Ashland Tire & Auto

My clutch gave out on the day of an important event at work and right before the weekend. I had my car towed to Ashland Tire & Auto. They said they'd call as soon as they'd had a chance to take a look at it. I was expecting them to call several hours later, as they looked very busy. They called about half an hour later with news that the repairs would not be as serious as I had thought and would cost a lot less. They got it done by the end of the day. All in all, a good experience! But, the real kicker is that when I drove my car home, I noticed a loud muffler sound. I took it back in to Ashland Tire & Auto the next morning (today, actually) and they looked at it immediately and told me what was wrong. Since I had just had that part replaced at another repair shop a few months earlier, they suggested that I take it back to them. The cost for them to look at it immediately? Completely free. I'll definitely be back for other car service!

My car was brought there for patching a flat tire. When i picked it up the next day the tire was patched and a huge dent had been put in the front end!

They, of course, asked "how i knew it happened here? It could have happened on the street." Yes, it could have, except i don't park on the street and there are no cars near my parking spot. Furthermore, it wasn't there when i handed over the keys.

Tire repair=$20
Dealing with these "people"= -$1250 (estimate)

Realizing driving 30 miles to go to my usual garage for quality work is a small price to pay = Priceless

I can't believe how great these guys are. Took my car in, pulled the flat out of my trunk, and within 5 minutes, someone checked it out, confirmed what I wanted and got started. Ten minutes later (yes, 10 mins!!), I was out the door with a new tire installed. It cost a lot less than the last flat I had fixed at Wal-Mart, too. Definitely recommend this place, and I know I'll be going back!

My wife and I first heard about Ashland Tire and Auto on an NPR auto program (Click and Clack I believe). We have two Saturns (one with over 160,000 miles) and have had several of the typical issues that a high mileage vehicle has. One time when I brought in my car they said there were several possible things wrong with it but that no individual item could be pinpointed and therefore it was better not to take a guess (the car is close to its end and they felt it would be throwing away money to try and guess at what was wrong). Not only that, but they would not take any money for the diagnostic work which took over an hour. They just said "we appreciate your business." As long as I live anywhere near Ashland Tire and Auto, they are my family's only auto repair shop.

PROS: honest, fair, accurate, timely
CONS: absolutely none, highest recommendation

Repeatedly tried to sell me tires when I did not need them. Refused to install my tires - stated that they were 'bald' and would not be held responsible if I got in an accident, then preceded to try and sell me some tires again. I went to a Firestone service center and they installed my supposed 'bald' tires with no fuss. I went back to ashland and told them this and even showed them the Tire Wear guide in the tire warranty I forgot about earlier - they said that was ancient and started to get angry (earlier, another worker attacked me by saying I was not a 'tire guy' so I did not know what I was talking about). Found out they over charged me too in the past - I paid them around $120, but Firestone charged $36 for the exact same service without any hard sell. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!

They guys at Ashland Tire have taken care of several of our cars over the years. I have been consistently impressed by their knowledge & integrity. I have never felt as if they were trying to sell me repairs I didn't need. My cars have also run better under their care than any other cars I've owned. These guys are quick, reasonably priced, and as honest as they come.

PROS: Reliable service, good prices, honest mechanical diagnoses.
CONS: None whatsoever

This is the most honest Auto Repair Shop, ok, I'll say it, IN THE WORLD. My dad told me that my tires looked a little worn and I should get them checked, I took my car in and they said, nope, I should come back in a couple months, my tires had more wear in them. WHAT? I had my credit card in hand, but these guys tell you the way it is. Your car is ready when they tell you, it costs what they said it would cost and when it is fixed, it is fixed!

When shopping for a used car these guys were also great about giving potential candidates the once over for a nominal fee before we purchased. There is no doubt in my mind that Ashland Tire and Auto has saved my family thousands of dollars in unnecessary or inflated repair charges. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Keep up the good work guys.
