Pros: Nothing

I went to the MI Ave. location in May, and am still battling a Staph infection in my thumb. I have been through 5 rounds of oral antibiotics, 3 rounds of antibiotic shots, and just yesterday had a portion of the nail removed.

I have paid $150 in copays for office visits, $125 in ER copays, and over $200 in prescriptions. Plus the cost of the mani/pedi.

Oh, and I have fungus in everyone of my toes. DON'T GO TO THIS SALON, for the sake of your health.

I had a my hair relaxed and trimmed at the 900 N. Michigan location. The service was very overpriced. I was told at checkout the trim alone was $80. That's a lot to take 1/8 inch off of my ends. I was told a cut and trim are the same price. Who does that? ( I should have sat back in the chair and asked for layers.) Needless to say after receiving my $160 bill I vowed to never have my hair done there again. It was nothing special.

My massage experience was fine. Nothing special, but nothing negative. Very standard, average spa treatment.

I have had my hair colored blond for about 6 years at Mario Tricoci. Lately I have noticed breakage. A few months ago my hair was thick and beautiful. I just learned that Mario Tricoci switched their hair coloring brand. I am not going back becuse I feel that it is unfair that my stylist never told me about the change and the end result is damaging. I am glad that I am getting out before it gets too bad. Do't go blond at Mario Tricoci!

The other day I received a manicure at Mario Tricoci (900 N Michigan). This lady was the rudest person I ever met! When I sat down she began filing my nails down without even asking me what shape I would like my nails, as she was too busy talking to her co-workers about her new haircut. When I interrupted her to let her know that I like my nails square shaped, she gave me a dirty look and went about doing what she wanted. She repeatedly said "why are you watching me?....don't you trust me?...look that way...look to the left...seriously, I don't want you watching me do your nails. I believe that if I pay for a service I can look in any direction I choose. The rudeness went on and on and when I complained at check-out no one could find a manager. I waited over 20 minutes and then realized that this isn't worth being upset anymore. I got a crappy manicure from Cruella De Vil and that's apparently their standard. I'll never go back.

I cant tell you how great my hair stylist was-- she was on it! However, I have gone to her 2x now and have waited 1+ hours for her. Nobody ever seems to apologize or get my my scheduling right. I have even called their corporate and I cant even get a response! It is so frustrating, bc the stylist is really talented.

PROS: Great hair stylist with flair and good vision
CONS: VERY VERY POOR SERVICE AND LACK OF REGARD FOR YOUR TIME

I went here with my mom and two sisters for a fun girls day...while the services were all great (we had the full day package--haircut, make up, massage, facial and lunch), the customer service was terrible!

When my sister got a facial (she's never gotten one before) the employee told her about some other services and my sister just kind of nodded, like "okay, thanks for telling me"....well the employee ended up giving my sister these services and then when we were checking out she charged her over $150 extra!! My sister did NOT want these services and so the mangager proceeded to bring the employee who did this out in to the lobby to talk with my sister--in front of all the other customers.

It basically came down to the employee yelling at my sister and my sister feeling very uncomfortable and embarrassed while the manager looked on--it was the most unprofessionall thing I've experienced.

I would NEVER go back and would NOT recommend it to anyone--go to the Four Seasons, Peninsula or anywhere else!!

If you're looking for an affordable day spa with great service in the heart of downtown, look no further than Mario Tricoci. Their package prices are quite affordable (starting in the $130 range and working up to about $370). Their staff were quite helpful, courteous and pleasant. The only reason this got 4 stars instead of 5 is that during the make-up consultation, the facialist recommended products containing chamomile even after she was told I suffered from seasonal allergies (namely ragweed).

I went to one of the top colorist at the Schaumburg location and my hair looks like boring hell. I look like I got my highlights done at JC Penny or something. I asked for something different and cool and I got these lame as hell highlights with no personaltiy. I paid a lot of money to get cool hair and I look more like a fool.

I moved to chicago streeville area and decided to try out this salon that seemed to have a good reputation in the midwest. i thought i had found a salon that was moderate in price but did not forego quality. Its obvious that this salon is more of a supercuts feel than a salon. Although the cost for a cut and color was fair, i'd rather pay more for better service & quality. (*ie: my colorist stained my skin with black dye b/c he forgot to line my forehead with the dye protector/greese!) I love to find a good bargain, but this was just not worth it.

I've always had a great experience at Mario Tricocci. They have lots of different services from hair care to massages to waxing. And I've always gotten good and prompt service. It is a bit more expensive, but worthwhile. The only downfall, is that it is a really big location, so you don't always get that personal feel to it.

When you feel like giving a great gift, this is definitely a solid option. The person receiving it will feel very special. They are professional and good at what they do, and they definitely know how to pamper you. I feel they are overpriced, but for this type of spa and salon, you have to expect it. I only would give as a gift because I feel it's not worth it to spend this kind of cash on myself.

