The Scene
When Natalie Tessler couldn't find a decent manicure in the Loop, she opened her own body-boosting, soul-soothing spa downtown. The result: a clean, comfortable place to trade in business-casual for plush white robes and slippers. Unwind in the New-Age-y "relaxation room" until an amiable escort leads you to your treatment room.

The Services
Dry skin loves the "Buff and Drench," a rejuvenating body wrap that exfoliates and moisturizes you inside a warm paraffin cocoon. An upper-body massage makes you melt as your skin is lavished with scented oils and lotions. The luxurious signature facial takes a corrective approach to skin care; customized to your skin type, it purifies pores while you enjoy a hand/foot massage. Other treatments include manicures, pedicures, waxing and microdermabrasion. Rinse off in a rain shower before heading back to the office.

The Details
Massage, body treatments, facials, hair removal, sunless tanning, manicure/pedicure.

Skip the Hot Stone Pedi

by Anonymous

I booked a hot stone pedicure ($65) and was assigned to Stephanie. I would recommend that you ask for someone else if you find yourself in the same boat.

When we got to the "hot stone" part of the pedicure, I felt like I was taking part in a ritual rather than a pedicure. As the stones were lightly (and I mean lightly) passed over my feet in very methodical movements, I thought I'd soon hear chanting :-) My feet were not massaged at all and there was a very quick massage of my calves. Stephanie then put some pebbles (which by now were cold) in between my toes and messily wrapped my feet in a cold, wet towel (see a cold pattern here?) Several of the stones fell out and I watched Stephanie open up a corner of the towel and try to find the "stoneless" toes by feel. This would have been amusing had I not been so disappointed in my services so far.

When the pedi was done, I was almost relieved to check out an pay. When asked how my services were, I quietly said I was disappointed and was referred to the spa director. She asked me to only pay $45 (for a regular manicure) and to be sure to ask for one of the "senior, more experienced" techs next time around: Marjie, Kennise or Monika. Would have been good to know this before I booked their most expensive pedi service. I doubt there will be a next time for me.

Best Wax!

by jamie B.

I went to this Spa in 2007 for my birthday and got a brazilian wax and massage with Maxine and Erin. I have to say it was the best! I don't know what that other review was talking about but, Maxine was the best experience that I have ever had with a wax like this. She was very personable and made me feel very comfortable.I have been back to her a couple of times since. Erin was awsome too. I will go back to Spa Space for a massage but I will seek out Maxine wherever she goes. Anyone trying to locate her can email her (thanks to her business cards) frenchie_715@yahoo com

Very Relaxing.

by J99

I was given a gift certificate by my sweet hubby as I've been so stressed out at work. I decided to try the Head and Toe massage. When I walked in I was instantly greeted and given water. The waiting area was a little crowded, but I wasn't there long. My therapist DeAnna picked me up and took me upstairs. My massage was exactly what I needed, very relaxing. I especially enjoyed having my neck worked on and the head massage. DeAnna's pressure was exactly right and I will try to go back and see her as my schedule (and budget) allow.I added a waxing service with Endira. I won't go into details, but it was quick and painless which is exactly what you want during that type of service!
The checkout was fairly quick, no complaints. I didn't have cash for a tip, but they let me use my card. All in all, a nice afternoon.

Pros: Staff

Cons: Parking/Valet is pricey, next time I'll take the train

Best Trip Ever!

by Ilrt1014

Once again I treated myself for my birthday, and this was, by far, my best visit. I was slightly annoyed when I arrived-a bachelorette party got there right when I did. They quite frankly overlooked me entirely to pamper the big group-even though my treatments cost over $400, and I doubt their?s did! Once again Jennine is an absolute genius-never loose her! I have been there before where some of the techs were not that great, but this time I had the best techs working with me. The changing room/lounge is still the most relaxing place on earth! I just think better front desk help would be beneficial!

Pros: Wonderful techs, relaxing environment

Cons: Front desk help

Great Facials/Massages!!

by Bjelland

I have gotten several facials from Tara at Spa Space who always does an outstanding job. Shes very knowledgable and really listens to what your issues are and is able to really focus on them. She does great extractions, and does them ALL, which is required for me in a good facial! I've seen several massage therapists previously, and they've been great, but this last time I saw Jerry who was amazing! 1.5 hours (thanks to my husband!) He really is familiar with tense muscles and how to make you feel relaxed. Both of them together put me in such a great state of relaxation. I will go back to see them again and again.

