Not worth the price  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

By Anonymous Opens in New Window

I had a my hair relaxed and trimmed at the 900 N. Michigan location. The service was very overpriced. I was told at checkout the trim alone was $80. That's a lot to take 1/8 inch off of my ends. I was told a cut and trim are the same price. Who does that? ( I should have sat back in the chair and asked for layers.) Needless to say after receiving my $160 bill I vowed to never have my hair done there again. It was nothing special.

My massage experience was fine. Nothing special, but nothing negative. Very standard, average spa treatment.

Worst customer service!  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

By Gina S.

The other day I received a manicure at Mario Tricoci (900 N Michigan). This lady was the rudest person I ever met! When I sat down she began filing my nails down without even asking me what shape I would like my nails, as she was too busy talking to her co-workers about her new haircut. When I interrupted her to let her know that I like my nails square shaped, she gave me a dirty look and went about doing what she wanted. She repeatedly said "why are you watching me?....don't you trust me?...look that way...look to the left...seriously, I don't want you watching me do your nails. I believe that if I pay for a service I can look in any direction I choose. The rudeness went on and on and when I complained at check-out no one could find a manager. I waited over 20 minutes and then realized that this isn't worth being upset anymore. I got a crappy manicure from Cruella De Vil and that's apparently their standard. I'll never go back.

really poor service, but great haircut  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

By Jolie F.

I cant tell you how great my hair stylist was-- she was on it! However, I have gone to her 2x now and have waited 1+ hours for her. Nobody ever seems to apologize or get my my scheduling right. I have even called their corporate and I cant even get a response! It is so frustrating, bc the stylist is really talented.

PROS: Great hair stylist with flair and good vision
CONS: VERY VERY POOR SERVICE AND LACK OF REGARD FOR YOUR TIME

BAD Customer Service  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

By Katy H. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,731

I went here with my mom and two sisters for a fun girls day...while the services were all great (we had the full day package--haircut, make up, massage, facial and lunch), the customer service was terrible!

When my sister got a facial (she's never gotten one before) the employee told her about some other services and my sister just kind of nodded, like "okay, thanks for telling me"....well the employee ended up giving my sister these services and then when we were checking out she charged her over $150 extra!! My sister did NOT want these services and so the mangager proceeded to bring the employee who did this out in to the lobby to talk with my sister--in front of all the other customers.

It basically came down to the employee yelling at my sister and my sister feeling very uncomfortable and embarrassed while the manager looked on--it was the most unprofessionall thing I've experienced.

I would NEVER go back and would NOT recommend it to anyone--go to the Four Seasons, Peninsula or anywhere else!!

Great Packages and fantastic service  4 Star Rating - Very good

By Jennifer R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,610

If you're looking for an affordable day spa with great service in the heart of downtown, look no further than Mario Tricoci. Their package prices are quite affordable (starting in the $130 range and working up to about $370). Their staff were quite helpful, courteous and pleasant. The only reason this got 4 stars instead of 5 is that during the make-up consultation, the facialist recommended products containing chamomile even after she was told I suffered from seasonal allergies (namely ragweed).

Lots of Services  4 Star Rating - Very good

By Katrina K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,679

I've always had a great experience at Mario Tricocci. They have lots of different services from hair care to massages to waxing. And I've always gotten good and prompt service. It is a bit more expensive, but worthwhile. The only downfall, is that it is a really big location, so you don't always get that personal feel to it.

PROS: Good service,
CONS:

Good, but pricey  4 Star Rating - Very good

By Pat B. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,251

When you feel like giving a great gift, this is definitely a solid option. The person receiving it will feel very special. They are professional and good at what they do, and they definitely know how to pamper you. I feel they are overpriced, but for this type of spa and salon, you have to expect it. I only would give as a gift because I feel it's not worth it to spend this kind of cash on myself.