Save your money! It's moe like a factory, than a spa! I'll NEVER go back- after three appointments, I've figured out" the service is ok, atmosphere ok, way overpriced and untalented, right-out-of-school employees. A total strike out!

I've left Mario Triccoci a few times to try out salons my friends swear by, but I always come back. MT is a sure thing - I know my hair is going to look great when I leave. The people who work there really listen to you and deliver results. I almost always bring pictures because I think that really helps and I get haircuts and colors exactly like I wanted. I always feel beautiful when I leave - due to the color, the cut, and the service. The price can be high (compared to say - Great Clips), but it's a lot less than I've paid at other salons! And you can request to go with a lower priced hairstylist and still get a great cut for $40.

Mario Tricoci's is more of a factory than a Spa. If you want a relaxing time, do NOT go there. If you wante to be placed on an assembly line to get your services, then by all means, this is the place for you.

I have had my appointments booked wrong, (not due to changes or complications) at least 40% of the time I've been there. I finally gave up and foudn a Spa that I love, that is cheaper too! Mario's is a waste of money.

Time and time again I keep going back to bad service. The stylist are awful and rude, the atmosphere sucks, and there is way to much attitude. The worst part is they never take your opinion in account when getting something done. They always think they know what you want, and dont listen at all if you try to tell them. I have gone more than 15 times for different services. I wish I could give a better review, but they are just not worth it.

My experience at MT was less than favorable. My expectations were high based on MT's reputation and that I was going to be pampered with 4 treatments. The hostess was pleasant, but when the pedicurist would step away for 15 minutes with no warning and started having personal conversations with her co-workers, I knew I didn't have their full attention. The manicure and make-up application were fine, but the haircut was AWFUL and UNEVEN! I didn't care for the way she styled my hair but figured I could always fix that, but when I looked in a mirror later that day I realized how uneven my hair was. I had to go back the next morning to get it fixed. It's been 7 months and I'm still trying to grow-out her mistake!

It's like a fashion cafeteria! I had scheduled an appt. & came there early & there was NO ONE THERE & they still made me wait! Also, the lady who cut my hair totally butchered it & cut it the way that SHE liked it, not the way that I LIKED IT...they're simply horrible joyless people there.

If youre looking for color, they can work miracles here. But you have to decide if you're willing to put up with the attitude that comes with Mario. I like my colorist, but when I expressed concern with the blend of my lowlights on my last visit my colorist took a very snotty attitude with me. She said "if you want someone else to fix this I can arrange it". I told her I felt comfortable with her and loved the shade- it was just too chunky for me. To try to assure her I liked her work, I complimented her skills while she was correcting the color. I was floored when she grabbed a large section of my hair, pulled it taunt, stared me down in the mirror and said "I KNOW I'm a great colorist. I get paid well to do it". Enough said.

No way. Mario Tricoci is horrible as far as hair cutting goes. I made an appointment and when making it the 1st time I specificaly stated I needed someone who could handle long straight hair. I paid $75 for a hair cut that was horrible. It was not straight as request, it was not even as requested. Not even the bangs were straight. I had to go back home and my hair stylist had to take over 4 inches of my hair to make it straight again. My boyfriend when to a different Mario Tricoci and did not get the hair cut he had requested. If you want to come out with something you did not request yes perhaps that is the place to go but that place is not for me. My rating??? expensive and not worthed. I rate it a ZERO.

Good for massages but not for hair. Sister-in-law went to the one in Vernon Hills. The girl kept cutting her hair and new she cut the hair wrong but kept cutting! Then, when my sister-in-law asked her to fix it...the girl said she didn't have time and that she would need to reschedule the haircut!!!!! Needless to say, a mall beautician fixed the mess Mario's hairdress made. AND the reception area people are very rude.

I had a young stylist that had no concern for what I wanted. My hair ended up looking just like hers. I didn't like her hair color at all. Needless to say I waited for my colorist to return from vacation at Charles Ifergan and had her fix the disaster. Her name is Arlene and she always knows what will work best for your hair texture and style. I also have my hair cut at the same salon by "Joey" he is so amazing I always leave the salon feeling so beautiful. He gives me a cut that grows out well and I can maintain on my own to look the same as it did when I left the salon.

After being ignored by the receptionist I received the worst haircut of my life. A friend of mine got her hair colored there by the 'senior' colorist and it was about 10 different colors. It cost her $200 to repair the horror and she had to cut off about 3 inches because it was so damaged. Beware!

Mario Tricoci has no idea what customer service is. They pack 'em in and move 'em through. The styles are marginal at best, the staff is untrained in customer service and can be quite rude at times. Appointments are booked/confirmed via phone then disappear when you arrive.

I will never go back and tell everyone I know of that there are significantly better salons that do treat you like you are special and they appreciate your business.
