I use to go here every couple of weeks when I lived in Chicago. The food is delicious. I have never been disappointed with any meal that I have. Most of them are two meals in one which is great so I'll have lunch the next day.

Francesca's is absolutely wonderful! I have never had a meal there that I didn't enjoy. While their menu does change, I believe monthly, there are some things I would definitely suggest ordering. The bruschette, roasted half chicken entree, and any of their homemade pastas are simply delicious. You can never go wrong! The atmosphere is contemporary, yet elegant and they are great at accommodating large group reservations. I would highly recommend coming the Chicago's Little Italy and enjoying Francesca's On Taylor.

Francesca's served me the best pasta I've ever had, anywhere. While you can't beat Tuffano's Vernon Park Tap for friendliness and neighborhood atmosphere, Francesca's does edge them out on the creativity of their menu. I had "capalacci" last night - a hat-shaped pasta the waiter said they have only sometimes. Stuffed with mushrooms and mascarpone, it was absolutely delicious. The manager said it's made by "some old guy who used to be a baker" who brings it in himself. Whether the story was true or not, it was really a cut above almost any other pasta dish on Taylor Street. Two other things - portions are enormous and you can either share an entree or have enough for lunch the next day. Also, the staff is really nice when I come with my 85 year old mom in her wheelchair - which is unfortunately exceptional among restaurants.

Pros: excellent attentive service

Cons: a little noisy, but hey - it's an Italian restaurant!

It always happens - polarizing opinions get written because you've had a terrific or terrifying experience.
My advice: use spell and grammar check if you want to use "big" words. (See the one-star review below.)

I'm not a fan of Taylor Street. The college student/west-looper crowd just doesn't pass muster. If your party insists on staying on Taylor Street, make reservations at Francesca's On Taylor. The pricing keeps the college students out, and it leaves you with a refreshing, mature atmosphere. I'm not saying the prices are exorbitant. But, they are higher than that of Top Ramen and Miller Lite.

The food is consistently average to above-average. Francesca's is not Il Mulina, don't expect that. The consistency is the reason I recommend this, and every other Francesca's restaurant to friends, family, and out-of-towners. The food hardly ever disappoints, even if the restaurant gets loud, and crowded. But, hey... it's an Italian restaurant in Chicago. What else did you expect?

Four stars.

What can I say, when you take the trouble to book and that establishment accepts bookings, you are on time what can go wrong!! So you had to wait a 10 minutes also not so bad - if handled correctly.

However, the patronising hostess and the ineffectual manager could not do this and hence spoilt a evening with loved ones.

Please spare us from management that fogets the focus of the customer - after aksing politely what the delay was i was felt firmly that I was indeed in the wrong, wrong for asking, maybe i was not from chicago and did not know, maybe i had the time wrong, the efficient hostess lacking tact firmly reinforced a nonchalant responce, the manager who came far too close to me kept telling me how he ran his business- i dont care i just want to sit down and eat at the time the restaurant accepted my booking and contract.

The food was ok not great by any means, the service fast, so fast they forgot to clear the starters and then the bill came and had items i just did not order on it.

Warning bells should have wrung when the guests in front recieved free starters for the same problem.

Conclusion - Poor execution at Francesca's on Taylor average food and service needs to be polished.

Above all train the magmt in problem resolution , knock off the patronising tone and never give too much information as a way of explaination - i dont need to know how the error occured i just want it fixed.

Dont go - avoid the disapointment - try west randolph better selection and mgmt teams

Great service on a saturday. Food was good. We had a pizza and an egg plant entree. Food portions were large.. We had left overs..
No parking hassels... Would definitely recommend the place.

I live a few blocks away and have been going for years. I love the bar and the food is always the same - satisfying for the soul. Italian food, but mixed with modern American so not like the typical heavy over-plated servings of pasta as found elsewhere on Taylor.

Francesca's on Taylor is outstanding. The service was great. I got the Prosciutto (Italian dried Ham) on Melon as an appetizer. It was delicious! The bread is fantastic. Be sure to use the olive oil at the table to dip the bread in,, MMMMM DELICIOUS. For my main entree, I chose Pollo Alla Salvia which is a boneless chicken breast with mozarella cheese and prosciutto baked on top. There is a nice tomato sauce, but not too thick and had excellent pasta with it. I can HIGHLY recommend it. Following that up with coffee, there was NO room for dessert. My waiter was wonderful, and the entire staff treated me well!!

Of all the restaurants on Taylor Street in Chicago's Little Italy, this is my favorite. The pasta is amazing and the menu changes daily. I recommend the ravioli with cheese and tomato sauce (the ravioli fillings change day to day) and the bruchetta. In addition to menu items, they are happy to make custom pasta dishes with any ingredients you request - especially nice for vegetarians. Every item I have had here is phenomenal.

This place has some good food at a good price. The pasta dishes and fish are very good. We always go in a large group, but always get good seating. Can get crowded so reservations are recommended.

Don't bother making reservations because this place won't honor it. My reservation was for 8:30 P.M. and didn't get seated until 9:00 P.M. As for the service, I don't have much to say, I only saw the waiter two times. Once to take my order and the second to pass by.
I don't recommend anyone to go to this resturant.

Francesca's can get very crowded, especially on weekend nights, but this location accepts reservations. Tables are close adding to the convivial atmosphere, but leaving little elbow room. The food is simple and delicious; pastas are perfectly dressed, not drowning in sauce. It's hearty fare at a great price.