Pros: Outstanding services

Unprofessional Microdermabrasion

by Tangerine115

Skip going to Spa Space for a microdermabrasion. I have purchased microdermabrasion packages before but thought I would try something close to home. This was by far the worst one that I?ve had and very unprofessional. The person giving me the micro was not skilled, it should never be painful. She also ran into problems with the machine and was pushing other facials on me until the machine was fixed. After the machine was fixed, it took all of 10 minutes to complete. I had a friend with me that also did the micro as well and it took all of 15 minutes for her to complete....pretty pricey for a 10 minute facial. I was offered spa dollars to come back but I will never go back again. I get the feeling this is more of business on customer quotas rather than a spa experience for the customers.

Best manicure I ever had

by hbrownell1213

I'm in town visiting a friend and was able to get a same day appointment on a Sunday afternoon. Alisha gave me the best nail polish job I've ever received (and I'm a mani junkie). I went for the vanilla almond manicure and it smelled SO GOOD. Loved it! I'll definitely be getting another service before leaving town.

Wonderful Massage so-so ambiance

by abc123chi

I am new to Chicago and have been investigating spa's in all different neighborhoods to be my new favorite spot. I am a frequent spa goar and consider myself to be somewhat of a connoisseur. I had heard good things about Spa Space so thought I would give it a try. I had a massage with Beth and it was wonderful. I have been having some pretty intense neck/shoulder problems and she worked on me very powerfully but delicately she even incorporated some techniques and stretches that I have not before experienced... which kind of says a lot. I also had a facial. The facial was just average. I really enjoyed the products and the overall process and technique of the facial however my facialist seemed not so interested and even rushed. Also, she had the music on so low I heard far more of construction and her chair squeaking than relaxing music. Lastly the "relaxation room" was definitely lacking. Three magazines, no music and I assume it must be near the break room because all i could hear was very loud chatting. Luckily my appointments ran on time and I spent very little time in there.

Pros: massage, products, treatments

Cons: results dependant on who your treatment is with

Best deep tissue massage ever ...request Beth!!

by JM60601

I just moved here from DC and had no idea where to go to get a massage. I tried city search and came across Spa Space. I had no idea what to expect. My back is full .. I mean FULL of knots. I try to get a massage atleast once every two months... and have NEVER had a better massage..Beth is the best! I weight train pretty seriously and I am a soccer player...I have never felt better after a massage. I got a 30 minute massage and wish I would have booked an hour! I will absolutley go back. The salon was VERY clean, the staff had the best customer service. I was very impressed. I would recommend this salon to any athlete looking for a great deep tissue massage!

Pros: everything about this place!

Best Pedicure and Manicure in any city!

by 1554

I am a licensed nail tech in another state other than Illinois. I am temporarily living in the Chicago area due to a job for my husband. I can't be a nail tech in Illinois without an Illinois license, and I didn't bring my tools to even do a pedicure on myself due to lack of room. If you ever have met a nail tech, we usually own suitcases of "stuff" for nails.
I got so darn sick of looking at my nails and knew I wouldn't be able to get back home for at least 3 weeks to even give myself a pedicure, so I got on Citysearch and found Spa Space. I looked at the menu and the choices were outstanding. I love the smell of roses, so I picked the rose pedicure. It proved to be a perfect choice.
Well, for starters, I was lucky enough to have Jackie O. be my nail tech. I received the absolute best pedicure of my life. She works so hard and is so detail minded, it is really nice to know there are still people out there that really care, and aren't just going though the motions. My feet have NEVER looked so good. First, Jackie is a great nail tech, and secondly, the owner of the salon has spared no expense when it comes to quality products and attention to detail and not just supplying products to her employees to "just" get the job done...The prices for the pedi's and mani's are right in line with the prices where I worked at top salons in my home state, but the extras that my salons charge for were included in the price at Spa Space. I have read complaints about not being able to charge tips to credit cards. Yes, that is an inconvenience, but I truly appreciated being told that information when I booked the appointment so I could be prepared with a cash tip for my service provider, and more and more spas are going that route, so it shouldn't be a factor in concidering going to this salon. The owner of Spa Space has truly supplied such wonderful things for clients to really feel like they are getting their money's worth and Jackie truly is wonderful!!! Thank you Jackie!!!

Pros: Steps away from Ogilvie Train Station. Blocks from Union.

