Tirra Salon is polished and professional without being snooty or pretentious. The staff knows their stuff! Roy ROCKS! He delivers an expert cut and finish each and every time! Before my cut, I'm invisible. When I walk out the front door of Tirra, HEADS TURN! He takes his time...never rushes.

I highly recommend Tirra and especially Roy!

I found Tirra through Citysearch because I was looking for someplace I could go on my lunch break, so it was my first time there. I had a haircut with Melissa. She was very nice in taking the time to listen and she was very responsive to what I told her I wanted. After reading the reviews that complained about rude service from the reception staff I was apprehensive but I did not have that experience. The girl who checked me out even came out and turned the cab light on for me so I could get a quick cab back to work. All in all it was a really good experience, I thought she gave me a great cut and I will definitely go back.

Staci gives marvellous haircuts to both men and women, and her use of color is phenomenal. She is delightful to talk to, highly professional, and really good at what she does. I recommend her most highly.

I recently visited Chicago and found Tirra Salon. I enjoyed each of the services, the facial was very relaxing and I got the best haircut. The staff was very friendly and professional. As soon as I walked in the environment was very welcoming and the front desk was very helpful.

I have visited this salon many times in the past but recently I was shocked by the rude front desk. I was warned that the ladies were short and sometimes caddy but until I saw it for myself I did not believe the rumors. I heard employees speaking rudely about the customers and I will never go there again because of the things I heard them say.

I am new to the city,moved from California,was very nerves where to get my hair done,find a new dentist,
etc.so I went on City search and found Tirra salon and spa,it was located almost next door to me so I gave it a chance.I could not have been more pleased.I have realy thick hair,and a lot of hairdressers have a hard time cutting my hair,and spesialy so i can work with it afterwards.Roy did an fabulous job,Thank you.

Last week i came back and had a peddicure with Irena,also a great experience.

my girl friend and I had the most wonderful day at Tirra. Our boyfriends gave us giftcertificates for our birthdays. We had facial,massage and the best caribian spa pedicure,with hot mask applyed to the feet and leggs, they felt so soft. we are still talking abouth it,we will be back.

Sorry to have to be negative, but Tirra was a disappointing experience for me. I had gone there based on a NYC Aveda recommendation and the Citysearch reviews, so I need to be honest for future Citysearch readers. First off, the place was extremely busy and that is a good thing, but when there is a sense of false caring to get you in and out then that good thing turns bad. Any other Aveda experience I have ever had (and I have had many) was relaxing...here, not the case. Both the shampoo and my haircut simply felt as if attempts to get me in and out...both with a sense of fake sincerity at satisfying me. I had my hair cut by Astrid...who is often raved about in Cityserach...but compared to the Aveda cuts I normally get her cutting work was dated...and showed none of the creativity that Aveda is know for. She works fast and furious...and I think, perhaps, her many years as a haircutter have left her skills robotic. I felt as if I was getting the kind of cut I got back in my teens in the neighborhood salon before newer techniques and salon settings became all the rage. Truthfully, my new haircut cut looks like a helmet or a suburban housewife's idea of style! It shows no life whatsoever...it just hangs limp and unpolished. In fact, it looks as if I am due for a haircut and not like i just had one! Quite honestly, I'm going for a fix up haircut today. Sorry Tirra...if my experience was great I would have written about that too...unfortunately, the best part of my visit was the friendly and helpful girls at the reception desk!

wonderful,experiance. I was given a gift certificate for a full day at the spa. I had manicure and pedicure with Irina,awsome.Then my best facial yet with Billy. I decided to change my massage for a haircut with Astrid,
She totally changed my look I love it.
I will be back.I highly recommend this place.

Really love this place. They have something for everyone there. I had a haircut from Astrid. I walked in there with my hair all frazzled and she was able to eye ball it and suggest what would look good on me. I went with her suggestion and am really happy with my new hairdo. She is very knowledgeable and well worth the price of the haircut.

I went to Tirra Salon and Spa for my first time recently and I have to say it was the best experience I have had with my hair in a very long time! It's so hard to find a good stylist now a days let alone an amazing one! She was very patient with me and knew just what to do with my hair. The service was terriffic from the moment I walked in until I left. I definately will be coming back to Tirra to get my hair done again and for other services in the future.

