The words delicious, great, fabulous and fantastic can't begin to describe how good this Pizza is. Art of Pizza is just a tiny place on Chicago's north side, but serves up some of the best stuffed pizza I've ever had in my life. If you like pizza with a litle bit of everything on it, go for their Art Special. It's basically made with mushroom, sausage, and cheese. I don't know if they use a secret pizza sauce, but it's truly incredible. Everytime I've ordered a pizza from them I've been happy. The pizzas have a unique, sweet, tangy, and onion flavor about them of which I have never experienced anywhere else.

Great Pizza, but the guy on the phone was purposefully being rude. I know this wont make a difference in how they treat customers in the future, because other reviews have said the same thing and we still got bad service. So I guess even though the pizza is good we wont eat here anymore. There are many great places in Chicago that have both good pizza, and good service, so why order from a place that treats people in such a rude fashion. The owner must be sooooo rich to allow his employees to treat customers this way!

Art of Pizza is the best pizza in the city! Their pan pizza is cooked to perfection and offers the best crust in the city. Great for either dining in or delivery!

Great pizza but horrible customer service. I have been ordering for years and am prepared for my 75 minute wait time which have actually been over 2 hours. However, the last time I ordered they served two pizzas that had been flipped over. When I called they said they would only send us a replacement for one of the pizzas because I had salvaged a few corner pieces to give to my 2year old son from one of them. The manager, who never apologized, then accused me of trying to get 4 free pizzas. By the way, the replacement pizza never came and when I called back the manager said I'd hung up on him and he didn't have time to talk to me. I am done with the Art.

all! Best place to eat pizza in town. A must.
There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn't anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text.

Pros: Best Pizza in town

Cons: lazy waiters

This is a great neighborhood joint to get a quick slice and a pop for lunch. I particularly love the sausage deep dish. The only beef with this Lakeview eatery is the single cashier and the long lines through the day.

For less than $4, you get a slice of pizza and a medium fountain drink - a good deal in tough times.

I had a bad exprience 6 months ago tried them again even worse. I will never order again. They use to be good however they have changed. After the order taker told me he believe the cook over my word about the forgotten items I knew time to stop ordering. Awful pizza and customer service.

I order delivery from here at least once a month. Art's special is my favorite. Delicious, and the delivery is always on time!

Their pizza is the best... it is always good. Lots of cheese with great crust. Just be ready for a fusterating, unfriendly experience when talking with the staff. They aren't too sharp. Calling in to place an order is like speaking with a talking monkey. Simple questions seem too complex and make a quick call way too long. Maybe some there will read this review and take steps to improve this much needed area of their business.

Go for the pizza, but consider yourself warned!

Everyone who said the service is terrible is mistaken. The phone service is pretty much "no frills" but get over it. This is obviously not a place you go for an intimate dining experience.
Most people go for... oh, I dunno... the pizza?
Stuffed is where it's at. The pan is good too, and the thin is good if you like that sort of thing. Thin crust is pretty similar to most, but still good.
Specials are the deal of the century.
Seriously, though... all those people giving bad reviews must work at Giordano's, Gino's, etc.

Pros: Deep Dish Pizza

Cons: None, as long as you know what to expect.

After it was ranked the best Chicago style pizza by the Tribune my roommates and I decided to give it a try. Ever since one out of the four of us has ordered it at least once a week. Though the delivery time is a bit long (usually an hour) its worth the wait.

Pros: Its the best Chicago style pizza. period.

Cons: its best delivered or carryout - the slices they have rotating in the restaurant won't be the greatest

I highly recommend Art of Pizza. I take all my friends there when they come to visit and my family on a regular basis. I love that they have choices is pizza (deep, stuffed, and thin) there is something for everyone. Besides having delicious pizza it is also quick and economic place where you can wear jeans and gym shoes.

The person who wrote the previous review is a complete moron! Did you notice how many words were misspelled? This site has spell check dicks-scab! This anal-opening probably can't find their own mouth and is obviously not from Chicago! It's Lou Malnati's and Gino's East you stupid tourist! Art of Pizza rules!! You need to go have intercourse with yourself! It's a great deal for the money and it feels like the cheese makes out with your tongue while you enjoy this amazing pie!

Among the big purveyors of the deep dish in Chicago, some prefer a heavier crust (like Gino's), some like saltier pizza (Giordano's), while others want a fire-singed crust (do they still use that at Uno's? I have no idea.) The point is, everyone has a pizza joint they like, and another they hate. No one hates this place.

Sure, it shares a strip-mall with a laundromat and I nearly got hit on my bike by someone jetting out of their parking lot going onto Ashland. It's a busy area, but this place is the shining oasis in the middle of a retail desert in west Lakeview. The decor leaves a bit to be desired, but that's not what you're hear for. The pizza itself has a slightly buttery crust with a deliciously seasoned sauce that's just chunky enough. The amount of cheese is decent without making you feel like there's a brick of dairy in your small intestine after two slices. For toppings, there's slightly spicy sausage and veggies that are sliced to the perfect consistency. Somehow, these dudes have managed to make a pizza that unites, not divides us. And for this deed, they get the 5 stars.

I know that this is quite a claim, and several pizza joints around Chicago say that they are the best. But nothing--NOTHING--beats the flaky, buttery crust and delicious ingredients that Art of Pizza uses. The decor is pretty sparse and brightly lit--not exactly date material. I've also heard that their delivery service is lacking. However, for a night out with friends, this place is amazing. Do yourself a service and check it out.