Cons: Absolutely nothing!!!

Best brows, facials!

by lauren82

So, I have been a very loyal client of Jai's fo years, brows, bikini, and most recently facials. She does the most amazing brows and facials, and even makes the bikini wax comfortable. Though recently the desk screwed up my appointment and put me with another estetician, it was not nearly as good or comfortable. There wasn't any apology from the not so friendly girl at the desk and i only went to the other girl out of pure desperation! I will never see anyone else, it proved to me that I have truly chosen well with Jai, I had to take one star away for the desk, but i reccomend Jai for waxes and facials!!!

Most incredible facial

by chaaal

I had the Fire & Ice facial at Spa Space last week, and had to write a review because I loved it so much. Although I scheduled a basic facial, the esthetician convinced me to upgrade to this particular treatment. I was a little skeptical (and even a little annoyed, frankly as it was significantly more expensive), but the facial was amazing - everything smelled so good, and although it was really intense (the fire part feels really hot) and I thought I'd walk out red & blotchy, I wasn't at all. I didn't even have to put on makeup to go out for dinner afterwards. Anyhow, my skin has not looked this good in years. This was a true RESULTS facial. I will definitely go back!

Pros: phenomenal facial, nice locker room amenities, clean

Cons: no saunas, street parking difficult

Great Massage

by Folly79

I am not very experienced with Spas, but my experience at Spa Space was very pleasent. The environment was nice and the staff very friendly. I was put at ease and lost any nervousness I might have otherwise had on entering an unfamiliar environment.
I'm taking the time to write this review because the deep tissue massage I received from 'Veronica' was by far the best massage I have ever gotten. This is based on about 10 massages that I have gotten in my life.

Pros: Deep Tissue Massage

Cons: I could see parking being a problem.

Big Fan

by CCBowles

I've been to Spa Space several times over the years for waxing and occasional nails b/c it's close to my office, and I have sent tons of friends for their brazilian waxing. I've had to try a few different waxers b/c two have left since I started going there, but all have been excellent. My biggest thing is that the place is spotlessly clean - very important when you're having such an intimate service. Anyhow, I recently had friends in town and they wanted to visit a spa, so I decided to give Spa Space a try for the other services that I'd never done there. We all had 90-min. massages, facials and pedis. My friend also had a seaweed wrap that she loved. Everything was amazing from start to finish. We were actually arguing about which of us had the best masseuse (I pick mine, her name was Veronica). I don't remember who my friends had, but they were both so happy. The service was also really great - everyone was super-nice and helpful. We didn't want to leave!

Pros: reasonable prices, awesome services, valet parking

Cons: small-ish locker room, can be hard to get in

They earned a loyal customer

by rastrau

I went there on a Friday for some Mom & Me time and we both really enjoyed it. I was signed up for one of the triple play packages - facial massage and mani/pedi and my mom just did a massage and a spa mani. I did get suckered into an upsell on my facial, but I don't regret it because my skin looked fabulous for days afterwards! I fully intend to go back for another. My massage was very good - not the best but certainly not a disappointment - and the nail technician had the best personality! I also appreciated that she actually massaged my hands and feet, she didn't cup her hand and beat my shin like the cheap-O nail salons do. I didn't like any of the polish colors available (I am super particular), so its a good thing my mom carries her own!

I would suggest that since they try so hard to maintain a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, they should caution the employees against walking into the waiting lounge and bellowing the customers' names for their next appointment. Really took me out of my cucumber-water induced zone a few times.

Pros: very personable staff, good package deals

Cons: loud voices in the relaxation lounge

Best massages, great facility

by jmorganlove

Have been to Spa Space many times for massages, and I keep coming back because the therapists are consistently great. It's not the most convenient for me, so I've tried other places in my neighborhood (Lakeview). Ultimately, I've become very loyal to Spa Space because I'm never disappointed. I've had a few other services there (manicure/pedicure/wrap) and they were all quite good, but I'm a massage person so maybe not the best judge of all that. If you've got the time and the means, go for the 2-hour massage and take a steam at the end.

Pros: rock-solid massages

Cons: location in Loop

wouldn't go back for a brazilian

by iheartspas

Maybe i'm just spoiled by the really amazing place i went to for brazilians while living in San Francisco, but honestly, I think Chicago has to be able to do better than what this spa had to offer. I actually went here for a brazilian twice, trying two different employees. I went back the second time only because i really wanted to be able to go here for my waxing, since the spa is located so close to where I work.

