The fellow that gave the bad review must have an ax to grind, (who cares if the pop comes in a can) Thayer's is a top notch neighborhood establishment!!! We drive 20 miles every Friday evening to eat there. The food is ALL homemade.(just like grandma used to make) The service is second to none. The wait staff will know you by name just after a visit or two. The soups and deserts are the best I have ever had. Perfectly sandwiched around real homemade dinners. Mrs. Thayer will visit your table at least once during your visit. She is a first class woman!!!

5 Star neighborhood restaurants. No it??s not the Ritz I would know I cooked there. It??s a small but wonderful neighborhood restaurant. This is not a chain restaurant serving pre-packaged pumped up food. Everything is home made with quality ingredients and seasoned very well. The service staff is TOPS; the waitress has greeted us by name since our first time there. We don??t even have to tell her what we would like to drink, She even remebers this as well. I have cooked professionally in the past for 2 decades and I??m telling you this is a great place to have in Joliet.

Wow...the reviewer who gave 1* must've been here on a bad day, because this place is delightful! The first time we visited Mrs. T. gave my kids each a beanie baby, and every time we've been there she stops by the table to see how we are. This is a tiny, homey neighborhood joint with home-cooked food like your grandma would make. Today we went for home-made chicken n dumpling soup and had fresh baked chocolate cookies (3 for $1) for dessert. Love this place!

How could Mrs. Thayer be the chef? On Sundays, GAME DAY, their kitchen is CLOSED? You can't even get soft drinks on tap. You have to buy it by the can.

This place is a great example of BAD management and even worse service. It's also a TERRIBLE place to go and watch a Bears game. You would think at THAYER brothers it would be exciting.

Well, Mr. Thayer's brother must be a jealous jerk because the "fans" at this bar complain about the home town team.

This place clearly shows the abundance of totally crappy establishments in Joliet. It's unfortunate that places so low class can actually survive.

This is a very small neighborhood restaurant. It has about 10 tables for 4. The food is all homemade by Mrs. Thayer (mother of one of the Bears players). They only have one waitress and the bar is adjacent to the restaurant. Mrs. Thayer will visit each table to make sure everything is OK. The food is like mom used to cook. If you do not like it, just let them know and they will fix whatever you would like. Very resonably priced. Specials daily. Great for lunch, if you can afford the wait.

PROS: good food
CONS: not many tables
