Trousseau is worth the money!

by Sarah Q.

I love this brassiere shop! I've never had a negative experience and I always find something that fits (I'm a size 10). Love it love it love it! Sure, maybe they're a little more expensive but aren't your girls worth it?!?!

Trousseau is overpriced

by Claire S.

We stopped into Trousseau while shopping for my wedding. Although the items are pretty, they are so overpriced. We saw some of the same items at Nordstroms and Isabella's for less. The owner was also pretty snotty and talking very loudly and rudely to her staff about sales and how small stores are failing. Well, of course they will fail in a down economy when the product is marked up 50% and the owner is rude if you are over a size 10. I refuse to spend my money here. Go to Isabella's instead, the owner realizes that real women aren't a size 2 with big fake boobs nor will she rip you off. Jeez....

Trousseau is the best place for high quality lingerie

by Jen G.

To get the right fit, there's not better place than Trousseau. The shop is staffed with experts who can give you an instant lift with the right bra. There's plenty of selection and beautiful bathing suits stocked by bra cup size as well. Overall, a pleasant and enjoyable shopping experience.

Trousseau

by Dana J.

Trousseau is a fabulous little boutique that offers high quality sexy lingerie. If you are looking for a classy gift for your spouse I would recommend Trousseau. They offer something for everyone. If you are looking for bridal wear or honeymoon attire they have a large selection for you.

The expert staff can educate you on the different types of bras available and which ones would best suit your body type. I bought the best bra I ever had. I wish I discovered Trousseau sooner!!!

Trousseau is a fantastic lingerie shop for women of every taste!

by Jenni P.

I always receive terrific service at Trousseau! The store is warm and inviting, the staff are attentive and friendly (and genuine), the selection is incredible - it's everything I always wanted at other shops but never got.

Each time I return, they look up previous purchases and make recommendations based on brands and fits that work best for me, which saves me time (and it's fun to see what they recommend). And they re-measure me to ensure I always get the perfect fit. And it's true, ladies: Wearing the right size bra makes you look slimmer and more fit (and helps you feel even more beautiful!).

Each time I leave Trousseau I have a full bag of goodies and a great feeling about my experience. I can't recommend the store highly enough! I'm a loyal customer. :)

P.S. Although they are more a little more expensive than some more commonly known shops (ahem, Victoria's Secret), they have terrific semi-annual sales and specials so I recommend signing up for their mailing/email list to get notifications. The last time I was there I actually bought MORE than I expected and paid less than I budgeted. How awesome is that?

great place to go...

by Jacklyn W.

I have been to trousseau on a few occasions and find the staff very knowledgeable and helpful. I can't walk into the store without finding something i MUST own.

As far as bra fittings go, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. The staff offers many recommendations as to size, style and how to adjust your bra for proper fit. I find it difficult for me to find my size anywhere and trousseau always stocks my size.

Victoria's Secret eat your heart out.

Really positive experience

by rosemary g.

I'm kind of surprised to see all the negative reviews because my friend and I had a really fun time getting fitted and trying on different bras at this place. The swimsuits they carry in my size aren't really my style; that's the only reason I'm giving four rather than five stars.

Gorgeous lingerie and an incredible selection of bathing suits too!

by Michelle S.

Thank goodness for Jennie! I stopped into the store to find a new bathing suit - I must have tried on 25 different suits and Jennie was patient and thoughtful as she brought me at least 20 of the 25 after seeing what I liked and didn't like. I ended up buying three suits (I just couldn't say no - and it was hard not to buy 6 - here's hoping there is a sale soon!) and a new bra too! Its too bad I don't have more cash on hand as I would be back in a heartbeat.

Terrible experience!

by L R.