The first time, the aestitician did a mostly thorough job, until I got home and saw that she had entirely missed a spot! Although, I have to say, it was in a difficult to wax place. But shouldn't they know how not to miss spots? What was worse was that the inside of my thighs were actually bruised because she didn't pull the wax off correctly! The second time, I left the spa a sticky mess. There was actually an obvious chunk of dark green hard wax still stuck to me.

I think I'll spend my $60 elsewhere from now on.

Pros: Friendliness, Fairly Punctual

Cons: Brazilians

Fun Girl's Weekend Activity

by cruzerj

I went to Spa Space with 2 of my girlfriends for manis and pedis during a Girl's Weekend in the city. The receptionist greeted us and checked us in, then quickly instructed us to head up the ramp and to the back to the nail area. We were quickly greeted by the nail staff and were offered a beverage. Overall service for both manis and pedis was good. The nail area was spacious and had enough stations to handle 4 pedicures at the same time. Staff was very conscience of sanitation and were quick to tell clients that they only used buffers and file one time. Spa Space is a good place for group events.

Pros: Clean, sanitary, customer service

Cons: Parking, street parking can be difficult

Good place for parties & relaxing treatments

by nfletch57

My gfs and I went here for a bridal party. Everyone loved their services, I especially liked the organic facial. It was expensive, but worth it, my skin glows. My friends also liked their massages and facials best. Minus one star for the front desk girl that fakely greeted us. She acted busy, herded us to fill out forms, and seemed annoyed we were chatting. But I could see her house hunting online while we were waiting for our friend, obviously we must have "interrupted" her when we arrived. Thankfully I started with a wonderful massage and continued to have a pampered day. I wish I remembered the names of who I saw, I was honestly too relaxed to remember. Our group coordinator at spa space was cute and friendly and acted like our personal concereige. A big plus to having a group I'm sure. Also, the woman who helped with the drinks was very attentive. Overall Spa Space had great services and great service (minus our first encounter). Now I need more excuses to have a spa day for my gfs and I.

Disappointed and unpampered

by zeframe6

I was really looking forward to my Space Ritual massage, which advertises a mix of services, including an Indian head massage. I even explicitly indicated that I would like the masseuse to focus on my head/scalp and nothing. He didn't even touch my head! I was so disappointed. The rest of the massage was nice, but I was left wanting a head massage.

Also, the lady at the front desk is so loud, I could hear her through the door of my quiet room. Not only was she loud, but did not even provide a tour or explanation of where anything was. I go to spas to relax and not have to figure everything out, be overly cautious of where I'm going so not to interrupt others. For the amount of money I spent, I did not feel pampered or like I got my money's worth.

Pros: Great pedicures

Cons: Loud staff that doesn't listen to clients desires or orientate people to spa

Great facial, ok customer service

by misochic

While I will be back again for another fantastic facial from Jennine... this place took the haughty, bored spa-front desk staff to a new level. Definitely not a reason to stay away, but just know that your overall experience will be better than your first impressions might lead you to believe!

Pros: great facial, convenient street parking (weekends), ambience

Cons: front desk staff, product pushing

by mary1271

This place was awesome probably one of the best I have been too .Very clean, modern, upper-scale looking salon. I looked at the other reviews and was surprised at some of the negative ones. This place has shower rooms and lockers to put your things, they offer nice waiting room, with healthy snacks, I loved it...I got facial and THE best pedicure I have ever had in my life. Not only was the foot massage awesome but the color looked awesome and not only that but my feet were so relaxed I felt like I was walking on clouds all day. I even had the opportunity of meeting the owner she looked so busy but actually took the time to come over and talk to me. She asked me how I liked the salon...very friendly beautiful lady .Absolute gem of a salon. I would definitely recommend trying this place out, it is totally worth the money!
Definitely will go back again!!!

Detoxified Delight

by alisonwndrlnd

I finally made an appointment and tried Spa Space this past week. I tried the seaweed detox wrap, because my sister gets them sometimes and talks highly of them (not from Spa Space, but elsewhere). I did the 90 min treatment with the massage. I went in kind of at an odd time on a Friday (1:30pm), so the place was pretty dead, but that was good because I was taken good care of. I was taken to the room, and met the woman who was going to be giving me the treatment. She was very, very nice, and talked when she first started, and was very good about not talking when I was relaxing. My only complaint would be that during my treatment, while I was trying to relax there was lots of city noise. I know, this is hard to avoid in a city, so I can't really blame Spa Space, but I could hear horns and trains and ambulances. Once I finally relaxed, though, and got an amazing massage I was so deeply relaxed. I felt like I was walking on air, and the detox really did make me feel better. Not initially, but the next two days I felt better and less bloated than I had in a while (water weight loss).

