I'm 64 years old and on Social Security. I've always wanted to get a custom fit and the last time I was at this store (a couple years ago) the crowd was unbelievable so I decided since it was a weekday and I had some time I'd try it

I'm a stay at home mom with six kids. Needless to say this means that my body shape is, shall we say challenging, my free time is limited, so I need to get the right bra the first time! After six pregnancy and now on my sixth nursing

I would like to talk about my experience with Tina's Closet, in Lisle, Illinois. I went to Tina's Closet because I heard from a friend that Tina will help you find the right bra for you and help you find what works and what doesn't work with your body type. I was so used to guessing and buying poor fitting bras, so I thought to give Tina's Closet a try. After purchasing two great bras, I am happy to say I finally found bras that work for me. Tina is not the typical saleswoman you would see in the mall or wherever else. Her goal isn't to just sell you a bra and make money. Instead, she thrives off of helping people and making sure her customers feel happy and comfortable. She is really a creative, understanding, and a sincere business owner because she took the time to listen to what I want in a bra and brought me bras based upon that. If I didn't like how a bra felt, she would explain why the uncomfortable feeling occurred. She really has perfected the art of fitting bras to each woman's body. After trying on different sizes and styles, I selected two bras. After wearing one of the bras for a few days, I felt uncomfortable. I returned to the store with a complaint and I was worried the bra couldn't be fixed. I was wrong because Tina solved my bra woe. I told her the bra was too wide for me, so she asked me to give to her her and while I was there, she sewed the cups closer together, creating what I wanted. I was happy she attended to my needs like that. But still, the straps didn't feel quite right. Tina asked me to leave the bra with her and to come back the next day to try it on again. The next day, I returned and tried on the bra, and yes, it was so much more comfortable. I asked Tina how she did it and she told me she put felt material along one of the straps to make it more comfortable. That really surprised me and I thought to myself "Wow, now this lady really thinks outside the box." She came up with such a creative idea to make my bra better for me. She was so happy to have solved all my bra issues and I could tell by the joy I saw on her face that this business means so much to her. I am very pleased to have went here to Tina's Closet!

I've been going to Tina's closet for 10 years and I have to tell you what keeps me going back....
Tina is awesome!!! Before I went to Tina I was disgusted with my body. I could never find a bra that fit...they were either too big

I wanted so badly to find a bra that was comfortable and fit me properly, particularly because I recently had breast cancer.

I admit - I was probably not wearing the correct size but I was shocked to be told that I was a 30D when I had been wearing 34 A-B. I bought three bras ($28 each) and left them to be altered. The first day that I wore one I could barely think about anything but my discomfort. I called Tina's the next morning and they said to come on over. Tina came in and asked if I was about to get my period, that I looked a little puffy. I explained that I was expecting my period, but that because of the cancer medication that my cycles are a bit off. She said that they probably had taken the bras in too much and replaced all three with 32Ds. She told me to wait until I got my period, wear the bras a few weeks, and then bring them back to be taken in.

That was a Saturday - by the next Thursday I had had it! I went back after work and explained that not only did I have red marks all around but that the fabric was irritating my skin. Tina again asked if I was getting my period - I still had not had it. She kept saying over and over how puffy I was and that she couldn't believe how differently the bra fit me than just five days before - I'm 5'3" and 110 pounds! How different could it have been??? Another issue - the wire underneath my left breast was sticking out - no where near my body. Tina told me it's because I'm bigger on the left side - well, I'm not, but she insisted that I am and that there was nothing that could be done to change the fit.

The worst part of my experience was having Tina call another employee back to see how the bra fit, "you are not going to believe how different the bra fits her!" Then both of them proceeded to tell me that I needed to stop taking my cancer medication, see an endocrinologist immediately, read Suzanne Sommers book (because she cured herself of breast cancer), and this went on and on and on. Apparently Tina is writing a book on women's health issues - she definitely did not have a problem telling me what I'm doing wrong.

She gave me an extender for the bras and told me to hang in there - that I will just have days that I need to use the extender. I got out of there as fast as I could.

I went to Kohl's the next morning and found a bra called Barely There. I doubt very much that I will ever wear any of the bras that I got at Tina's Closet.