Trousseau does has some lovely lingerie. But after only a few times of wearing one of the bras, I realized that one strap was already at the maximum tightness and was still falling off. The other strap still had several inches left to tighten. To me, this signaled that the bra was defective, and I took it into Trousseau to ask for a replacement. Remember, I only wore it a handful of times and it was 3 weeks after purchase. Yes, I know that their return policy is 14 days, but I think any store reasonably concerned with customer satisfaction should replace a defective item, especially since it had been such a short time since I bought it. I talked to two salespeople, tried on my bra and showed them my issue with it. They acknowledged that for the same tightness on both sides, one was strapped down much further than the other. They continued to inspect, reinspect, and stare at my bra over and over again. The salesperson finally took me to the register with the new bra in hand seeming like she would exchange it for me. After more hemming and hawing, she then told me that I originally purchased the bra on sale and that I would have to pay the difference! Then she said that I was mistakenly charged the wrong price and that she couldnt sell me the new bra for that same price. Their mistake at the register is (a) not my fault, and (b) completely irrelevant, since I wasnt purchasing another bra I was simply asking them to replace a defective one!! The salesperson said shed have to talk to the owner. The next day, she called me and again reiterated that I was charged an incorrect price (such a ridiculous thing to keep bringing up!), and that I should go get the bra strap altered by a tailor. Needless to say, this store has completely unreasonable customer service, and I will never go back. I spent $200 during my initial visit (the friend with me spent $500). For that kind of money, you would think they would care more about customer satisfaction.

omg! tottally happy!

by Jackie H.

I'm not sure what these other reviews are talking about.. but last Christmas my sis got me a gift cert. for here. I'm hard to fit so the thought was nice but I rolled my eyes: i mean a bra is a bra, right? HOLY NO! This place worked with me, taught me, shopped for me, sized me right... they made me so comfortable and helped me feel pampered. They even provided alternate suggestions for things that were out of my price range. I took my purchase home and although it was on the expensive end-it's already paid for itself. I wear it so much i had to go back and get 2 more (along with some other fun stuff!) Everyone I've brought here has had an amazing experience and walked out feeling happy and sexy.

Worst customer service ever: paid three months ago, still no bra

by Anonymous

I was thrilled to find a store that might have my hard-to-find size in stock. When they did not have the item I wanted in stock, they required full payment up front for an out-of-stock stock size and stock color in a stock item. That was nearly three months ago. I have left numerous phone messages and spoken to sales girls who promised that they would have the owner call me. Two weeks ago I went in in person to attempt to understand why they would not return my calls and why my item had not arrived yet. I was told that it wasn't their fault, it was the supplier's, and that they still didn't know when my November purchase might actually arrive. I told them I really didn't think it was appropriate to make me wait any longer, and to not return my calls- after all, I can order the same bra online for less and get free delivery- so three months lead time seems excessive. I was told that the owner would call me and give me a refund. I still have not heard from anyone from Trousseau and I have filed a complaint with the BBB. This is absolutely the worst customer expereince I have ever experienced in my life. Looking for european brands? Check out Wildflowers on Wells, where the owner will order anything for you with only a small refundable deposit!

Awful

by Jocelyn T.

Trousseau is NOT a high-end lingerie boutique! The sales staff is rude, and the lingerie is poorly made but overpriced! I was given a gift from this store, but it was the wrong size (even though the sales staff assured him that it would fit a size 8). They not only refused to give me a refund or store credit, but would not even let me exchange it for the correct size, which WAS in stock. There's a sure way to discourage repeat business.

Terrible customer service for over-priced lingerie!

by Anonymous

Despite it's hip decor, this place is a total rip off. The owner is very nasty and has no conception what customer service is. She also has a yappy little dog who is always driving customers crazy. The place promises it can fit anyone - WRONG!!! This place is NOT plus-siz friendly despite their claims and what's worse, if you're not under size 7, the looks and the attitude you get are very upsetting!!

It may seem pretty.

by Andrea L.

I will never shop here, eventhough the items are beautiful.
One reviewer indicated that this was a safe place. My purse was stolen here - I was an employee. I got fired for having my purse stollen and the owner blamed me for the incident happening. The owner did not give us a secure place to store our personal belongings and let customers try merchandise on in the restroom in the back office, as the store has only one fitting room.
I prefer going to Isabella's on Webster, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Anthropologie.

PROS: Beautiful merchandise.
CONS: Deceivingly safe and owner treats employees poorly.

Fit Experts

by ChiJen

For those who need an instant lift, Trosseau is it! Honestly, most of us walk around sporting the wrong bra size so why not get a bra fit and feel better. I went to Trousseau looking for new bras and they hooked me up with the best looking and most supporting bras I've ever worn. Yes, they are expensive, but worth every penny.

Pros: Best Bra Fit

Great Bra Buying Experience

by sturgesae

I have been inconsistently shopping at Trousseau for 4 years now. I had a great first experience getting a true bra fitting. But, after my wonderful first experience I found other staff to be less attentive and less pleasant on other visits.

