I just got back from another visit with Gayle and she does a tremendous job every time (each time I ask for a different cut) She is very skilled and professional all while making you feel at home. Always accomodating and friendly, I have yet to be disapointed with her service - she is terrific at what she does.

i have been going to gayles getaway before it was ever gayles getaway. I have never had better service in my life and have gone to many other salons. I've always gotten what i've wanted and never hd to ask for it. They are so talented over there anf super friendly. As for their waxing abilities, they are the only salon i will ever allow to wax me!!! The wax they use is from Victory beauty supply and NOT sallys. They have always been professional and i've never had a complaint. Out of all the salons in the bloomington normal area, I think they are the best. not ony with customer service and satisfacion, but technique. I will continue to go to gayles getaway as i feel amazing when i leave.

I had a Brazillian wax done here. There were pieces of skin missing when it was "finished" and she sent me home with literally a ball of wax between my legs telling me to wash it off at home and shave the remainder off in the shower. I get waxed because I DON'T shave! Any experienced esthetician will tell you that shaving undoes everything you have been working toward during your waxing sessions and it will make the next session as painful as your first (waxing gets easier with each session). The people were friendly, but seriously, I wonder if they have any licensed estheticians on staff. I understand a wax can be painful at times as I get them done regularly every two to three weeks. During this wax there were parts, that don't hurt at all when I had it done by another, that were excruciatingly painful at Gayle's Getaway and with no reward. This was by far, the most unnecessarily painful experience I've ever had. I went home in tears with an unfinished wax and missing chunks of skin. There is supposed to be slight irritation directly after a wax not missing skin, "wax hickeys" (from putting it on too thick), and post traumatic stress syndrome. She missed the hair she did wax, and just broke the hair off instead of removing it. The wax they use there is not salon quality wax and can be bought by any unlicensed person at Sally Beauty supply who wants to make an extra buck. I know this for a fact, because I use the same brand under my arms to save money. It is a quality wax for small do-it-yourself jobs such as the underarms, upper lip, and eyebrows. But I would never use this wax for a Brazillian! It is the best quality wax one can buy without a license. That should tell you something right there, and I could have saved myself a lot of grief if I'd paid closer attention to this upon arrival. On a "happy" note, she took five dollars off. ha

She is licensed, experienced, professional, and makes you feel very comfortable. I understand a wax can be painful at times as I get them done regularly every two to three weeks. i went to gayles getaway last week for the very first time, cause a couple of my friends have told me about them. what i was getting done was color, highlights, cut, and a pedicure. lets just say that when i walked in i felt very welcome, kinda like i was at home. My stylist called me over to her station and had a consultation with me about what to do with my hair. well lets say that i had no clue what i was wanting to do with my hair. well she was very knowledgeable with what she was doing. we had look at some books and i still had no clue what i was going to do. so i decided to just let her do what ever she wanted with out no limitations. so that is what she did.i got to go back with her to the color bar and talk about the color that she was mixing up. which was cool i have never got to be involved like that before.then after she got done mixing everything that she needed, then we went back to her station where she began to work her magic. while she was working we were having a great time talking.i felt like i was one of her friends. when she was done putting in all the things into my hair i sat there and read a magazine and just relaxed. then we washed my hair which was one of the best shampoos that i have ever had ever. they well you will have to just go and check it out..lol..then she cut my hair and styled it out.when it was all done i didn't even recognize my self. i was look good. i never thought that i could pull a look of like that, and that is just what she gave me. then the next week i had so many people stop me, saying where did you get your hair done, and of course i told them. so to make a long story short. The best salon that i have ever been to ever.so just go check them out. you wont regret it, i promise. The girl that was my stylist was melissa

If you are wanting to have a extreme make over with your hair and nails this is the place to go. i have been to alot of salons here in town, and i have never had the kind of experience like i have gotten from them. When you walk in you feel like that you are at home. The girls they know what they are doing. when i go in i let them do what ever they want cause that is how much i trust them. they are very afforadable with there prices. you can either make a appointment or you can just walk in. I take my family there. They are very good with children. so i think that everyone should at least check them out at least once. and you will never go anywhere else after you meet them. They are like family to me.

Pros: never will have a problem finding a parking spot, great location, great staff