I will definitely be going back.

Pros: Accessible from trains, Service, Price

Cons: Limited Parking, City Noise

Very unprofessional-do not know how to give a good facial

by dwasilko

My co-worker and I went to this spa on a last minute facial appointment and we were extremely dissatisfied. Our conceirge recommended this spa and we have told them not to recommend it to other guests. The girls in the front were extremely unprofessional and pushy. One girl turned to us and said, "Let's settle up...I need $90 from you now." I looked at her like, "are you kidding me?"
We waited for a while in the quiet room and my co-worker was picked up by her aesthitician first. My appointment did not begin until 30 minutes later which was really annoying.
My coworker had paid for her environmental facial and as she ended her appointment she inquired about the environmental products used on her skin. The facial lady turned to her and was like, "I didn't give you the environmental facial...you got the signature." So when my coworker went to the sign in desk, she asked the unprofessional girls at the front and they were like, "Oh you should have told the aesthitician you wanted the environmental." My co worker was like, "why do I have to tell the aesthitician, you should be telling her what i paid for upfront!"

My facial lady was very nice and seemed knowledgeable about skincare, but I was a little put off when she began the facial without examining my skin. She just went on the assumption of what I had written down. I also specified that I wanted major extraction and she just kept talking about products. When the time came for extraction, she popped a few things on my nose and called it a day. Didn't go near my foreheard, cheeks, chin, etc. As I relaxed with my mask, she lightly rubbed my arms but did not massage my neck or shoulders which was weird. I basically paid for a person to throw some products on my skin and pop a blackhead or two.

Pros: got us in last minute, evening appt's

Cons: unprofessional staff, push products

good massage, but small facility and rude receptionist

by gk27

My friend and I both went to Spa Space for a Swedish Massage. The facility was small, but clean. They only had two showers of which one had a problem with draining. The shower handle was broken and after 10minutes of being in the shower, I was worried that water would flow out of the shower room. Massage from Sarah was amazing (I recommend her). There was one particular lady at the reception desk that was rude to most of the customers and her coworkers. She was impatient and seemed annoyed, which didn't give us a pleasant way to end our spa experience. Overall, I feel like I can find a better spa in the Chicagoland area with similar price.

The worst pedicure ever!

by jescica01

I normally never take the time to do any on-line reviews, but with this latest bad service incident, I had to write about it. I took my boyfriend with me to do a couples pedicure inone of their private rooms. I was really hopeful this would be a good experience, however I was incredibly disappointed. The woman working on my feet cut my foot open with a filing tool , on my heel , from her careless exfoliating. She rubbed my heel open, literally raw. When she put my foot back in the water, my heel was stinging so bad I had to remove it from the water. I have two open sores now on the back of heel, and now I am fearing infection because it's still painful three days later. To add insult to the injury, the polish job was so bad, smudge marks on my skin, half of the nail wasn't even painted on my right pinky toe. So if you want a good pedicure , go elsewhere and save your money and time.

Pros: Quick Massage?

Cons: worst pedicure ever, parking

Terrible Spa Experience

by sfgirl9

I had heard about how great Spa Space was going to be from a friend. I was thrilled with the girl on the phone who was very accomadating but once I walked in the door it all went downhill fast. The place was loud and crazy like a hair salon and no one greeted me for several minutes. Then I was shown where to go. Someone from behind the bar area was the only one around to show me what to do in the changing room. The first robe I put on smelled like dirty socks as did the next one. After I was changed I was greeted by my massage therapist who was happily carrying his own water bottle but failed to offer to get me a drink. NEVER once during the entire event did he ever offer to get water or anything else to drink or even show me where to get my own.
I went for the seaweed wrap which I have had at several other salons and enjoyed. Spa Space does not have a shower in the room or near by to use to rinse off the seaweed prior to receiving the massage. I left with seaweed still covering parts of my body. This is NOT a service that should be provided if you have to rub off seaweed with a wet towel.
Overall this was a waste of time and money.

