Two years ago one of my cats was extremely sick. She wasn't eating and appeared to have difficulty breathing. I took her to State Street Animal Hospital. The initial visit cost over $850. Even though I okay'd an x-ray, I didn't authorize the additional views that were taken, but considering I was hoping something could be done to help our little one, I let it go. She had fluid in her chest cavity, and absolutely no food in her digestive tract. After two more weeks of giving her water pills and force feeding her, there was no improvement. We decided to put her out of her misery. For her euthanasia we were charged $42 for the office visit, $78 to sedate her, $135 for the euthanasia itself, $68 for the Doctor supervision (he administered everything), $135 for the communal cremation, and $48.50 for cremation handling fee. It had been probably 10 - 15 years since I had a cat euthanized. It had cost around $70 at a vet north of town back then. I figured maybe laws had changed causing such a drastic change in the cost of a euthanasia for a cat that was less than 5 pounds and already at death's door. I let it go, but I did not return with any of our other pets. Even though he is a compassionate doctor, I did not want to pay for his high end office decor. There are other vets in the area that are just as compassionate and reasonably priced. \n\nA couple years have gone by, and unfortunately we had to recently have the sister kitty euthanized. We had been taking her to a vet within 5 miles of State Street Animal Hospital. Her entire bill for the euthanasia and group cremation (at the same facility as the first cat) was $83.50. That's a difference of $423! I cannot come up with anything that can justify the outrageous difference in prices other than to line his pockets. I have never in my life felt so taken advantage of, especially in a time of grief. I would never recommend State Street Animal Hospital. If I could give it a zero, I would.

This guy is a Bum! I had a sick dog that he did not diagnosis in four office visits. The last one he charged me $513.50 two days before the dog died. This was on top of already paying about $1200 for the first 3 office visits. The worst part was my kid had to find a dead pet that suffered. Add that to the $350 to have the dog cremated, no wonder he takes a lot of vacations. Save your money shop around.\r\n

I first want to say that in no way am I upset with the care my animals received from Dr Florian. In fact, my animals received great care by Dr Florian. Having said that...he charged me $718.00 to euthanize a 19 year old, dying, 5 pound cat. I have been trying to get some money back (price match with surrounding offices), but he is unwilling to do so. So....if you have nothing better to do with your money, go here!

Dr. Florian is the best vet around. My wife and I have had many animals over the years and have tried several different vets and have been disappointed by the lack of personal attention. The larger animal hospitals tend to treat your pet as just another patient, nothing special. Dr. Florian gives your pet the attention they should have. He is also extremely knowledgeable but also consults other vets/specialists for the best treatments. We recently had to put our elderly cat to sleep and Dr. Florian came to our house to perform this. It was a very difficult task for us but it was somewhat more comforting to know that our Nick was comfortable and in his own house to the end and did not have to go the vets office since he was never happy going there. Dr. Florian even stayed with us for over an hour after Nick was gone to talk to us and make sure we were OK; he really cared!! It is true that you will pay a little bit more going to Dr. Florian but aren't your pets worth the best around?

Pros: Fantastic service; personal attention

Cons: Slightly higher priced than other vets; prescription costs high but you can go through the internet

Dr. Florian is by far the best vet I have ever been to and being raised with animals means I've seen a lot of them. He obviously loves the animals and does everything he can to make them comfortable. I agree that he is more money than the average bear but I believe he is worth it. \r\nMy only issue is that the little extra money you pay for the office visits also makes boarding a bit more expensive.

Well we found it here. Dr. Florian is by far one of the most involved Dr.'s we have meet. He goes above and beyond for his patients. My dog Murphy had to have over night care/supervision at a hospital and instead of shipping us off to the emergency clinic, (we had a very bad experience at one in the past and did not feel comfortable doing it again) Dr. Florian offered to stayed there all night with our Murphy who got into some tylenol (very serious). The Dr. did this for 3 nights, and called us constantly giving us updates and easing our minds. Even though he is a little higher in price , it is well worth it. The saying goes, 'you get what you pay for"" is soo true. And as someone else on here metioned about having to wait to be seen.....It is worth it because he is only a 1 doctor show who gives it his all and you get to see the same Dr. every time, and not get shuffled around to who ever is open. One of our favorites and highly recommended.

Pros: Great Staff, Clean Office, and the cutiest office cats of all Smokey and Clover

Cons: Dr. Todd will explain everything in great detail, not a bad thing in my eyes

I gotta tell ya- this Doctor in fact does have a very nice office, has nice equiptment, and the facility is one of the best out there. He is very friendly and comprehensive as the other reviewer mentioned and I do appreicate the calls from his office to check on my pet when something is wrong. But there is no way I can justify the cost for taking my pet to his animal hosptial. No way. And let me tell you- no one loves my pet more than me. My pet has become not only a part of my family but such a huge and important part in my life. So I want the very, very best care out there for my pet. But it's a complete rip off. I mean, you're literally being taken by this vet on costs. It's insane! The perscriptions are at least 60-70% more than what I've paid at other facilities in the area. He will charge you a office visit fee AND a doctor evaluation fee. On top of the costs for tests, prescriptions, and more. It's almost like you're being ripped off in style. On top of that, you will , I promise you be in that office for over 40 minutes before he gets to you. So plan on spening time there...even for just a simple check up and for some shots. It's a shame, I hope he gets it together soon because it's a great facility, he seems like a nice vet- but the costs and time is just insane. If it was my child..I'd look some place else. Sorry.

Pros: Nice place, very clean, great location, and professional

Cons: Out of control expensive, and takes far too much time for an appointment

Dr. F. is far more caring and comprehensive than any other area vet. Although the cost may seem a little high at first, Dr. F. is the most thorough vet out there, providing complete care for my pets. He checks up on my pets following any visit or procedure with a phone call, and is accessible and responsive to my needs. The facilities are warm and homey. The equipment is state of the art. The truth is, you really do get what you pay for. I don't hesitate to provide my pets with the best care out there.
