FANTASTIC!

by Beth D.

Dr. Lancaster did a wonderful job of surgery on our cat and it was VERY reasonably priced compared to all the other vets out there....on top of it, he was sooooo great to work with and knew that although we love our kitty, we were also very concerned about spending insane amounts of money...This is our new vet!

I love wheaton animal hospital. all the doctors are very knowledgeable, the technicians are very friendly and very good at what they do, the receptionists are very kind as well as the rest of the staff. I refer all of my friends there and they all love this hospital. I have brought all my animals there for years and they are all very healthy, I credit this place for their health.

This vet saved my cat!!!

by Anonymous

I have an elderly cat who is 18 years old and was getting very sick. He wasn't eating, and was losing weight very quickly. We took him, on three separate occasions, to Elmhurst Animal Clinic on 83. Every time we took him there, they would do the exact same thing: inspect him a little, tell me he was constipated, give him an enema, keep him overnight (to the tune of $500 per visit), run some tests, and then call me back later, absolutely stumped. After 3 visits spanning about 9 months, they could not figure out what was wrong with him. Meanwhile, he was only eating a few mouthfuls of food a day, and he was just wasting away. We thought for sure that he wasn't going to make it.The last visit to Elmhurst clinched it for me. They came out and told me he weighed FOUR POUNDS. Turns out, they weighed him incorrectly, but nonetheless the damage was done and I was in a panic. I grabbed his vet records from Elmhurst and took him to Wheaton. In less than fifteen minutes, the vet at Wheaton determined that Elmhurst had not performed a simple but important blood test to determine how his thyroid was functioning. The vet said that thyroid problems would explain why he wasn't eating, and would also explain the small heart murmur he had developed (a symptom Elmhurst had missed). She did the tests, which confirmed her hypothesis, and gave him the thyroid medication. Within a couple of weeks, he was eating more and more. Within a couple of months, his coat was full and soft again, and he was active and back to his normal self. Also, the vet suggested that I get some Laxatone to help with the constipation. This is a $9 over-the-counter fix that Elmhurst never recommended. Each time we brought him into Elmhurst, it was a $500 overnight visit and an enema, and then he would just get constipated again in a couple of months, requiring another $500 overnight visit. We spent over $1500 at Elmhurst over 9 months trying to get my cat back to healthy, and they never figured it out. Wheaton took 15 minutes to figure out the issue, prescribed a $35 per month prescription, and a $9 over-the-counter remedy to get my cat back to normal. I've taken my cat now three times to Wheaton, and each time the vet remembers him and comments on how much better he looks. At Elmhurst, I never saw the same vet twice.
I am so impressed with how quickly and accurately the doctor got my cat healthy. If we'd kept going back to Elmhurst, he would have just wasted away. The vet at Wheaton probably saved his life!

Don't Go Here!

by Leah A.

I bought a puppy from a store because I knew it was sick. The first Vet visit was free so instead of going to my normal vet I took the puppy here. She said he may have an upper resp. infection but should be fine. I knew this wasn't the case and went to my regular vet. They told me he should be immediately rushed to the emergency animal hospital. He was kept there for 4 days and had such a bad pneumonia that he still has scar tissues on his lungs. They told me if I hadn't brought him in he would have died within a week. There is no excuse for the the Vet at the Wheaton Animal Hospital to miss something so obvious. I will never go here again, free or not!

Very Caring

by G A.

I take all three of my pets to this vet. I like the drop-in policy and the care is top notch. Dr. Lancaster is especially great. The staff is friendly and the office is bright and clean. The cost is reasonable as well.

Butchers...

by R F. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,061

After adopting a dog from a local humane society, she had to come here to be spayed. They put a 13 inch incision on her belly, and this is only a medium sized dog. They gave us no aftercare instructions, no antibiotics, no nothing. Needless to say, the wound got infected and required multiple trips to our regular vet to be corrected.