I have lived in the art of pizzza neighborhood for many years and decided to retry the piza after they expanded their seating area. My original reasen for staying away was the service not the pizza. The pizza is as good as other places like Chicago Pizza, Genos east, Lou Malnaties and others, but the service (and worse) the attitude is terrible. Do not try to substitute anything on the specials menu or incure a vocal wrath. I actually had the nerve to try to delete two (2) ingreadients and add one (1) a little garlic to their vegie pizza and was told no. Then I got the manager and his attitude "It sais no substitutions right on the bottom of the menu" I just said I will order elsewere and he hung up on me without a word. Do yourself a favor...there are many great Chicago pizza places try them all before this one.

Cons: service - attitude - did I mention the service & attitude are the worst

I have been coming here with my family for years and this is great pizza!! We can always get in right away, and get incredibly good pizza at amazingly reasonable prices! The only negative thing is the atmosphere, but this makes it easy to ge ta table! If we are in a hurry, the pizza by the slice is always hot and ready, and we can each get a different kind of pizza! The BYOB feature can be great on weekends!

NEVER order from Art of Pizza! I have been a loyal Art of Pizza customer for years, but after the RUDE treatment we received from them the other day, I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant. After their employee wrote down the wrong address, they had the audacity to yell at me on the phone and accuse me of not answering the door when they tried to deliver. Clearly I know my own address! Perhaps they should be a little more careful taking down the correct information when someone calls and take a course in customer service. Worst experience ordering delivery ever!

IMPORTANT: If you don't like this pizza, you're pants are a little too tight in the seat. Loosen up...Relax a bit and enjoy the gearth of the deep dish pie.
My first bite took me to a place that I've seldom been. My friends call it, a little place called "pleasure-town".
The last time I was seen there, was when I was getting weird knee deep in a snow-drift with nothing more than a trench coat and a slice of stuffed sausage in my mitts. The cops said that I was disorderly, but I was just enjoying the magnificance of the gearth of this Art of PIzza masterpiece. See you in "pleasure-town". --Domo

My husband and I were in town for a Cubs game and afterwards, stopped by Gutherie's for a drink to get out of the rain. We were starving and the bartender brought over some takeout menus. He recommended Art of Pizza so we just went with it. It was great pizza. I don't know what the bad reviews are talking about although I didn't order the thin crust. We had a Chicago Style with mushrooms, sausage and tomatoes. It was delicious. We scarfed down the entire thing... I would completely order from them again.

We ordered a thin crust all sausage pizza with half mushroom, half "fresh" garlic (dine in) and I must say - one of the worst I ever had. I would of rather stayed home and had a frozen pizza. I expected a thin crust. What we got was a crust that was at least 1/2" thick if not more. Way too doughy. There was a funky taste I could not place. The sauce had no flavor and was terribly bland. The worst part is that they use garlic from a jar, not fresh (like they claim). There is an unmistakable diffrence in flavor. The mushrooms were ok, but very stingy on the amount. I would say the best part was the cheese. No skimping there. The sausage was not bad, but nothing to rave about. We will not be back here - EVER! There are too many extraordinary chicago pizza places out there.

Okay oldtimers....Remember Ria's Pizzeria on Lincoln Ave.? Well, welcome home to Art of Pizza! Order the stuffed pizza and walk down memory lane. No atmosphere here. No Italian lights or Chianti bottles. Just the greatest stuffed pizza! Just like Ria's!!!!
And for the yuppies that have moved in to the neighborhood....check out Dominos!

it's just ok, living in the lakeview area for years and being a eat out king, I know my pizza, it's good but reading some of the reviews leads me to believe alot of employees/family of "Art" have computers, try via carducci on fullerton, or
La Gondola right across the street to the south in the plaza,(yum)

When friends come to town or the family stops by from downstate, this is the first place we order from...it's become legend. The 12" Pan is enough for 4 meals. The delivery times may be a little higher, but the large delivery area for this single location is well worth the wait. If you're in the neighborhood or driving down Ashland swing in for a slice and you'll see what I mean.

I've ordered from darn near every pizza place on the north side, and I can say unequivocally that Art of Pizza takes home the title every time. Both the thin and stuffed crust are exceptional. There are a few tables in the eat-in area but the bread and butter of this establishment is carry out. Even the beef & sausage sandwiches are exceptional!

Ordered delivery from them for the first time - it took 90 minutes for the delivery (I'm only 3 miles away too), but the pizza was definitely worth the wait! The pan style pizza tasted like it was freshly baked and was steaming hot when it arrived. It is one of the best pizzas that I had. I will definitely order from them again.

Without a doubt, Art of Pizza serves some of the best stuffed pizza in Chicago, perhaps THE best! I had to wait 10 minutes for my first slice because they had sold out of stuffed cheese & sausage and were awaiting a fresh pie from the kitchen - a sure sign of a great product. When my pizza finally arrived it was more than worth its "weight": It starts with a near-perfect, golden-brown crust that makes up the base. Next it's stuffed-till-splitting with tasty mozzarella and your ingredient/s of choice (i.e. they don't skimp). And finally drenched with a thick, vaguely sweet tomato sauce. Sorry Giordano's, I may have a new favorite here... Then again, I've only made a single visit so I'll reserve final judgment until I've stopped in a few more times. Until then, Art of Pizza gets a 9 out of 10.

Tucked into a strip mall, this spot has only a few tables and stools packed together. There's plenty of traffic, though, as drivers buzz in and out for deliveries, and locals duck in for a slice. The Chicago-style pies…
