I was stunned to see Dr. Etherton blasted in another review. She has been wonderful with the pets we have brought to her over the last 14 years. We have never been rushed out, and I find it incomprehensible that she would allow an animal to suffer because she was in a rush to leave. On the contrary, she has stayed late when I came in with an animal in acute distress. That is simply not the vet I know. She did send me on to an emergency vet clinic when it became obvious her clinic was simply not up to treating the disorder. That is first-rate professionalism.
Over the years I have used all the vets at GTAC, and they are all first rate. Dr. Kolenda has put together a first rate team. Dr. E is my primary vet, but the other vets there are similarly dedicated to animal welfare.

I have been taking my two dogs and two cats to Dr. Sonja Grimm at Green Trails since they were all babies. Dr. Sonja has to be one of the best vets in Naperville. She is caring, understanding, compassionate, patient, tolerant of my millions of questions, and always answers them with wonderful detail and explanation. She takes the time to listen to my concerns and always checks over my animals thoroughly. Dr. Sonja is also very respectful of my choice of treating my animals more holistically then most conventional vets. She never argues or uses scare tactics with me when I refuse certain vaccinations or medications, some of the other vets there are not as accepting of a more natural approach to animal care, but I think Dr. Sonja is very open-minded. She has also been the surgeon for every one of my animals' spay, neuter, declaw, teeth cleaning, aural hematoma repair, umbilical hernia repair, etc. and every single procedure she has done has been absolutely beautiful with no complications at all ever. I cannot say enough great things about this vet. She always returns my calls immediately and talks to me personally instead of relaying her answers through a receptionist, if I have a concern about one of my animals she always finds a way to fit me in even on her busiest days, and I never mind waiting for such a great vet. Even with my most uncooperative and ornery oldest who literally turns into Cujo when we have to take him in, she is nothing but patient and understanding.

Overall, this clinic is fantastic. With 4 animals, I expect to spend a lot of money when I go in, but considering some other places, their prices are extremely reasonable, especially for the excellent care my animals receive. The techs and receptionists are always friendly, diligent, and organized. If I call with a concern and want my animal seen, 9 times out of 10 they get me in on the same day. Sometimes I may be a squeeze in and have to wait in the room a little longer for the vet to get around to me, but it??s a small price to pay, and it beats getting blown off completely (which has happened to me at other places a lot). The other vets at Green Trails are also great (but obviously, Dr. Sonja is my first choice). My animals have also seen Dr. Ovitt. When my Rottweiler puppy had a severe reaction to vaccinations, I rushed him in right away and she met me in the front reception area and took him right into the back, hooked him up to fluids and got his vomiting under control immediately. No waiting at all, boy was I impressed! She watched him for a few hours, and when she gave him the okay to go home I felt confident and relieved that he was stable and that he received the best care and attention possible. I have had nothing but excellent experiences every time I go into Green Trails. I admit, sometimes I am not the easiest of clients, I have high maintenance animals and sometimes I may insist my animals need to be seen when they don??t really need to be seen, but ALL of the staff has always been patient and understanding with me and I have never been turned away or ignored no matter how small the concern, or how stupid the question. Totally deserves all five stars?maybe more!!

I felt compelled to add to the discussion here about Green Trails, because of the review by Lynne C

Lynne, I am truly sorry for your loss. We recently lost our 10 year old boxer mix who was dear to us and a true family member.

My experience with Green Trails is stellar in every regard and I find them all to be professional, caring, compassionate, and very reasonably priced for the level of care received. I give them my highest recommendation and believe that it would be difficult to find a better team. This includes Ruth!

As far as the accusation that a veterinarian would be in the profession simply for the money, you should be aware of a few things. First, Veterinary programs, due to the small number of schools and high number of applicants, are more competitive to enter than medical school. Because of this, most veterinarians could have gone to medical school, dental school, chiropractic school, etc. All of these other professions make loads more money for the same amount of schooling. Vets become vets because they love animals, not for the money.

I don't usually write reviews, but felt impelled to when I read the mean-spirited comments written by another client.

I've taken my cats and dog to Green Trails Animal clinic for 3 years. We have seen all of the vets and they all are very caring for my menagerie of pets. The clinic is very professional and clean, the support staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They always seem to squeeze me in when I need a last minute appointment.

When I had to have my beloved Misha put to sleep...they cried with me. I was too upset to stop to pay the bill, they graciously billed me.

They also individually signed a condolence card and sent it to me. I think this is a great clinic.

For Lynne C.

Ruth happens to be my wife. I can attest to you that my wife is an extremely caring individual. I will not let her get sucked into this childish behavior. She will research your claim and will report to all authorities the findings of this accusation.

This accusation is not just aimed at her, but any affiliate of hers. She belongs to community of veterinarians who support each other. They cry together when an animal is sick, they search out answers from a vast number of affiliates when no answers can be found. Time is not an option for the needs of a suffering animal.

I sympathize with your loss, truly I do. But I have to say your taking your grief out the wrong way. My wife has shared many joys and many sorrows in her career. Most people don't bring their pet to a clinic because it's doing well, often times, pets come in dire need.

As I know it, Green Trails is an excellent clinic, that offers the most advanced medicine for your pets. I know that Green Trails does not have emergency hours. I assure you that they work closely with local emergency clinics, receiving calls throughout the night.

Your review of my wife and Green Trails is cruel and exposes what is in your heart.

We brought our dogs to Dr Ruth Etherton for 10 years and our Yellow Lab died in her care. She is a cold and uncaring Dr. She didn't even want to operate on our labs spleen 5 yrs ago because it was a holiday weekend. My husband insisted that she must in the event it ruptures - with a loud sigh - she finally agreed. Then 5 yrs later she operated on our lab for a twisted stomach. Again a holiday weekend, she made my husband carry her to an Emergency Clinic in Lisle where the "caregivers" watched her bleed to death all night, without calling anyone (or without Dr. Etherton answering her calls). In addition, she refused to loan him her stretcher for the transfer - in the event she might need it on her holiday weekend. This woman is cold. Do not see her. She does not care about the animals. It is clear she is ONLY in this for the money. She is cold and cruel.

PROS: NONE!
CONS: NUMEROUS!!!!

I was very impressed with Dr. Petritis. I did not sense any level of frustration about all my questions and concerns about my dog. She took the time to answer every question thoroughly. She seemed genuinely concerned that all my questions were answered. This was the first time that my dog seemed relaxed during her exam. I love the fact that the examing table can be raised up or down to accommodate the size of the animal. The table itself is padded and can also register the animal's weight. The staff that I dealt with were pleasant and very helpful. I will definitely bring my dog there again.

PROS: Close to home. Hours are great. Clean.
CONS: None that I am aware of.
