I have no problems with Burkardt's. I leave a check, they leave the gas. Even let me do a payment this pay day and post date one for next pay day. Not all people pay for their gas and stick them with a bill. Now adays you have to keep up

Burkhardt's has the absolute rudest and worst customer service I have ever experienced!!! We have been customers for over 20 years and had our parents switch their propane to Burkhardts over 20 years ago. We have ALWAYS been timely on

Beverly Burkhardt at Burkhardt's LP Gas was the worst I have every had with a so-called customer service rep. She was snippy,..and many other things that she said to me on the telephone were not nice) Their company let our LP tank run out

I have had a propane tank from Burkardt's Lp Gas for about two years now (I purchased a trailer house in a campground a few years ago). When I did, I got in touch with Burkardt's to ensure continued service. Since I did not use the trailer on a constant basis (summers only), I wanted them to be aware of it. We worked out a pretty good deal - I put my annual rental down on my bank account for automatic renewal, and all bills would go to my caretaker (I'm military so I have a local caretaker watch the place when I'm away).

Thought things were going well, until my Father contacts me - Burkardt's contacted him for some reason and told him they took my tank since I hadn't purchased gas for it for over four years (first two - previous owners I suppose). I called them and asked why, since I have dutifully paid rent (and have the receipts to prove it) and I'm simply not using a lot of gas when I'm at the trailer (silly me, sometimes I like to cook in a fire...). The lady on the other end of the phone (Heather, I believe) nearly didn't let me talk. She immediately started berating me for non use and told me simply that it was a "done deal" and they sent me a check for the gas that was in the tank. They apparently don't like to do business with people who don't purchase 100 gallons of gas a year.

While I can appreciate their wish to have their product purchased, they could have easily done this differently. For example, they could have stated this up front - they made no mention of it (and until a few minutes ago, I never heard of it - what happened to my not using it last year?). They also could have contacted me instead of my Father, and they could have done so prior to simply removing the tank.

I am a reasonable individual - if I was contacted and told they wanted to disconnect me because I wasn't buying their gas enough, I likely would have offered to purchase the tank outright and then come to them whenever it needed filling. However, I never had that chance - they simply cut me loose and then berated me on the phone when I was caught unawares.

This isn't any sort of positive customer service and it's a poor business practice. They need to get off the defensive when a simple question is asked and they need to contact their customers (especially ones who have been paying rent!) prior to doing anyhing rash.

I have dealt with LP Gas vendors for 40 yrs and my service with Beverly Burkhardt at Burkhardt's LP Gas was the worst I have every had with a so-called customer service rep. She was snippy, (would not tell me to whom I was speaking until the 3rd time I asked....and many other things that she said to me on the telephone were not nice) Their company let our LP tank run out of fuel in the middle of Jan. after she assured me they would monitor consumption. When I tried to discuss the seriousness of that mistake, she got extremely defnsive. Her big concern was getting paid for the gas.

Cons: Too big to any longer care if you get good service from them
