The menu at this neighborhood mainstay highlights classic Thai specialties like spring rolls, satay, curries, fried rice and noodle dishes, as well as a few showier chef's specialties, like red curry salmon and "Orchid" chicken, served in a halved pineapple. House-made coconut ice cream is the dessert favorite. A small dining area in front has a few sunken tables surrounded by colorful pillows, plus a handful of regular tables; a narrow hallway gives way to a second, larger dining room in back. Soft lighting sets a romantic tone, but this spot is also popular with groups.

Reviews for Thai Classic

Ratings_icons Okay thai food

This is another one of the many small thai joints in the area. I think this is an okay choice for thai food. They have all you typical thai dishes on their menu, but I found the few that I tried to be a bit on the bland side. They could defintely use a couple of kicks of spices. The service I thought could be better too because our waitress was kind of slow and was nowhere to be found at times. One thing that I did like one time when I was there was their floor seating -- it gave the whole place a really authentic feel.

Ratings_icons Thai Classic Restaurant on Clark St. in Wrigleyville

This is a great little Thai place in Wrigleyville. The dining room is very nice. Their soups are very tasty, in fact it's the kind of place where you want to try every item on the menu at least once because it's all good. Get something spicy and order a soothing Thai iced tea to wash it down, delish!

Ratings_icons Great Place

Great place for Thai, dine in, take out, delivery, always delicious. Pleasantly surprised to find they have a brunch on Sundays, great way to try the menu out. Highly recommend anything with their peanut sauce or green curry.

Pros: Peanut Sauce, Green Curry, Brunch

Ratings_icons Best Thai Food in Chicago

Thai Classic is by far the best place to go for Thai food in Chicago. I have been to dozens of Thai restaruants throughout the Chicagoland area and beyond and have not tasted a better Pad Thai then here at Thai Classic. The other dishes stack up just as well including the Pad See Ew, drunken nooodles and others. The place is fairly priced and the ambience, though nothing spectacular, is certainly clean, nice and relaxing. The buffet on the weekend is also very good and fairly priced as long as you understand that you are not going into the Old Country Buffet. In other words, the options are adequate but not endless. The people are very nice and the service is attentive. I have been eating here for the past eight years and highly recommend it.

Pros: Food, Service

Cons: Very relaxing music but might put you to sleep

Ratings_icons Good food, Good service, BYOB

We had a big group of people last week. I have never been to this place before. Me and all my friends really enjoyed it . Good food ,good service. All the staffs are so friendly. They got pretty big menu, And you should try "Jungle curry dish" and "Salmon panang curry dish", they are nice spicy and pretty tasty. The food ranges from mild to very hot. Prices are very resonable. I am definitely going back.

Pros: Healthy Food, lots of veggie dishes,BYOB.

Cons: Parking

Ironically, a few hours ago I would have recommended this place. My good friend , my children, and I had been thinking about it all day. We were met at the door with these words from the waitstaff: "Are you going to clean up after your children. Sometimes they make the table messy". This was said as if it were a condition as to whether or not we would be seated. No hello, good evening, how many? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought it was the job of the waitstaff to clean up the table. I have a different profession. We were highly offended. My three children are incredibly intelligent , and accostumed to dining out- they suggested Radhuni a little further up the street. It was awesome. They didn't mind wiping the table behind us. I also like Al Andalous on the same street.

Ratings_icons Very Good Thai Food, served in elegant surroundings, at reasonable prices; and, BYO.

Despite obvious competition in choice of Thai eateries, this one definately rates a 'cut above' most. Ambience is quiet and elegant, and includes some sit on cushion floor seating. Food was excellent and prices reasonable. Pad Thai with Tofu, chicken pad prik King, and Beef in Red Curry are all recommended. It's also BYO.

Pros: Wide selection of delicious spicy Thai Food at reasonable prices. And, BYO

Ratings_icons Good food, bad service

When my girlfriend and I went there, it was early evening on a Sunday; the place was maybe half full. We were never sure who our waiter was because a different person seated us, brought menus, filled our water, took our order, brought our food... then we couldn't get anyone to come back. We had asked for some chili paste when our Pad Thai came out, which was brought out quickly, but then we never saw anyone at our table again. Not to refill water, not to ask how things were, nothing. We had to go ask for more water, even then we got A refill. No one even came to take plates away after they had been sitting there 15 minutes. But the group sitting at the low-table up on the pillowed section right behind us, the waiter was there, constantly bringing and taking plates... and practically feeding them while he was there.

