I would not refer Dr. Garcia to anyone with small children. I took my four year old son to see her yesterday and it was the worst experience ever. She was supposed to do a filling and a crown on his back tooth. My son has been to a dentist several times and has no problems with dental exams nor is he a cry baby. However, soon after she began working on him, he was screaming in pain and kept telling her it hurt. I noticed her knee was going up and down a mile a minute and that she was getting agitated. It was clear she wanted to get out of there as fast as she could. She assured me she had given him a shot of novacaine but I never saw her do it. Even if she had, it was obvious he needed more. Rather than take time to administer more, she threw up her hands and said that we would have to reschedule. I said, "So, basically you just put my son through laughing gas and novacaine for nothing. is that right?" Her reply was "Well, if you want to look at it that way, then yes." So, now we still need to get a filling and a crown but it sure as heck will not be with her. As a sidenote, my son has never had novacaine in his life. If what she said was true, then he should have had numbness or drooling or at least been playing with his lip or mouth. However, he did nothing of the sort. There was not any numbness. I will not be going back there nor would I ever recommend anyone take their child to see her.

Business Response:

Pediatric Dental Specialists care for difficult cases Parents are welcome in the treatment rooms for most procedures. That has been our policy since we opened in 1987, We deliver dental care that ranges from the well baby checkup level to restoring extremely decayed and infected teeth. Our patients other health and emotional issues considered when caring for their teeth. We often have parents come who have had negative dental experiences when they were children. This type of parent needs to talk to the pediatric dentist without the child in the room in advance of the treatment day in order to gain perspective of the treatment plan. Many times we "deliver the shot" and the child surprises the parent by being very calm. We usually are on the same page with the parent, but in this case.... posted by Martha Lambert, dental office manager
