I live in Lincoln Square and like any other neighborhood dweller I like to do all my business within walking distance. I have been to the salon before for waxing and skincare services, but had never had my hair done. My old stylist moved out of town so I figured it wouldn't be cheating to make an appointment somewhere else. I walked in and the receptionist was talking to a client so I just browsed the Aveda products. A gentleman walked over to the desk, I believe he is the owner, and I started to ask him a question about an appointment and I hardly could get anything out of my mouth. He was rude, snobby, and obnoxious. Needless to say, I walked out and I will never be back not for a haircut, waxing (though I love my girl), or skincare---not for nothing. Oh, I thought I should also mention that this same "gentleman" berated one of his receptionists about something (I was eavesdropping) right in front of clients.

Wow! Just because you own the joint doesn't mean you have the right to give your customers attitude. Remember, you are still in customer service buddy it's not our fault you hate your life.

P.S. I walked down the street to Tigerlillie and was treated warmly and with respect. And their prices were considerably lower. I'll update you on the haircut- I made an appointment for next week.

Pros: It's in my neighborhood

Cons: RUDE!!!!

I visited this place since it was close to my house. I opted for a "hair facial" because it advertised a neck and scalp massage as well as a deep conditioning treatment for my hair. As the treatment began, I learned from the stylist that this was a new treatment that Aveda had just developed. She seemed a little disorganized, and had to keep leaving the room to go get things. Nothing seemed set up ahead of time, and she was reaching behind boxes and things to find what she needed for the treatment. She used a heat lamp on my head that did not have enough cord to reach, and she had to keep stepping over it or around it while applying the treatment. A simple extension cord or surge protector wold have solved that problem easily and quickly. She had me wear a covering to protect my clothing, however the covering was not conducive to a shoulder massage and choked me a bit while she was massaging. After a rinse, she applied something to thicken my hair before blowdrying, which while effective, made my hair very dry to the touch and sticky. I was not able to see the effects of the conditioning until a day later after I washed the stuff out and dried my hair myself.

My hair looks lovely now though, so I haven't written them off yet. The conditioner did it's job wonderfully. I got the feeling they were still working out the kinks in the process, and that it could eventually be a very nice service. I hope that as their first guinea pig, I helped to speed along the process a bit.

In all, the staff was professional and attentive. I would definately go back in a few months and give them another try.

Pros: Location, Ambience, professionalism

Cons: Process for particular service needs refining