Recently I have been very in need of some new bras and it felt my old one's weren't fitting as well. I decided to give Trousseau another try and went yesterday for the kick-off of their spring sale. I had an awesome sales consultant named Lauren who patiently, persistently and pleasantly helped me find a couple bras that fit really well! The owner Christy also helped me when I first entered the store.

While the prices are a bit high. Trousseau has great customer service that make me return to the store for great help to find what I need and offer quality product. I would highly recommend this store to anyone who is sick of uncomfortable undergarments that don't fit properly and is willing to spend a little more for good product.

Pros: Attentive & Knowledgeable Staff

Cons: Difficulty keeping sizes in stock

thank goodness for Jennie! I went in for one bathing suit and ended up with three, and had to figure out how to not buy six (the price had something to do with it!). Jennie was patient with me and was incredibly helpful. She paid attention to what I liked and didn't like - and my body language too. . and she brought me so many bathing suits that I would never have chosen for myself - and I ended up buying two of them - a white bikini with gold accents. . are you kidding me??? but its gorgeous and I don't look half bad. . .

Pros: Great selection of suits and lingerie

Cons: A bit pricey

Elegant and Beautiful Lingerie - Caring staff - Bra fittings

by gizzerd

I went to Trousseau to just look around. I thought it was going to be out of my price range. I'm not sure why people think it's so expensive. I have the most fabulous bra I have ever had. It took over an hour to get fitted and find this one - and it only cost $65. The sales associate was very talented at targeting the right bra for me. We tried about 10 different styles. I am grateful for the exceptional service because I have never had a bra fit as well as this one. I've always had trouble finding a bra size in 34-B. I'm so happy I found Trousseau, I plan on buying all my bras. My boyfriend also noticed my new bra. Saying It made me look great. He wants me to wear it whenever we go out now. The one bad experience I had was when I asked to go to the bathroom. She pointed me off in the direction. I went out the door where she had pointed and wham the door closed and I was outside! I had to walk around to the front again. Good thing I had my blouse on.

Pros: Customer Service - Selection - Quality

Cons: Parking - hard to find bathroom -

Wonderfully Personalized Service - Nice Selection

by SusieQstats

I felt at ease the moment that I walked into the shop. It has a great selection with personalized service. This is the nicest lingerie shop that I have been in! The garments are high quality with customized apparel. Most lingerie places such Victoria Secret, etc. are not comfortable but the items in this store have both comfort and style. The prices are high but, as they say you get what you pay for.

Pros: Vast Selection of Lingerie and Bathing Suits

Cons: Upscale shop comes with a higher price

Paying for Rude Service? No thanks!

by delgroove

The people who work here are 1) pretentious- hello, you are in the service industry- where do you get off being rude to people who pay your salary? 2) Rude 3) Not Helpful.

I couldn't believe this place was up for a "best of Chicago" column. The only award this place should win is "Best of Rude Service Lingerie Stores". They'd deserve to be on that list.

Management- you have a beautiful store. Fill it with people who are beautiful on the inside so that you could actually make a sale.

Pros: Beautiful lingerie....

Horrible owner experience

by lclauson

At first I thought that this store was a true Southport jem, the place was cute, the staff was extremely accommodating and made you feel comfortable... But then I experienced the owner in action. She had to be the most unprofessional woman I have ever met in my life. She was rude to customers (basically harassing a mother who had a child), even though she lets her mangy little dog use the store as its own personal restroom (there was dog waste on the store floor!) This woman was extremely unprofessional. Yelling and swearing at her staff in front of customers, which made both the workers and me very uncomfortable. There is a time and a place for reprimands, and it is not when you are about to make a rather large sale. If you are going to advertise your store as a higher end boutique, please clean up after your dog! The only people I feel bad for are those who are stuck in this toxic environment. I thought I would shop at Trousseau since it is closer to home, but I am going to stick to shopping at Isabella's.

