I've been coming here for years. The office could definitely use an update, but that doesn't bother me that much. i am now seeing a new Dr. Beak, and she is great. The offices front staff is newer and much better and friendlier than years past. Would definitely recommend this office to anyone.

I was in the office the day the aforementioned post by "Mark" created his big scene. He should be ashamed of himself. As a grown man causing such a stir, especially when I was there with my three school aged children. I've never had a problem with this office. The staff is always friendly and courteous. However, my family doesn't try to BULLY three women with insults, just to try to get what they want.

Dr Nicholson is a great doctor. Unfortunately, his office staff is terrible. The women regularly complain to each other about patients who call on the phone right in front of patients who are sitting in the waiting area. When I was in the office recently for tooth pain and my doctor wasnt in, I asked to see another doctor. Their business model does not allow this and when I tried to explore other ideas with the office manager she was rude and told me, "If you don't like it, there's the door" I will not be going back to this office again. VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL OFFICE STAFF.

I called up their office to make mine and my husband's 6 months appointments one month ahead (April) of the six months deadline (May). I was then informed that our dentist has left the group and that we needed to see another dentist. I didn't mind at all, but the woman on the other line then informed me that I couldn't make an appointment for either one of us until September with any of their dentists. I asked her to recheck the schedule again and look for any available dates since it's only April. To which the woman dismissingly replied, "There's no other available dates! We are too busy." I then replied that I might have to go to a different dental group because that's a little too long to wait. To which the other lady replied, "Okay" and hanged up. About a week later, they called my husband and informed him that I was scheduled to see another dentist on May 29th. A schedule I had made and didn't recell when I first went into their office 6 months ago. I called and talked to their front desk why they had failed to inform me of my prior schedule and why I and my husband were denied to see a dentist until September for our 6 months cleaning. The woman simply replied with, "That schedule was in another screen." When I told her that was a rather disappointing customer service. She simply replied with a question: whether I wanted to keep my May 29th appointment or not. This is by far the worst dental customer service I have ever received. Your reception/front desk staff display a NO CARE ATTTITUDE towards your clients with no apologies. You receive one star for the nice dentist I met who has now left your group. My husband and I are glad to be leaving your dental group as well.

I hate it when people complain about Doctors and Dentists. Do you ever stop and realize how many people call everyday asking if they can be seen that day? The healthcare profession will never be able to please everyone. Here is some advice start taking care of yourself and your teeth, its called a toothbrush people. Then maybe you won't have toothaches that need immediate attention.

Dr. Nicholson seemed competent and professional although he did only routine cleanings for me. Unfortunately, the unbelievable mismanagement in this office would cast a bad light on Dr. Salk! Last year I made my annual appointment the required 8 months in advance, and took off a half day of work --only to find the office CLOSED. No call before the appointment and no response to my SEVEN follow up calls. I finally went to the office and was told in a very indifferent manner by one of the office staff (I use both terms generously) that the office closed because of the snow storm. (Note there were no closures of schools or other offices on that day.) A shrug in response to my question about lack of a call to advise of closure and response to calls. I asked to see the office "manager " (fool that I was) and was told I would need to make another appoinmtent (are you ready?) for 6 to 8 months from then. Oh, and I was warned that I shouldn't try to get in as an "emergency" because other patients had done so ( in desperation for an appointment) . I'm not sure what punishment was inflicted--
And for those reviewers who seem puzzled or indignant by the many negative reviews, perhaps you have endless hours and months to spend trying but failing to receive minimal courtesy and follow up, I don't. However, I will make time to report this office to all appropriate county and professional associations, and will do so in the next month. I find it hard to believe they could keep affiliation with any respectable group that becomes aware of the extent and risks of this level of mismanagement and mishandling of patients. This I know. At some point a lucky attorney is going to cash in big on a lawsuit against this group. Dental emergencies do happen. And last I heard, negligence on the part of the professional doesn't fare well in court.

Okay...I have previously worked at a dental office, and I realized why many patients leave poor reviews online. It is purely out of malicious nature of people to bash others (i.e. professionals and customer service) because they have an unfulfilling lives and don't get what they want in life...
If this is how people get satisfaction out of life, I guess you have the right to do so...however, don't teach this ludicrous behavior to your children. I found that 90% of the complaints are not legitimate complaints, just mere misunderstanding (often case, patients or customers do not listen to the service person or provider...) They interpret as they want to believe and falsify the actual event that occured and give a one-sided bashing of the service persons. People have no lives...just wait until you get a business of your own, and you will realize how unfounded and ludicrous comments people write about your business and persons. God help us! People, stop being so miserable.

