In ShortEstablished in 1982, this chain gained a following for its laid-back atmosphere and generous portions. Patrons settle into comfortable booths and tables in dining rooms with plants, artwork and décor reminiscient of the villas in the Tuscan countryside. Starters include scampi, sausage or pepperoni pizza, and several soup choices, as well as a signature seafood dip (crab, shrimp, cheese and marinara). Entrees include classics like lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parmigiana. There are also "Garden Fare" options, which promise 30 percent fewer calories.

This is a chain restaurant. There is one in Rockford on State St. My favorite here is the soup and the Olive Garden Salad and bread sticks. This is the greatest salad, they serve it in a never ending family style bowl. It is a great price at lunch, although the price goes up in the evening. In general it is an Italian restaurant, with many great pasta dishes. The only thing I have a problem with is how long it takes to be seated, (it seems like an event or something) when they clearly have open tables. Also sometimes the service is just slow. This is why I don't go there very often any more, but I sure miss the salad.

This is a very popular chain restraunt with food that is very good. Lately they have been changing there menu and I think that they have done a good job with the changes. The food is actually better, but a little more pricey. I think it's pretty nice of them to give a free glass of wine to your guests to entice them to buy the bottle.
Overall, this is a great place to eat. Free salad and breadsticks with every dinner. You are guarenteed to get your money's worth

Normally, The Olive Garden is my favorite restaurant because of the wonderful staff they hire. Everyone is usually so friendly and nice. Recently, my husband and I went to The Olive Garden and because they were a little busy, we opted to sit in the bar area at one of the tables. I ordered soup, salad and breadsticks and last I heard it was all you can eat. The server was clearing off our table before we were even finished eating. Our food came at different times (and so did our drinks). This was the first and only time I have not left a tip.
