I have had a few separate experiences with Bill's Auto. All of them left me less then satisfied. First of all I found this place through IMS Barter network which allows me to reduce the labor cost by using my barter account to pay for labor this seems like a positive but it really just seems to inflate the prices even more.

First visit. I call a week ahead to get my Chevy express van's brakes changed and a slight tune up since its been getting poor gas mileage. My technician drops off our work truck to get the brakes done since we were in training that day and notifies the office that the vehicle must be finished that day since we have no spare vans and need the work completed during that day. This was all scheduled prior to the drop off with the office person Ken. The afternoon comes and I get a call from Ken that the van is ready and he sends me over the invoice. $1654!!!!!!! I ask if there is any thing that can be done on the price since we are looking for a garage to work on my 5 work vehicles and he talks to his boss and give me the long version of no.

We then pick up the van that evening after hours and the van is running awfully. The whole van is shaking and it is nearly un-drivable. I call into the office frantically the next morning trying to get the van fixed since we have no back up van and a full calendar of jobs booked out 3 weeks. Ken responds that all of the mechanics are due in for training and wont be available to fix the van and they cant help me. After about 30 minutes of arguing I get them to keep on of their mechanics out of class to "fix" the van. As I expected the spark plug or wiring that was replaced was not connected correctly and it was misfiring due to this. (Due to the scheduling issues we lost a $1000 job this day which never rescheduled). The van continues to run poorly and we may return to try to get them to fix it but I am weary of using them ever again.

Over the next couple of weeks the van runs alright but still rough and then gets worse and worse until it barely drives again. Turns out the poor ignition has caused the catalytic converter to be nearly completely clogged. It is recommended by the shop to replace the piece for $900 and see if that fixes the problem (at the time the only evidence of the clogged cat was it was one of 3 error codes that came up on the diagnostics). Again I have to step in and argue my case that they should remove the y pipe to determine that this is in fact the only issue so we don't have to go back in again the next day for another problem. After charging me to do this they test run the van and determine this is the only issue.

Bill's auto assumes no responsibility in the clogged Cat and they say it must have been time to replace the cat at 90,000 miles. I agree to fix the cat and again have to argue to use a non OEM part and have to talk to the owner to get approval to do so. (my only option according to Ken was wait 3 days while they tracked down the correct part.) Final Price $964.00

Their billing lady Karen called and said the van was ready. I ask to talk to Ken to discuss the price assuming I might be able to get some discount for the continued issues. He was not available so I tell her to leave the keys on the tire and my crew will pick up the job after the work and Ken can call me to finalize payment in the morning. My crew shows up to pick up the van and its blocked in by 4 buses and no keys left.... I have to now move my morning job back and end up losing another job ($500) in the afternoon who we cant fit in that day due to not being able to get the van until 8:30am.

The van has been out of the shop for 2 weeks and the check engine light is back on again. I will never go back and received no discount or apology for the poor work performed by this shop after multiple discussions with Ken. Had I not had knowledge of cars myself I would have been worked over even more than I already was on this work. During the whole process the thorn in my side was Ken who was handling the phones. He was very rude and never accommodating with any of the issues.

I always get great, honest service at Bill's Auto! Several of the doctors I used to work for take their vehicles there, which is how I found out about this place. They've always been upfront and reasonably priced. I had even been quoted $600 on a brake job at another place and Bill's Auto did it for about $350.