My husband sent my friends and me to Spa Space to celebrate my 40th birthday - we did one of their group packages, so each of us got a mani, pedi, facial and massage, They gave us a private room to hang out, eat and drink afterwards. All of us LOVED it (there were 8 of us) - from start to finish the experience was amazing. The service was above and beyond - they handled our food order and my husband sent wine & champagne, which they had chilled and ready for us. It's a big place, but has the charm and service of a more intimate place. We all left looking and feeling wonderful, and are very grateful to the staff for making our experience so memorable. Thank you Spa Space!!!

Pros: great treatments, nice staff, beautiful space

Cons: no hair services

Best brazlians, massage

by dzlove22

I've been going to Spa Space for 3 years for brazilian waxing (after trying other places in Chicago and never getting the "real thing") - and I was so surprised to read that someone had a negative experience! You must try Indira for her fast, thorough brazilians. She's the best! When I've been unable to get in with Indira, I've seen other estheticians, and they've been great too (both Maxine and Janine). Granted, it's not the most pleasant "spa treatment", but when possible I schedule a massage afterwards so I have something to look forward to. I like this place because of the high quality of the staff - I've literally seen eight or ten people and they have all been terrific. You don't have to worry about getting a lame massage or an incomplete wax. And the pricing, while not cheap, is not over the top. I'm completely sold on Spa Space!

Pros: service, atmosphere, robes, cucumber water, friendly, relaxing

Cons: can be hard to get in

I LOVED my Spa Space experience from start to finish - nice, professional staff, great space, heavenly rainshowers! Had the best massage of my life and the facial was also wonderful. I never felt rushed or overlooked. It was a great day and I can't wait to go back! Top notch.

Pros: ambience, quality of massage, rain showers

Cons: can't think of any!

worst brazilian ever

by dietcoke22

I came in for massage and brazilian. massage was ok, but nothing great. atmosphere was a little chintzy...staff at desk was nice, but staff at juicebar and lounge were rude. brazialian was awful...girl was like 18 years old, barely spoke, burned me with the wax and left me with a uneven landing strip! she kept RIPPING and RIPPING at the wax, not doing it in one swift motion. she totally sucked. dont go here, i had a better experince at mario triccoci for half the money.

Spa Space is the best day spa for personal services and group events

by korilwg

I love Spa Space for my personal spa services and for my work - I've experienced several treatments and the facials are the best I've received. I work in the hospitality industry and entertain frequently and don?t golf. I wanted to do a unique client event near the Loop, and I was searching for a day spa to take several clients to at once (I've also taken clients with me one-on-one and used their private pedicure suite). Spa Space is the only spa in Chicago that could accommodate my event. I hosted a smaller event (5 people with pedicures simultaneously), but you could do a large private event as well AND I loved its private room. You can use it to relax with clients, do a sales presentation or entertain - they can cater food and beverages for you too so that all you have to do is show up! It would be perfect for a baby or bridal shower! They also went above and beyond in giving my clients exceptional experiences from the moment they arrived.

Pros: Location, service, valet parking, private event space, overall spa experience

Best Spa Escape In the Loop

by ckurban

I needed a relaxing getaway from the daily grind of corporate mania, and escaped to Spa Space for a massage. I was able to get in right away and received one of the best combo swedish/sports massages ever. I left feeling rejuvenated and ready to face the afternoon! Relaxing area was a major plus for unwinding and the service was impeccable - friendly, polite and quick. Great retail area for last minute gifts - will definitely go back.

Pros: Great shopping/retail area. Location. Service.

Cons: Parking.

the worst eye brow wax ever

by tmb1117

I went in for an eyebrow wax and came out with no eyebrows. First she asked me it I ike them thick and not thin. I started to have a reaction and now I need to go to the doctor. So not only did I get stuck with a 20.00 wax job I now need to shell out over 100.00 on creams. DO NOT EVER GO THERE!!!!!!!!

