I just had a deck built and would refer these workers to anyone. I thought it was expensive at first but saw the work they did and how nice it looks now. I feel they did above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. Great job and very nice results!

This is just in response to Amanda Z. Illinois law does not allow a landlord to keep your sec. deposit unless a statement of charges was sent, along with bill copies, within 30 days of vacating or within 45 days if work was in progress. Work/repairs HAD to be made as charged. If not statement was sent to you, you have the right to request FULL refund of deposit. Send certified letter (return receipt) asking for refund first. If none, file in small claims.

My husband & I rented a house from this company in 2008. It was a one-year-old house in Urbana that was on a newer subdivision-like road. I was pregnant & due to have a C-section 10 days before our lease was up. My husband wrote the owner's wife (who we also signed the lease with), Phyllis, a letter asking if we could get out of our lease a month early since I was due to have surgery. She called us & said it was fine. They ended up keeping our entire deposit, which was over $1,500. She kept the last month's rent, & then charged us for ridiculous "issues" with the house. After keeping our $1,500 deposit, she also claimed that we owed them another $500. She refused to give us back our money. We can't sue her since she so conveniently called to say we could break early instead of giving us something in writing. This company is greedy, selfish, & dishonest.

We bought a home built by Mennenga Construction. The house was only one year old and they were still the owners. (They rented the house out for the first year). After living in the house for just a few months, we noticed that our floor was sinking in the kitchen. There was an actual "dip" in the floor. We hired someone to come inspect it. Mennenga Construction had failed to replace some beams under the house after the pipes and ducts were completed. Also, they failed to put drywall tape on our walls, so all of our ceilings and walls started to come apart. The house was only ONE year old. There were lots of cracks in the drywall too. Houses that are one year old should not have two foot cracks in the wall. Our friends who bought a house from them had lots of cracks in their walls too.
Then when our taxes came due at the beginning of the next year, they had failed to pay their fair share of the taxes for the part of the year they still owned the house. When I contacted them about it, their response was "oh, well, that isn't our fault".
So, we had to pay double the taxes we should have paid because of their dishonesty.
I don't recommend this company at all. Their construction work is not up to par. And they are not honest in their everyday dealings.

PROS: none
CONS: Poor workmanship, dishonest