I've had the pleasure of shopping at Tina's Closet for at 13 years. It started out with the intention of "treating" myself to a nice professionally fitted bra... turned out that Tina took the time to listen to my medical problems involving breast tenderness issues and breast pain, and my doctor's interpretation of my annual mamograms were that I had cystic breasts and probably had a higher risk of developing breast cancer, and that I had to live with the pain...he couldn't help me... Tina was the one who immediately diagnosed me with wearing a 34B on a 36D body frame.....At first, I didn't want to believe her..I thought that the size she put me into was to flat..and totally weird for me....She insisted that I try it for a week and let her know if I still had any pain.....Remarkably, my pain went away and has not returned since!!!!! And, I was
amazed at how comfortable my new bra size felt...., This woman really knows her stuff! She did something for me that no doctor could.... She listened to me.....and helped me with my problem.... and encouraged me to find a doctor was more
responsive...I did. It's been many many years, Tina...and I wanted to thank you!!!!!! thank you for caring enough!!!!
Your Wacoal bras are the best!!!!!!

I went into this shop to buy a strapless shaper bra for a wedding I'm in. After a short wait while I looked at the exact bra I wanted I was approached by a woman with an apron. She asked of I had been fitted before, to hich I answered not, I just wanted to try on these bras for a bridesmaid dress. The woman was very rude and informed me that I would need the dress in the store before they even measures me. I asked if I could just try them on and she said that she needed to talk to he manager. She called the manager over and the manager told me the same thing, I couldn't even try on the bras without the dress. I live an hour away and they have limited hours so needless to say I left and will NEVER come back because the salesladies were rude and not very helpful. You are better off buying from amazon and returning what doesn't work or going to a different store.

I went in here with a friend who purchases all her bras here...They are VERY pricey. I was fitted for an "odd" size but for a fee my bras could be "customized". Funny this is the same deal my friend has- she has an "odd" size. So when we were out of town we went to another store and got fitted...and we actually fit into a bra that is a normal size- did not need to be custom fitted. After speaking with others I find this is a practice regularly employed by Tonas Closet- MANY women are told they are an "odd" size and need a bra that has to be customized to fit them. Pretty good scam she has going. I would NEVER go back.

NEVER USE THIS STORE!!! I puchased an $80 bra that was specially fitted to me by Tina herself. After 2 days of wearing, the bra "broke" in that the underwire poked through. When I went back, I was told all sales were final and that I must be doing something wrong - wether putting it on incorrectly or because my breast size changed. They "fixed" the bra and sent me on my way. 10 days later, the problem occurred again. I was told that I was the problem and that the bra could not be replaced. Both Tina and her sidekick, Teri were very rude, know it all and totally unhelpful. I would not recommend this store to my worst enemy.

I walked into Tina's and was immediately handed a sheet of paper to read and sign. The sheet stated that if I went through a fitting and didn't purchase anything, I would owe the store $25. I handed this back to them and told them I would not sign. I was told that I didn't have to sign the sheet. I complained that never have I walked into a retail lingerie store or for that matter any retail store and was asked to sign such an a agreement. I then explained that I was referred to them by my plastic surgeon for a prosthesis. Within a short period of time the store owner introduced herself to me and took me to a fitting room only separated from the other fitting room by curtains and located so that others who were in the store could hear what went on between us. It's just lucky that I am seventeen years post mastectomy and not as sensitive as I was initially. She brought in one or two forms that just didn't look right to me. When I told her this, she started to just bring in whatever. It was obvious that all she wanted was to make the sale. Previous to this, I had always gone to Nordstroms and had been very happy, but I thought I would give a smaller business a try. When I told her, I didn't think the forms fit properly, she was extremely rude. I actually could have bought a couple of bras but because of her attitude I wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. I must say I'm happy I had that experience; today a friend who just had a mastectomy asked me for a referral for a store that sells bra forms and I was able to tell her to avoid Tina's Closet.

I drove over an hour to get to her shop, I was not impressed with the shop or the service I received. I was so excited to finally find someplace that could fit a bra for me but after purchasing them and wearing them, they are to tight and the bra straps always fall down. They were also rude to me asking if I was trying to lose weight and if not maybe I should so my cup size would fit my "body frame"I would not suggest this place to anyone.

Hopelessly, my daughter and I tried to find a bra that worked for her tiny frame, yet sizeable breasts -- we tried every store -- and, much to our disappointment, nothing worked. That is, until the day my daughter walked into Tinas Closet [Tina was recommended by a fellow student].

Tina whisked her efficiently into one of her Fitting Rooms, and began the work of engineering what became a Perfect Fit. Much to the delight of my daughter, Tina altered a bra to fit her unique frame [26 DDD] while she waited excitedly.