Pros: Cute store, nice fitters

Cons: dog waste on floor, obnoxious owner/manager

Great service from Stephanie today. Planned to visit the store for months, and finally was in the area today. Lucky for me, it was during their semi-annual sale. I got $25 off on a $125 purchase of seamless bras. I found the bras very reasonable. I wear a 42G, so usually I can't even try on bras in stores - it's strictly mail-order. Stephanie had 6 or 7 styles in my size for me to try. The bras I chose were priced at only $42 and $48 each. I have spent $75 and more in the past, and not gotten the great fit or service I had today. Even when I've shopped at Marshall Fields, they had me in 44DD's, I think because that was the largest they had in stock. That is like 2 cups too small! I spent less than an hour in the store, and left with 4 bras, and they now have my measurements and I'm on their mailing list for future sales. I already briefed my husband on the place, so he'll probably go there to Christmas shop for me. Stephanie has my sizes on file, so it will be an easy task for him. I learned from today's experience of trying on several different styles that you really have to be in a store that has a wide assortment in your size, or you'll never get a good fit. Stephanie said it's like buying jeans - you could be 44E in one style and 42G in another style. I thought the owner's dog was very cute, and didn't bark or interfere with the sales process at all. I really recommend Trousseau, especially for big-busted ladies like myself. They also have lots of really cute se-xy nighties, pant-ies & things. And I'm sure they serve the average-sized lady just fine, too.

Pros: wide assortment in big-busted bra sizes

Cons: none - parking not as bad as others say, if you don't mind walking a few blocks

Use to love it, but sadly will never shop at Troussea again!

by gdl

I use to live in Chicago and shopped at Trousseau quite frequently. Recently I moved to Boston, got engaged and at my bachelorette party got lots of fun Trousseau gifts from my Chicago friends. Unfortunately, I got some duplicates and wrong sizes and when I called to check if I could send them in for exchanges the woman said, "no problem." However, my gift receipt was longer than 21 days so actually no, I couldn't make any exchanges. Too bad I got married and went on a honeymoon!!! What an awful policy!!! I could understand if I wanted a refund, but I just wanted to get some different sizes. What am I suppose to do with all this stuff now? I have already turned many of my Chicago friends against Trousseau. They are now going to Etre and other more reasonable boutiques!

Pros: Great merchandise!

Cons: Awful return/exchange policy!

Great gift suggestion for your husband or partner!

by jeanine_hawaii

The first time I shopped here (about 2 years ago), I had the most amazing customer service experience shopping for bras. However, just about 1 year ago, I was very disappointed with the staff. The woman that had originally helped me had obviously been promoted to manager and only came out occassionally. Stores like this are made or broken by the quality of their service so hopefully they'll work on that.

BUT for those who have partners that need help with gift giving, Trousseau will keep your measurements and past purchases on file for you. So when my husband went in to get me a gift, they helped him find something that fit perfectly and also that I loved.

Pros: Personal Account Info on File, Easy Parking, Gift Certificates

Cons: Customer Service Spotty

To clear up the first review...

by lakeviewlover2004

This store is great! the owner is sweet and her staff is kind. I went in there in my sweats after a walk and no one made me feel as if I didn't belong. You can not get their lingerie cheaper in wicker park/bucktown. I used to work at the pink boutique so I'm not really sure what you are talking about. If your looking for cheap duds then go somewhere else, because this place sells quality items. Keep up the good wok ladies....ignore the haters :)

Pros: great staff, beautiful store, nice lingerie

Cons: PARKING!!!

I dont understand why people are having such bad experiances with trousseau. I walked into the store and was greeted by there warm staff. These girls where so helpful. The items where a little bit higher priced but i would rather have qaulity items at a higher price than a bra that is going to fall apart in a matter of months. Thanks girls for all you help and a wonderful shopping experiance!

Great prices and service

by victoriamark

I just read the other reviews posted here. That was so-o-o-o not my experience. But I'm also not high-maintenance and I didn't walk into Trousseau with a dog (who really takes a dog into a store, a Paris Hilton wannabe?) I just like to treat myself to pretty things now and then. And I like when a bra really fits correctly and makes my clothes look even better. And I like that I can count on Christy and her staff to help me with their usual kindness and excellent customer service. A few items have big pricetags, but then, you should find some of these in every store. It's the spice of life. Item for item, Trousseau is as competitively priced as their competition (who probably wrote the snakiest-sounding review).

Pros: Top service, Top selection, Top sales staff

Cons: Southport parking

Trousseau is a big disappointment

by saavyshopper

This owner needs to learn a thing or two regarding good customer service and then invest in some training for the staff. I have lived in the Southport Cooridor for over six years now and have never been treated as poorly as I was by the owner of this shop on Friday.

PS- Out of courtesy to your customers consider putting a leash on your dog or leave it home.