I have been to tirra a few times for a variety of services. Im kind of an aveda snob =) I mean that in a good way. Not only did I find their salon clean but definately up to the standards of the aveda concept. I am one who appreciates being acknowledged when I walk in a spa and every time I have gone there I have felt welcomed - unlike some other places I have been to in the city. If you love the aveda product, and you are looking for a super nice place to be pampered, Tirra is definately my choice and it should be yours too.

I have been going to Tirra for a few years now and I must say that this is a great salon. They are always so nice and accomodating to everyones needs. Beyond the great service and awesome staff, they really make it feel like one big family there. They strive to give you the treatment that YOU want. The owners truly want everyone to have a great experience and make sure that the staff is on top of things to make that happen. If you want pure relaxation and to be taken care of as soon as you walk in the door, then go to Tirra and experience it for yourself! Keep up the good work Tirra!

I have never seen anything like this. I know how Aveda wants to present themselves and I really feel that you don't get that message at Tirra Salon and Spa. I have been there a few times and have come to realize that there are so many better Aveda places than this one. Sure, I have had a couple of good services done from good staff members, but why are they working at a place like that? I have many times felt rushed, cheated on in services, poor comunication and unsanitary. That is not an Aveda concept Salon and Spa! You really wonder if they are there to meet the clients satisfaction or just to make the bucks. I really recommend for Aveda people to go somewhere else since you can get a much better service, meet more proffessional staff and feel comfortable in the inviroment. This place is not to recommend to people that want to feel satisfaction. I feel very dissapointed that there are places like Tirra Salon and Spa.

Snotty, not even a good enough word to describe the service we as a company have received from them
We do from time to time give out gifts for our clients, and even in light of a lot of potential business they are too busy, and to rude to take time. Gosh how will they treat people who show up there, WAIT.. read the reviews not so good as I see it
PS save yourself time & grief and go else ware!!!!

I have some facts and personal opinion regarding this salon.

Facts
I was there 15 min early before my appointment
The staff was not ready until 15 min late, that is when I finally called the front desk to let them know.

Opinion
Unless you stand up and say something, they will not care.
I only lost 15 min, but could have lost more.
There is a definite punctuality issue.

Facts
My hair cut was done in 20 min including shampooing. The designer says there is not very much that can be done with male hair cut.

Opinion
Perhaps she does not know what she CAN do? Especially knowing what the result was way below my expectation. I will never do this, but-supper cut is where you should go for such result.
She asked, is it ok? I didn?t know what to say?.balancing the length of my back hair was the only think that I could ask her to fix-others, I was too scared to ask, since I don?t know that the result is going to be.

Opinion
Whoever was answering the call was not so nice.

Lost $40. I bought a Aveda Shampoo and a conditioner, just to make me feel better.

Fact

When the designer was cutting my hair, she had some parking issues, some other staff came and started to talk?talk?talk? I mean, who gives a damn about me. I don?t care about your car, nor what you think of it. If you are going to stand next to me and talk to each other while appointment, why not just go out and have a cup of coffee?

It was my first visit. The review point 9.9 is just not realistic.
It surely will be the last visit that I will make.

Pros: They sell Aveda products

They say you can tell how good a place is just by first impression. True to some extent, and definitely true when I called them. Being a first time customer wanting information, the person who picked up the phone on 4/12/07 around the 1PM time frame proceeded to laugh and smirk at my questions as if I should've known the answers already. I asked about pricing and packages and they had no idea what I was talking about. I mean, I'm sure when you walk in it's a nice place. But WTF, all I wanted is for some answers to my questions and not some snotty know it all bi*%$ who thinks she's miss know-it-all to answer a couple questions. Hell, I could be Donald Trump or Oprah wanting some spa treatment and whoever that was talked to me like that??? I'd march right in, demand for the manager and have the ENIRE FACILITY SHUT DOWN ALL BECAUSE OF THAT WOMAN. Guess I'll take my business elswehere. At least other establishments took the time to answer my questions and didn't laugh at me once.

