Rock-N-Roll Comics aka Chicago Comics

by Steven M. | insider Insider | Rank: 16,479

Very nice place. A solid selection of books of all types, not just comics. A more than passable selection of toys as well, mostly straight out of diamond previews and a bunch of sideshow buffy stuff here.

The store is laid out very well, spacious for a comic shop and has an industrial music feel to the place. Most likely any given employee has more than 3 tattoos-that was my feel. They also seem to leave you well enough alone or they just talk amongst themselves. I'm not sure as I've not been there enough to know.

I like it, bring quarters for street parking, and enjoy the selection of books. Another thing is that, for once, the store is clean! I've been to enough stores here in the area and across the nation to appreciate something like that.

PROS: Clean,solid selection,spacious,atmosphere
CONS: Attitude?,parking

Best comic store ever

by Dan C. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,306

This is, without question, the finest comic book store I have ever encountered. You can find pretty much anything you're looking for, anywhere from the most recent issue of X-Men, to rows and rows of obscure mini-comic published on some guy's xerox machine. Best of all, the indy shelves are better stocked than any I've ever seen. They offer shelf space to local artists, they support intelligent titles... what more could you ask for? Nothing, that's what.

i love it and i am not a comic fan!

by Courtney B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,382

This is great store with tons of books and indie comics. There is quite a variety and a pretty good staff. There are more things in the store other than comics. There are political books, satire, and tons of zines.

Solid Indie Comics Store

by Emerson D. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,582

Located on prime real estate a few blocks from the Belmont L station, this sister store to Quimby's Books boasts a large, eclectic collection of mainstream and underground comics, special-interest coffeetable books, and (way in the back) self-published zines from local writers and artists. The staff keep to themselves, but seem to know their stuff when called upon. Shouldn't be intimidating to non-geeks. Could use a selection of second-hand books. Always worth rummaging.

PROS: Wide selection, smart staff, prime location
CONS: High prices
