.

They did a great job on my first pedicure and manicure on 12/06/08. One oriental lady did the work for $35.00 and I tipped her $6.00. She was very pleasant and polite. Also, the environment was pleasant and relaxing. The problem was that I had services done using my Amazon visa card (they don't take Discover) and I received a fraud alert 2 days later on 12/08/08 from Amazon visa. Some charges were declined (one was to Hanoi Viet Nam) and Amazon visa called me personally to find out if I made those charges. Well, I was in the process of using Discover card for ALL my charges (cause I was tired of just receiving a certificate of reward from Amazon for using my card). I had not used this Amazon visa card at all in the past month. So all of a sudden the fraudelent charges appeared after I went to Mimis. It is odd that all the employees were Oriental and one of the fraudelent charges was to Hanoi, Viet Nam, an Oriental country overseas. Circumstantial evidence points to a confiction here. Amazon credit is investigating Mimis after speaking to me. I will NEVER go here again. But if you feel like you absolutely have to go here for some reason like receiving a gift card from a friend, pay cash and do NOT give out any personal information, not even your address. Thats how Amazon visa ended up catching this fraud resulting in a declined transaction.

Update: On 12/10 I contacted Discover card and found that Mimis also issued a duplicate fraudulent charge of $35.00 on my Discover. The legit one was on my Amazon visa. The scenario played out like this: on 12/06 at 8:45 a.m. I went to Mimi nails and asked to purchase a $50.00 gift card for my friend Sandy who I met later at mimis. I handed her my Discover card. She swiped it, then said to me "we don't take Discover". So I dug out my Amazon visa which she swiped and I signed. Upon returning to Mimis later that afternoon with my friend, we had our services performed and I handed the lady my Amazon visa to pay for my nails, with a legit charge of $35.00. I tipped her cash $6.00. On 12/10 I called Discover and found out that she charged my Discover card $35.00 as a fraud! Discover card issued a credit and is also investigating this merchant for fraud. I contacted Bloomingdale police, village of bloomingdale, and chamber of commerce and they can't do anything unless the credit card companies provide proof of fraud. In the mean time this merchant continues to operate business as usual. They would be an ideal business partnership for our governer.