Pros: N/A (haven't been there, won't go in and won't call again)

I was in desperate need of making my hair healthy again and I stumbled upon Tirra. I am not a big fan of having my hair done by others but when Kate did my hair-I had to go back a second time. She treated my hair with care and listened to my needs. My hair never felt so good with the Aveda products that she used. The staff also treats you with respect and as if you have been coming in for years! I will be making another appointment for the 3rd time!

Tirra is just an exceptional place. Nice environment, friendly stylists, and overwhelmingly beautiful results. I got 10.5 inches off of my hair and now I look gorgeous. Everyone is highly skilled and experienced. My stylist truly gave me what I wanted. Awesome and A+ !

I was visiting from out of town for my birthday weekend and found Tirra on Citysearch. I booked with Kate for a highlight and cut, but my flight was delayed and she didnt have time to do both. We decided that the color was more important since I was recovering from bad summer high and lowlights. Kate did an amazing job correcting the brassy carmel color highlights that I have been trying to cover since May! The staff at the salon were all very nice and accomodating (I had my luggage) and even stayed a bit after closing time on a Friday night. My only disappointment was that I didnt have time for the cut. My husband works in Chicago a few times per month, and I will definitely have my color done at Tirra with Kate again!

I got a haircut with Astrid today and although it was a bit pricey for my taste, she was absolutely worth every penny. It's really important that my stylist know that I like LONG bangs, and she understood that statement to a T! It was a perfect cut and took very little time, so I was in and out of there on my lunch break. Ronnie gave me a super-relaxing head massage with the shampoo! You will not regret your visit to Tirra Salon.

I had the best spa day I have ever had..I travel all over the world, and have been to day spas every where, but nowhere where the staff was so consistent and knowledgeable.

I have had many teatements with members of the staff and they have always been truly wonderful experiences that have improved my sense of well being and physical condition enormously. Tirra Salon was referred to me by a friend and she had nothing but great things to say about the salon. I researched the salon first and decided what services to get. I did notice a reveiw where the clients were unsatisfied but that did not stop me from going. I ended up getting a massage and a pedicure. I was very pleased with the experience and I will be back!

For a special pre-wedding treat, my mom researched spas in Chicago. She chose Tirra and purchased spa gift certificates for the bride and maid-of-honor. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and the staff seemed tired and uninterested. The bride described a medical condition she'd had with her stomach recently and the massage therapist's response was, "Do you consume a lot of dairy? Because you know, you're not a baby and you're not a cow" Meanwhile, I, the maid-of-honor, was having a facial, which felt more like a strict lesson. Instead of gentle reminders or cleansing instructions, the staffwoman scolded me for only having one facial a year ("you should have at least one every two months!") What was meant to be a relaxing and indulgent afternoon turned out to be something totally different. I will not be returning.

On my day off I thought I would try to treat myself to something that men don't treat themselves enough, spa treatments. I believe, as a man, that any time you are walking in somewhere for a facial you are a bit nervous. Upon walking in I was apporached by the most professional and curteous staff I ever met, checked-in and then introduced to my esthetician, Sarah. If I may say so, I was in heaven thoughout the whole service and upon completion I was very well consultated by Sarah on my skin type and on what products would fit my type the best. Not once was I told or sold anything, instead I was educated and informed. If you are looking for relaxation go to Tirra!

I am new to the Chicago area, and I found Tirra on CitySearch. I called and made an appointment for the same afternoon. All the staff was extremely friendly, and I got one of my best haircuts in years! I appreciated that they did NOT try to push all their product on me--no sales presuure at all. I usually pay a ton for a cut since I have so much hair, but the price was reasonable, and I will definitely go back.

My very good friend treated me to a "day of Rejuvenation" for my 40th Birthday, and what a great time we had. The organization that was used to set us up in a timely fasion was really good. Everything was great from the massage to the makeup. My only compliant would be the facial, it was good but I think it could have been better. The Caribbean Manicure and Pedicure were great. Everyone who worked there was really nice and helpful. This might have to be a once every 6 month treat.

For a guy who wanted to impress and has never done the spa thing, Tirra rocked. They were great at everything they do and my date was very happy when she left. The service was top notch and they really knew what my date wanted. very good place.
