Drake Hotel

How can I describe my stay at the Drake Hotel. It's an older well established hotel. Mahogany every where, huge chandliers sparkling, huge floral arrangement in the center of the lobby, big comfy chairs in the lobby to relax if you don't want to go immediately to check in and just want to catch your breath. This is a spectacular place - a once in a lifetime treat.

It's very pricey, but the service makes up for that. Even if only for a day or two, what's a couple or three hundred dollars, you only live once. Where else can you flip channels on the TV and shop from the stores located within the Drake?Room service is like no other. I was traveling and had a canx in my flight. If I had to be stuck in Chicago I decided to treat myself like royalty. A friend had stayed here years ago and this past winter was now my turn. Being tired I used room service - fast, prices not really any more then other places, food was fresh and wonderful. So if you ever get stuck with a canx flight, go find the nearest cab/taxi and tell them "The Drake, please" ... it's worth the cost of the taxi ride from the airport and worth the experience.

Harp music. Comfortable chairs and tables. A magnificent tea tray, layered with sandwiches, scones and pastries. The endless pot of superb tea. Gosh this is nice.

PROS: Just great.
CONS: No.

What a perfect place for a wedding. Have been to two at this classic old hotel. Nice rooms and great location, but you will pay a boatload of moolah for the privilege. Nice shopping is right there on Michigan and just west on Oak.
