Schooner's

I've grown up in Bloomington-Normal and this place is the home town place. Have you ever gone to a town on vacation and ask the locals where the spot to eat is, I'm telling you now the locals love this place. I have memories of many times in my life eating here and never am disappointed. I get the wings and onion rings almost every time but have had the tenderloin which is excellent. Overall, if you don't like this place, then you obviously don't understand it. It's not meant to be flashy, its not a chain its got the hometown feel and that's why its awesome. If your looking for Applebee's then don't come here but if your looking for hometown service and hometown feel, this is your place.

While driving to Schooner's a friend and I got a little off track and ran into a place called Nooners, this is NOT the correct place, it is NOT missing letters and DO NOT go in it. However when we did find the correct place which is on East Grove Street we were very pleasanlty surprised. Being avid wing eaters back home Schooner's had some work to do, and it definitely knows how to play the game. I would highly reccomend the wings. Go ahead and go for the Spicy, trust me! Will definitely be returning to Schooner's. =)

Schooners is an average restaurant with average food. The food that is served can easliy be made at home with out any problems and would taste just the same. I will admit that their wings and onion rings are very excellent though. I am mostly frustrated with the restaurants failure to maintain a clean eating environment. The dining room has a 1980 feel to it with drop ceilings which are stained from leaking water and has paneling on the walls. This place DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT, DEBIT, or CHECK. This angers me as I don't carry cash. They have an ATM on premise which charges a $2.00 fee (which I am sure they get a share of) and only allows mutlples of $20. Until this place starts accepting credit I will not be back. If you want good wings go to Wings Etc! Very clean and friendly service. Skip this place! Oh and thier fountain drinks are watered down as well. (they try and rip you off any way they can).

We love going to this neighborhood restaurant!! The food is fresh and always the same high quality. My husband NEVER leaves hungry. We always run into someone we know. It's a great place!

Schooners has awesome wings! The beer garden is great too in the summer. Prices are very reasonable. If you feel like sharing, try the tenderloin! Parking can get congested but some people parked on the street or in additional parking on the east side of the restaurant. It can get kind of loud at times too.

Schooners is a great little restaraunt and bar. From the outside, it may not seem too appealing, but the food is delicious! There wings are really good, as are their hand breaded onion rings. they have ahuge pork tenderloin sandwich and their burgers are really good too. You can bring the kids, especially earlier in the day, when alot of families are dining. It is a good value for the money, as you get alot for little money. Towards the evening, the crowd is mostly adults for wings and alcohol. They have a beer garden during the warmer months.

Schooners is a great place to eat and take the kids too! They are known best for wonderful buffalo wings, GIANT tenderloin sandwiches and more. Schooner's offers the best buffalo wings I have ever had, they are served with bleu cheese and celery. You get them by the pound, mild or spicy, and it's hard to order enough when you're eating with friends. Their famous King Tenderloin literally comes with FOUR BUNS, and its still almost too much to eat. If you go you have to try the onion rings. You get a huge plate of hand dipped rings that is a meal all by itself. They offer lunch specials every weekdays, all you can eat fish with homemade potato salad, baked beans & hush puppies, and a Sunday chicken fry served with homemade mashed potatoes, gravy, coleslaw and fresh baked dinner rolls. They also have homemade soups and chili in season, plus salads, sandwiches, catfish and if you can find the room dessert. Oh, and they have a nice bar, too. I would tell everyone to try this hometown favorite!