I don't know why everyone else is so harsh. We have had wonderful experiences here. Over the years, Dr. Lahtka has ended up re-doing my previous dentists (a supposed 5 star dentist) work on my veneers and crowns in the front of my mouth because they each kept falling off. All her work has STAYED in PLACE (unlike my old dentists work) and looks much better shape wise and colorwise! Also, she did similar work for my husband - as well, high high quality work that looks great.

Sure the office staff over the years hasn't always been very friendly, but more recently I have noticed a difference for the better.

One thing about this office that I love - there are no high priced pitches on trying to sell you on expensive proceedures that you don't need....no high end TVs or furniture or other. All the quality is in the dentists themselves - which is where I want the quality. I can deal with crabby receptionists any day.

TERRIBLE! The 4 in my family went in for our first visit, cleaning etc -to this offfice because of Assurant HMO; since I was kept waiting for ONE HALF HOUR-I spoke with the receptionist about how the other 3 visits had gone, and schedule appts. They said my hubby needed a crown and I told them I wanted to get a 2nd opinion. The office manager came out and told me that they were cancelling my cleaning appt, because I wasn't going to do things THEIR WAY. For this office-they don't work with you...IT'S THERE WAY OR THE HIGHWAY......

Terrible!!!! I have DMO Dental, so I had to go to this office. I arranged an emergency appointment with Dr. Lakha because I was having problems with my wisdom teeth. When I sat down in the chair she started to examine my teeth without putting a glove on. Then after only looking in my mouth for a minute she recommended I get another tooth pulled in addition to my wisdom teeth, without taking any x-rays because she said that it was bad. I left her office and went to have my wisdom teeth removed the next day and upon the other dentist taking x-rays before he pulled my teeth, he said he would not pull the additional tooth she recommended because it was fine and only needed a filling. Two weeks later, I went back to see Dr. Lakha for a full examination. Once again I sat down in her chair and she started to look at my teeth. She asked me why I did not have the other tooth removed that she wanted me to have taken out. I told her that the other dentist took x-rays and said it only needed a filling. After I said this she looked at the x-rays she had just taken and said, ??I guess you??re right it is okay, it just needs a filling.? After that she went over everything else in about 10 minutes and told me everything looked okay. I asked her about my gums and she said they looked fine and she didn??t even chart the pockets. I found this quite odd because I have gum disease. She then cleaned my teeth in a world record amount of time, 10 minutes, and it looked like she only took ten minutes. I asked her about a stain that was left on one of my teeth that my other dentist could always get off when I went for a cleaning. She said that the only way to get it off would be to have it professionally cleaned. After I left her office I called my insurance company and filed a complaint against her and did a fax form so I could be put on another dentist??s list for the next month. Dr. Lakha is the worst dentist I have been to and she is extremely rude and short with her patients.

Here is my experience with this group. I was told that my tooth was cracked and that it needed to be capped. I was not having any problems with it but took their advice. They drilled my tooth down to a stump and put a temporary cap on it on a Wednesday. On Friday it fell off exposing the nerve and leaving me in pain. The receptionist told me to go to Walgreens and get some temporary adhesive to put it back on, which I did. I never could get it on correctly so I started to call their emergency line Saturday morning and left numerous messages. No one ever returned my call. On Monday I called the office and was told that their emergency line wasn't working and hadn't for awhile. When I tried to schedule an appointment to get this tooth fixed, they wanted me to wait another 5 days!!! I insisted that they get me in that day, which they did but seemed very put out when I arrived. I got the permanent cap on now and can't eat on that side because everytime I bite down on that tooth it hurts. Run....don't go to these guys. Terrible hours...Monday through Friday 9-5. I have to take a day off work to go to the dentist. Something is wrong here....

I work in the service industry and have no sympathy for them and the bad reviews they earned them. From the far out scheduling and system that can only schedule 6 months out when it takes at least 7 months to get an apt to when I had a tooth ache and was told unless I was in excruitiating pain it would take 6 weeks to get in. The just really need to raise the bar.

It's pretty pathetic when patients complain about a procedures that doctors or dentists do and perhaps did not have successful result, without even understanding the circumstances they are faced with... My physician said that some patient's expectations are beyond reasonable. Sometimes, patients are telling doctors how to treat them. Why bother going to the office, if you already know you are not going to follow doctor's recommendations? I am a patient, so I understand some issues are legitimate. But, don't tell people you are forced to go somewhere because of your insurance said so. Maybe you should change insurance. I am sorry for people that cannot take any resposiblity of their own.