We finally had to go ask one of the three people standing back by the register to come clear our plates and bag up the leftovers. And did anyone bring that back out? No. We had to go ask. The food was fine, even well above average, but the service was abysmal. Maybe an OK place for carry-out or delivery, or maybe if you have a group and can get the prime "you actually get waited on" seats... but I don't think I'd dine in there again.

Pros: Hot, fresh food

Cons: Unorganized, poor service

Ratings_icons Good price for buffet but the food isn't that good

I'm Thai and I know so well what tasty Thai foods are really like. I went there with another friend for lunch buffet. There were not many selections. The Tom-yum soup was terrible, far from Authentic Thai food. There were not that many meat in any dishes. The satay was alright. However, the other fried appertizers were no longer crispy (we were there early too). I would not recommend this place to anyone or go there again unless I'm really hungry. If you are looking for great value meal, but not authentic Thai food, maybe try the weekend buffet. We also drove around for more than 15 minutes for parking spot.

Pros: Great service, Nice setting, Clean restroom

Cons: Bad Tom-yum soup, No parking

Ratings_icons superb Sunday brunch!!

Went with a big group to the Sunday brunch. It's amazing what quality and diversity you get for hardly any money!

Pros: best food, low prices, nice place

Cons: can take a while to get drinks

Ratings_icons Best thai in chicago ! Excellent service!

abjam_21

Everything in this place in made from scratch.. unlike the other places where premade stuff is heated up. We spent some time in bangkok last year and this place comes closest to the food offered. The best thing about this place is that it os perfect for any occation.. romantic setup.. family dinner.. out with friends. The ambience and setting serves all. The food though is the best part. Extremely vegetarian friendly.

Pros: Excellent Food! Superb ambience!Love the sunk seats

Cons: Slow service at times.. though they are really friendly

Ratings_icons thai meets chinese

went for thai, got a mix of that with a lot of chinese flavor. I've had some of the best thai food in San Francisco over the last several years and Thai Classic, though, tasty, is not really Thai in my opinion. The service is great, prices reasonable, so if you want a tasty blend of Asian food, this is a good place.

Pros: good food, tasty

Cons: not authentic thai

Ratings_icons Awesome Thai

tonyhfakhari

I was never a huge fan of Thai until I had lunch at Thai Classic. The food is amazing. The service is exceptional. My favorite dish is Lad Nar in beef. The sauce is Yummy. I also like the fact that they serve brown rice too; something you don't see at that many Thai places. One of the best things I love about Thai Classic is that you don't ever have to wait to long to get a seat.

Pros: Inexpensive, Atmosphere, Quality of Food

Cons: Parking

Ratings_icons I love this place.

My friend and I didnt know what to expect when we stepped into this little hole in the wall surrounded by the yuppiness galore of local bars and other thai joints. Once we were seated, I took a good look around me and realized that the restaurant was much bigger than I thought and there were some nice touches to the place, like the little area where you could eat like the people by sitting on the floor. The satay wasn't the ordinary slither of chicken on a stick. They were actual chicken breast pieces that were so juicy and thick. I didn't feel like having any more meat that day, so I ordered tofu fried rice which was a pleasant surprise. The service was excellent and the restaurant did not skimp out on the food at all. If you're in the area, don't miss out on this wonderful treat.

Pros: inexpensive, great food, great service

Cons: bad parking

Thai Classic is a hidden treasure. The food is fantastic, service is friendly and prompt, and the prices couldn't be better. This is a great place for a casual dinner with friends- the tables on the floor make for an unusual dining experience.

Pros: inexpensive, never crowded, fabulous food

Cons: BYOB

Ratings_icons Excellent Thai Cuisine

peter_behle

We ducked into this little restaurant one evening and enjoyed a wonderful meal with bright Asian flavors in a casual dining room. There are some floor tables where you dine sans shoes, but you can also grab one of the above-ground tables, too. The food is nicely presented and the flavors and textures are right on. If you want beer or wine to quench your inevitable thirst, though, you'll have to bring your own.

Pros: Great food

Cons: No parking, No alcohol
