Best place ever! Going here for years! Family loves it! Kids love it! Traveled all over and this is the only place I actually crave to go back to eat. We love the owner. He cares. You can not stop those who love the chain resturants but if you truly want an experience for whole family than go here! So worth any drive.

My wife and I have been to every quality eatery within 100 miles of Rockford. Lucerne's is in the top two. If you would like a chain eatery like atmosphere this place is not for you. If you are a fan of unique off the beaten path dining experience this is the place. The staff do an oustanding job of tending to your every need. The food is fun, romantic and delicious. Keep up the good work.

Here is the truth about Lucernes:

1. The restaurant needs to be updated decor wise - the ambiance is dated from the last renovation. Invest in a few dimmer switches.

2. The restaurant seemed to be dirty, there were things on the floor as we walked in that eventually ended up on our table.

3. The fondue holders should be washed, and the constant scraping of stero should have been done prior to opening for the evening.

4. We were not given a choice on the menu for appetizer.

5. We wanted the true Swiss fondue, but we got the mix of cheddar and Swiss that quite frankly tasted like velveeta.

6. There is a limited selection of wine, however, the Riesling was good. (No Pinot Noir)

7. The main course dipping sauces were brought out in plastic cups, they need to invest in glass type holders.

8. The main meal was also served on a cookie sheet. When we were done with our meal, the way the server took away our plates was very tacky. I am not sure the meat was truly angus and the lobster was not really succulent and the shrimp were definitely not jumbo size as indicated on the menu.

9. The service was horrible, the waiter talked to fast, he wasn't around enough, etc.

10. The desert was good, needed more pound cake and strawberries, etc.

I don't think we will be returning. We are glad we tried it, but we will be going to the Melting Pot in Schaumburg next time.

Went for my first time recently and will definitely go again. A relaxed, intimate, beautiful Victorian Home is the setting. Good selection on the menu, and you will not leave hungry! My husband is still raving about the cheese fondue, steak and the dessert - chocolate caramel fondue with strawberries! It is a bit pricey, but worth the money and a memorable dining experience.
Don't miss it - one of a kind!

Been here a few times for special occasions. Its a fondue restaurant, but with the plastic dixie cups that the sauces come in you'll begin to wonder about the $75 price tag. The food was mediocre each visit and the service was okay. I'd recommend driving into Schaumburg to The Melting Pot if you really want good fondue. This just isn't worth your time.