You know... I work at a service oriented business. And I am a patient in the office. And I can't believe the amount of, I am sure, unjustified complaints about the office. Yes. I had few bad experiences with customer service at the office. However, working at a service business, I know that many customers are just looking for ways to vent their unhappy situations to the customer service personnel.Let's think about how we can improve as customers or patients! Put ourselves in other people's shoes...

I called in May to make an appointment for my daughter. They couldn't get her in until November! The day before her appointment they called to say that there had been an emergency and the dentist was going to be out of the office the rest of the week. They wanted to reschedule. This didn't bother me, that happens. She threw out a few dates and we finally agreed on the 24th. Being that it was Nov. 18th I figured she meant Nov. 24th. (I realize now that she never said a month, just the 24th.) Took my daughter out of school, struggled to get my 3 other kids ready to go (including the baby who was due for a nap) got there 15 min early...nope! No appointment listed. The receptionist just looked at me. "No, there is no appointment for her today." I explained the history behind the appointment and she just repeated what she had said before. It was like she just expected me to say, "Oh, my bad!" and walk out the door. I had to ask her to look up my daughters name to see when it WAS scheduled for. She acted annoyed to have to bother. (Not to mention seemed to think I was an idiot) "I have her scheduled for Dec. 24th." Christmas eve!!! Who gets dental work done on Christmas eve except in an emergency! Why would I schedule it then? I told her we would be out of town then and would have to change that...again she was annoyed to have to change the appointment. After getting home and reading all of these other reviews I called back and cancelled that appointment. Save yourself some headaches and go somewhere else if you can. Those of you stuck there because of insurance...I feel for you!! Good luck!!!

I found this office through my insurance and was happy to find such a wonderful staff. My daughter was 4 years old at her first visit (3 years ago) and was seen by Dr. Nicholson. He was so great with her that I made an appointment with him. I hadn't been to a dentist in over five years because of my own fears, but he has a way of easing your fears. Now my only fear is that when I make future appointment, I'll find out he moved somewhere else. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist that is good with children.

I happen to be checking out the site and had read some of the reviews. Although I have not been diligent in going to office for routine check-ups, I had some dental treatments done at the office. I do agree that customer service need some work, but I had great experience with the doctors. I say doctors, because couple of dentists have treated me at different times.

I had great experience with my dentist, Dr. Lakha. I was so comfortable with her. She is a good dentist in my opinion.
I also was seen by Dr. Nicholson few times. He was very nice and professional, as well. Both of them treated my problems with friendly smiles and caring. I am very happy with the treatment I received at the office. Now, i just need to get my lazy butt up and go back for check up, again.

This office was a life saver. I had cracked my tooth one day and was in severe pain. I found this office from my HMO listings. When I called the office seeking immediate help, the receptionist was friendly and accomodating. She understood my need and made a quick appointment to be seen by one of the dentists in the office.

I was obviously nervous about seeing a dentist, but I had a great experience with Dr. Nicholson. He was so gentle and kind from the beginning. He was able to help me relax and treated me with utmost respect. He got me out of pain within short time and referred me to a specialist with all the explanation. I have since had crown put on the tooth by him, and had best of experience through the process. I strongly recommend this office and especially, Dr. Nicholson for his professionalism.

Thanks....

This office was a life saver. I had cracked my tooth one day and was in severe pain. I found this office from my HMO listings. When I called the office seeking immediate help, the receptionist was friendly and accomodating. She understood my need and made a quick appointment to be seen by one of the dentists in the office.

We signed up for HMO Dental insurance, which I am regretting, if all offices who accept HMOs are like this!

When I first called in April and made a dental appointment for my six year old, they didn't have any openings until June. That was okay, and I scheduled the appointment. A few weeks later, I got a call saying the doctor was going to be out of town, and we needed to reschedule. I thought, "Weird, why doesn't he schedule ahead like everyone else?" So I made another appointment for a couple weeks later. Not surprisingly, I got a call two days before the appt, and the doctor was going to be out again! I rescheduled, luckily getting an appointment the next week.

We were told to get there 15 mins early, and because we had a lot of troubling finding their office, buried in the depths of the Central Dupage Hospital building, we arrived at our appointment time. The receptionist went to speak to the dentist, who said we'd have to reschedule. I wasn't that upset-- after all, we were the ones who were late.

The part that made me angry was her attitude toward us. She was unhelpful, rude, and impatient-- even asking me to move aside so she could sign in the gentleman behind me. It was my husband-- who said, "This gentleman is with her..!" Kind of funny-- especially after she'd be so rude. Then the kicker came that the next available appointment is in September-- the current month being June!! What the heck? I know HMO coverage stinks, but is there really no opening until then?

