quality food that they served, which is a plus in times like today when we are all out looking for value for our bucks.

Pros: Excellent Quality of food, friendly service, clean and comfortable

Cons: Parking Parking !!

Not worth the effort

by jucichon

This establishment offers a fine selection of well known chinese cuisine. However, what it has in variety, it lacks in decent service and friendly workers. Though the place is bustling at most hours of the day, the prices are higher than average, coupled with rude, impatient service. Better chinese food served with a smile can be found just a few blocks west.

Pros: local establishment, variety

Cons: rude service, high prices, crowded