The bra was inexpensive -- the alterations were ridiculously affordable [$4] -- however, the look on the face of my daughter was PRICELESS!

My daughter got a renewed sense of confidence and I no longer had to pay for useless bras that bulge out of her lingerie drawer never to be worn. She has enjoyed every minute of wearing her bras ever since. My daughter can stand up tall now, instead of constantly being hunched over with aching shoulders and neck pains!

Thank You Tina!! You have saved us thousands of dollars in disposable bras and the expense of a weekly visit to the Chiropractor!

Pros: Perfect Fit, Reasonable Prices, While-You-Wait Service, REAL EXPERTISE!!

Cons: Patience is a must...so is courtesy to Tina and Staff, since they really put up with a lot of hormones, breasts and distressed women!

Carol?s story has grown out of proportion since she left the store. Like any new customer, when Carol walked in, she filled out a New Customer Profile, with a note that reads:

ATTENTION: a $25 professional bra-fitting fee will be charged for us to size you. However, if you purchase a bra today, then this fee is waived. These fees are for those who are not purchasing a bra today. Thank you for your cooperation.
Carol signed the form, and told a staff member that her mother-in-law was on a restricted budget. Tina?s Closet Staff politely explained the policy and the range of prices [$25 and up]. She was also assured that Tina always works hard to find something within her customers? budget.
When Carol was called to the Fitting Room, Carol proceeded to insist that her mother-in-law be measured, but she did not wish to purchase a bra. To this, Carol was told ?No problem? however, without a purchase, a $25.00 Fitting Fee would apply, to which she strenuously objected, adding that anyone could just ?throw a tape measure around her? [mother-in-law].
Carol was patiently told that a Professional Corsetiere cannot simply throw a tape measure around someone and determine their size ? any professional would be negligent to promise otherwise.
Carol got mad, angrily tore up the sheet and left. At that point, the next customer was called, since they had also waited patiently for their turn.

Note: this $25 Fitting Fee was a policy that regrettably had to be instituted because customers, like Carol, would go into the store looking for ?free services.? These individuals take time away from other customers who are also waiting to receive professional services, leaving the staff exhausted and the fitting rooms in disarray.

These individuals take time away from other customers who are also waiting to receive professional services, leaving the staff exhausted and the fitting rooms in disarray.

Pros: A Perfect Fit is given to any individual who is willing to accept Professional Expertise

Cons: Women must allocate time and bring their patience when they plan a visit

I am shocked that a woman would walk into any Retail establishment in the year 2008 and ask for free service! I am positive that NO other store, including Lane Bryant, would be willing to provide service for free. Obviously, there was a reason why this customer waited for such a long time -- Tina is very busy AND very much in demand. Over the five [5] years that I have been a loyal customer, I have watched hundreds of women wait for Tina's no-nonsense, high-quality service -- sometimes for hours -- and they come from South Africa, Pakistan, Australia, Europe, China and all over the United States, Mexico and Canada to get unparalled Professional Corsetiere services. If the customer's mother-in-law didn't have the means with which to purchase a bra from Tina, then why expect Tina to waste the time she should devote to other customers on someone who was not serious about receiving her services? Tina doesn't set the prices -- the prices listed on the bras are Manufacturer suggested retail prices and are pre-printed on the tags. And there is no professional fitting fee if the customer wants to puchase a bra. One properly fitted bra equals the price of [1] one week of morning coffee, or several packs of cigarettes -- or a couple weeks of refraining from the drive-up menu at McDonalds. Don't ask someone else to take responsibility for your necessities -- make room in your own budget!

Pros: Exceptional Service Consistently Delivered with a No-Nonsense Professional Attitude

Cons: You have to make time and listen to what the 'Bra Doctor' says!

I wish I would have saved my time and read this user's review first! It would have saved me so much time! Tina was the most insulting and unprofessional person I have ever had the unfortunate chance of meeting.

Her employees said "Just talk to her, she understands". Yeah, right. Just try to talk to her. You have a better chance of talking to a brick wall.

My future mother-in-law and I went to the shop last Saturday. We were not informed that there was a fee for a bra fitting until we got there. I wanted to be fitted, and was ready to plunk down some serious $$ for my bra. My mother-in-law is on a fixed income, so she just wanted to be fitted. If we could find something in her bargain bin, then she would buy, but otherwise she would pass.

Tina wouldn't even give us the courtesy to explain this. She said "Are you serious about buying a bra or not? I have other people waiting!" Why else would I drive an hour to get there and sit for another hour and a half if I wasn't serious.