I called our insurance and changed our provider as soon as we got home. No more snotty receptionist and dentist who keeps taking unscheduled vacations for me!! The last I heard, we were still paying for these services-- you'd think they'd show some respect!

I exprienced great treatment from this office. I had a problem and had no where to turn. This office worked with me and my insurnance company ( I have the crappy HMO plan ) and they bent over backwards for me. I felt I was in good and caring hands. The front desk and office manager were the best, proffessional and friendly. I have horror stories about other HMO offices that treat the insurance plan and not the patient. This place knows their stuff and treated me without regard to the co-pays. I liked that the office was clean and my horrible tooth problem is now being fixed. Thank God I found this office. Hats off to a job well done.

I have been seeing Dr. Lohtka at Central DuPage Dental Group for almost 2 years. My husband and I really like her and feel very comfortable with her. There was a time at the dental group when a rude receptionist worked there, but she is no longer there and their office staff is very friendly, especially Ariel
I give them my full endorsement.

I, too, am stuck with this dental group because of insurance. I was skeptical from the start because on my first visit, in front of waiting patients, the veteran receptionist, was fighting with a new receptionist, who was quitting because it was "not working out." Can't say I blame her. The veteran was telling her how selfish she was being and to think of someone other than herself (veteran wanted to take a vacation). On top of this, she was rude to me upon arriving and upon leaving on that visit and on every visit since. But far worse than the rude receptionist, is the treatment my 4-year old daughter has received. Long story, but basically she had been complaining of tooth pain for months. The pain kept her up some nights. He said she was fine on 2 separate visits. He didn't ask any questions, showed no concern, and offered no solution. I took her to her pediatrician, who didn't have an answer, but at least seemed to care. She prescribed an antibiotic. Well 4 weeks later, my daughters face is very swollen and red on the side of the tooth. It is very scary to see. I paged the dentist twice, and he basically told me there is nothing he can do other than try an antibiotic, and that the office is closed. He was very annoyed that I even called. Gave me no advice for her pain, no indication of what the problem might be, not a shred of concern. Just a cold "we're closed," which I obviously knew, as I had paged him. Why couldn't he understand why I felt this was an emergency? I am not a crazy mother who pages doctors for fun. I've done it a total of 3 times in 7 years. I was terrified when I looked at my daughters face. I paged the pediatrician, and after asking me numerous questions, she told us to go to the ER or her Saturday clinic hours first thing in the morning. I will not be allowing this dentist to see my children again.

I am a dental veteran! I have poor teeth and routinely go to the dentist at least 3 times a year for cleanings and maintenance work. I have had 6 root canals, multiple fillings and 9 crowns put on over the course of the past 15 years. I had to switch to Central Dupage Dental Group because of an insurance change at my work. I have been with this group now for just over 2 years and am waiting for the day that my insurance at work changes, because I will leave this practice in hopes of finding a dental group where the office staff is not as verbally abusive.

There is one person on the office staff, the administrative secretary/receptionist who is in charge of scheduling, intake, answering the phones, and billing. She has hung up on me numerous times.

There has never been a time when I have called the office when she has not been rude to me. There has never been a time when I have come to the office when I have not witnessed her being rude to other patients or myself. Scheduling is a frustration, billing is a frustration, and she makes no bones about how you might be inconveniencing or annoying her by using an exasperated tone, rolling her eyes, combative speech, tossing papers back...it goes on and on.

This receptionist at the Central DuPage Dental Group is the first person of contact for any patient. This woman in her poor and yes, I?ll use the word abusive, attitude toward all patients gives Central DuPage Dental Group a bad name.

I do have to state that Dr. Sokhey has been outstanding and it was solely for her expertise that I put up with this. Dr. Sokhey is professional, kind, and excellent in all procedures she has performed on me.

I saw Dr. Nicholson here for awhile until I came to my senses and changed to a real dentist. When I started seeing him, I was not told that he was just out of school and had not treated patients before. Midway through a root canal it was obvious that he had no idea of what he was doing. I have spent over $3000 re-doing the shoddy work he has done, not to mention the discomfort and time wasted!

The entire staff, dentists included, isn't the friendliest bunch there is. They are busy and efficient, but not very into making their patients feel at ease. They take all sorts of insurance, which is why I went there in the first place. All the work I had done there seemed to be done well. Once I refused xrays because I thought I might be pregnant, and the dentist had the nerve to ask me if it was a planned pregnancy (I was 23 at the time, which in the suburbs is relatively young). That's the last time I went there. Overall, if you aren't a nervous dental patient and don't mind in and out type service, this practice isn't so bad.
