5 Stars: Awesome! (by Elizabeth G.)

This place is awesome! They only give the best haircuts I've ever seen. Lots of my friends go here, they have drastically different looking hair and they all look fantastic! Parking is not too terrible in this area, but there is always the Damen bus that will take you within steps of their front door!

4 Stars: Out in a flash, still with most of your cash (by Jennifer W.)

I never had a haircut that took longer than 15 minutes at Big Hair. Big Hair is the perfect solution for urban dwellers who want to look good, but not spend a lot on hair. The environment is casual, fun, and funky; if you ask nicely, the staff will tell you where to find the best vintage shops in Roscoe Village. Now that I'm more into precision cuts, I've decided to go to a slightly more upscale place, but for shaggy, funky, and cheap, forget Fantastic Sam's, head here.

PROS: CHEAP! Fun!
CONS:

5 Stars: GOOD STYLIST IN TRENDY ROSCOE VILLAGE (by Stacey A.)

This place is like something out of a movie. It is absolutely packed to the gills with vintage hair dryers, wigs, and kitsch. It also has more hair magazines with possible hair styles than I have seen absolutely anywhere, and a black and white coffee table that someone must have painted freehand.
The haircut prices are incredible though - only thirteen dollars for women, even long hair. At that price, if you don't like the cut you get you can come back the next week and get something else.

PROS: Cheap haircuts
CONS: Roscoe Village can be quite a busy area any time

4 Stars: never spend a lot on hair again (by Carol E.)

After moving to Chicago, I was looking for a hair cuttery that would not break the bank, and after an exhaustive search, I finally found Big Hair, and I will never go anywhere else! Big Hair is a very funky hairstylist out in Roscoe Village. They do not accept reservations, so you just have to go and wait in their old barber chairs and view all the local art that decorates the walls. The staff is all very friendly, and they listen to what you want. There is no pretension, fuss, or big bills here. A haircut is $12, and a wash is $3 -- can't beat it!