She even berated her own employee - "Don't try to bargain with my business!"

If I can influence just one person to rethink their visit, I will be doing them a service.

I went into Tina's Closet after a referral from Lane Bryant. I checked their website, which said nothing about being charged for fittings. Took 1 hour to drive there, and then waited another 1 1/2 hours to be seen.

I told the associate who greated me my situation-I wanted to buy a bra, but only wanted my future mother-in-law measured. She referred me to one of the seamstresses. The seamstress said: "Talk to Tina, she's very understanding. She's polish, so she knows how to make money stretch."

I was ready to put down some serious $$ on a bra for myself, but my mother-in-law is on a fixed income, couldn't afford her bras. Was called up by Tina, who didn't want to hear a word I said. I was insulted beyond belief by Tina, who said: "Are you serious about buying a bra, or not?" Now, if I wasn't serious, do you think I would have sat there that long?

She also berated her employee, saying: "Don't make deals in my store."

I guess it was too much to ask, to throw a tape around my mother-in-law, under my ticket. Oh well. She lost a customer. Maybe she can afford to be without my money, even in this bad economy.

I have been going to Tina's closet for years and I must say, I will never shop any where else for Bra's!!! I went to a chain undergarment store prior to finding Tina and they took my measurements and sold me a Bra 10 inches too big just to get the sale!!!! After I had so many problems with my bra practically falling off of me, I finally found Tina. Because I have a small frame and have a larger cup size, Tina is able to make adjustments to the Bra's that I like so they fit me perfectly!! I also trust Tina. She is so honest and she has a big heart! She will not sell something to someone if it is not right for their body. That to me speaks volumes! It means she actually cares how you look and feel. Because of Tina, I have gained confidence and self esteem. I no longer wear clothes 3x my size to hide myself. Thanks Tina!!!

My mother recently visited Tina's closet in search for a bra to wear under a formal gown for her daughter's wedding. The entire experience was beyond innappropriate. Tina was extremely rude and insensitive. My mother has been battling a weight problem almost her entire life, and Tina took advantage of that and ripped her confidence to shreads. She tried to make my mother fit into bras that were uncomfortably small, and then continued to cut her down.

I have not met Tina, but I cant imagine she is Miss America. If you're in the line of business to help people with a personal undergarment....have some compassion and respect for your customers.

Tina, I want you to know that my mother cried for two days after leaving your shop. Thank you for your kindness during the last few days of her life, as she died accidently and never made it to her daughters wedding.

I found Tina when I was breast-feeding my first child and needed a nursing bra for a large figure. She made me one by altering a standard bra in a larger- than -usually- sold- in -a- store bra.I now live in Minneapolis, and depend on Tina for bras. I have found no one else in the US where I can find bras that actually fit me! So, I depend on Tina. I visit yearly, and she keeps my information on file so that I can order over the phone. She has other boutique items that are very nice. Her prices are reasonable, but even if they weren't, I would go there just knowing I would be fit into a proper garment!

I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. I've been going to Tina's Closet for about 10 years now and I've never been treated rudely. I've been through the bra for my wedding gown, nursing bras, tank tops and bathing suits and I've never been treated badly. In fact I think all of the people that work there are extremely nice and friendly. Ever since I was introduced to them I've been going back and refuse to purchase a bra or bathing suit for that matter anywhere else. I've sent alot of other people there as well and they never have had any complaints. The only thing is that they are a bit pricey for some things. However if you are on a budget such as myself let them know and they'll work within it. Basically, I would highly recommend (and do) Tina's Closet to everyone I know.

Recently went to Tina's Closet to be measured for a bra to wear during pregnancy. THey measured me improperly putting me in a cup size 3 times bigger then I wear. THe selection was all grandma matronly bras that were ugly and unflattering. The staff was pushy and extremely rude. They acted very put off when I did not buy either of the two hideous bras they showed me!! This is not a good place for anyone under the age of 85 to go to buy a bra!!!

This is a pretty nice boutique. I like the accessories here more than the clothes. If you go during the holiday season, you will for sure get some great deals.

TIna's Closet is a great boutique for women. They have been known for years as having every kind of bra imaginable and being able to fit absolutely anyone. One of the great services is being fitted for the right bra while you are there. 90% of the time everyone is wearing the wrong size bra so they can tell you what is the correct size for you. They also have other items like nice bathing suits, clothes, and jewelry. When I got married we ordered all of your bridesmaid's jewelry through them and were quite happy. It's a great store.

PROS: Great bras!