Pros: NONE

Cons: WORST SERVICE EVER

The worst pedicure for $60

by kimmykat

Pros: Large space, private suites for couple services

Cons: Poor service, and bad results

Bad service

by jewels9900

While all the staff were very friendly and warm, the services I received were really poor. The pineapple scrub consisted of very little scrubbing at all. I've received better massages from my boyfriend. I told her to apply a lot of pressure and she did not...I did not feel any diiferent when I was done. They were also doing work in the spa and I heard pounding throughout my massage. Couldn't that be done after hours?? Toni did my pedicure, which was actually very nice and pretty. However, my french manicure done by another technician was by far the worst I have ever recieved. I asked for the vanilla almond scrub and was given the mango scrub. When the technican realized the mistake, she said "You don't mind, right? It does the same thing" instead of washing it off and giving me what I requested...I don't like mango scented products. She then applied the top coat to the manicure with a polish which clearly had been used on red polish that had not dried. My polish turned red. She stopped using that bottle, but never corrected my nail. When it was done my nails were streaky and all different lengths. The NEXT MORNING the polish had already chipped off. Clearly they use old polish. The spa room itself looked like it could have been a renovation done in someone's basement. I spent over $200 and have never been so disappointed. This place charges way to much for services that are mediocre at best.

Pros: Easily accessible by public transportation, friendly staff

Cons: poor services, high prices

Nicest Staff Around, Top Notch Treatments

by shopgirl16

Super friendly, warm and welcoming. The managers make you feel like they want you to be there. I watched them go out of their way to help a late client. The treatments are the best. Try the "Vitamin C" Facial with all SkinCeuticals products. You'll leave glowing.

Pros: Services

Cons: Parking

Amazing Spa Services!

by jessicalee37

I flew in from out of state for a stressful family gathering and decided I deserved to have a spa day. I happened upon Spa Space from all of their rave reviews and I was not disappointed! Everyone was extremely professional, friendly, and upbeat. Jemma, one of the managers, went above and beyond her job duties and made sure everyone in the waiting room was comfortable and never without some of their yummy cucumber water. I did pretty much everything Spa Space offered and it was amazing. I left feeling extremely relaxed and refreshed. I would recommend this spa to anyone (and may even make an excuse to fly in again just so I can go back!)

Pros: Staff, Services, Atmosphere

Cons: Nothing!

Not Worth it

by citygirl07

I went to spa space expecting this modern professional salon. They have the decor down, the staff on the other hand needs some work. First off the receptionists need a lesson in customer service and an attitude adjustment, snooty for no reason what so ever. Unfortunately they are the first thing you see when you walk into the salon. The nail department doesn't look like it belongs in the salon. The nail techs are not professional and the products are not consistent, meaning each nail tech uses something different. I was very disappointed, I read so many great things about the salon. I had a manicure and pedicure and they were both underwhelming. The one decent thing I liked about the salon was the pedicure was in it's own private room. Overall I would not recommend to anyone and for the price it's not worth it. i was in the salon in Apr 2006 maybe it's changed but I doubt it.

Pros: You get your own private room for pedicures, The salon decor is nice

Cons: The staff needs alot of help in customer service, It's a nail bar in disguise!

Best massage I've ever had, worst atmosphere

by dedelight

I went to Spa Space after reading about it in reviews and seeing it in Time Out Chicago. I was in for a 90 minute swedish massage. The front desk girls were rude and looked sloppy. I mean, this is a spa and the girl was wearing warm up pants! The locker room was ok, the waiting area is nice w/ dim lighting and day beds, but the changing area is cramped w/ no privacy. So my therapist, Andie, came to get me on time and she explained the difference between a deep tissue and swedish (which no one ever has before and I wasn't too sure). She ended up doing a mix of both and it was seriously the BEST massage I've ever had!! I wouldn't recommend this place if it wasn't for her. I liked her music a lot too, not just the typical Enya. When I left though those two girls at the front desk were again unfriendly and one was even rolling her eyes while helping a customer on the phone; very unprofessional! So if you're not worried about the "spa" atmosphere and you're just looking for some great massage work, then this is your place. But if you're looking for luxury and great relaxation, so somewhere else!

Pros: best massage ever

Cons: front desk staff

Great Customer Service

by shabam25

I took a day off of work to have my first Spa day. When I got to Spa Space they greeted me and brought me to changing room. The lady who greeted me had told me she would check me in. She forgot to check me in. When I had not seen my massage therapists after 45 minutes I went to find an employee. They apologized for my wait and helped me reschedule other appointments I had fo the day. Even though they messed up they were awesome at making sure my first spa day was a great experience. I am planning on visiting them again. The massage was wonderful! The whole experience was relaxing and highly enjoyable. Next time I'm goning to bring along a couple of girlfriends.

Pros: Wonderful service, relaxing atmosphere

Cons: a little expensive
