The Scene
When Natalie Tessler couldn't find a decent manicure in the Loop, she opened her own body-boosting, soul-soothing spa downtown. The result: a clean, comfortable place to trade in business-casual for plush white robes and slippers. Unwind in the New-Age-y "relaxation room" until an amiable escort leads you to your treatment room.

The Services
Dry skin loves the "Buff and Drench," a rejuvenating body wrap that exfoliates and moisturizes you inside a warm paraffin cocoon. An upper-body massage makes you melt as your skin is lavished with scented oils and lotions. The luxurious signature facial takes a corrective approach to skin care; customized to your skin type, it purifies pores while you enjoy a hand/foot massage. Other treatments include manicures, pedicures, waxing and microdermabrasion. Rinse off in a rain shower before heading back to the office.

The Details
Massage, body treatments, facials, hair removal, sunless tanning, manicure/pedicure.

Ratings_icons Worth a train ride??

Why would someone hop on a train from the northern suburbs to go to a spa in the city? Here are a few good reasons...your "spa" experience begins by taking your favorite book or magazine on the train...no traffic, no parking, and quiet, blessed quiet! You enter the spa and the wonderful feeling continues...calming colors and decor, soft curvy walls, a beautiful bar for a drink or lunch...I have only experienced a massage and it was glorious. Friends who have had manicures tell me the manicurists are wonderful. I intend to return to sample the other services!

Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Lunch from Nine

Spa Space is the perfect combination of spa amenities -- talented therapists, outstanding service, and a beautiful and relaxed environment. The spa services are world-class and the spa is immaculate. When I go to Spa Space, I feel cared for and pampered from the moment I walk in until I leave. They treat you as a special person, which makes this a special place!

Ratings_icons Found a Wonderful New Spa!!!

pixy_stix

After being disappointed with Salon 1800 the past few years but so happy with the esthetician that I faithfully booked appointments with for 5 years, I was hesitant to find a new esthetician. I booked an appointment at Spa Space after reading ratings on-line and I am completely happy! The staff was so friendly and the dressing room immaculate. The esthetician, Alicia, was very gentle with my face and gave me a great facial. I made another appointment before I left. Pricing is comparable to the other salons. It is also reassuring to know that there is a dermatologist on Spa Space's Management team.

Pros: Clean Dressing Rooms, Friendly Staff, Dermatologist Staff

Ratings_icons Wish I lived closer!

My hotel concierge sent us to Spa Space and we could not be more grateful! My husband had a massage that he said was the best of his life, and I stayed for a day of services. Let me tell you -- one was better than the next. Every member of the staff that I met was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. What a rarity! I LOVED my massage with Kasey and my pedicure was AWESOME. I went back the next day for a bronzing treatment where they scrub you down before applying tanning lotion. It felt great and my tan came out perfect - very even and natural. Next time I'm in town I will definitely be back.

Ratings_icons The BEST

I've been to almost all of the Chicago spas in search of my favorite and Spa Space wins the prize! This is a staff that really cares about your business -- they go to great lengths to make sure you're happy. I switched my services (and those of the client I brought with me) 3 times and no one ever made me feel that I was a burden. My client was looking for a place to have dinner and they printed out information from the internet for her. Now that's service! On top of it, the spa is beautiful and immaculate. You can't help but leave feeling great! Extra thank-you to the front desk for being so nice and patient! Only complaint - I waited a long time (almost 10 minutes) for my car from the valet.

Pros: beautiful, professional, relaxing

Cons: slow valet

I was not impressed by the young, inexperienced staff at Spa Space. My impression was they were 'wannabees' wanna be somewhere else, probably home since I came in late afternoon. The dressing rooms were adequate but the washable slippers needed to be replaced, at least stitched some holes. The waiting area, well used as the white cushions needed some cleaning. My treatments were thoroughly technical. Forget waxing my eyebrows, a last minute request, as she reminded me it's already five minutes past the hour!
