This past weekend we saw the 8pm Sunday night show at IO. It was well worth the small price tag. The three improv groups were all very funny, especially Deep Schwa who closed the show. They offer a lot of different beers and cabaret style made it even more entertaining. I would recommend this for a low key night out if you're in the mood to laugh.

This place made for an interesting night out. In addition the staff was extra friendly and pretty funny. Great place to kick back on a date with you girlfriend or wife, however, it is just shy of being a first or second date kind of place.

Can be told that they are showing a Free performance (given title and everything) and when you get to the theatre you are charged....What the?!?! My advice CALL AHEAD! Some GREAT shows and GREAT performers at the I.O., but the surprise of paying for a show you weren't planning to pay for can put you in a bad mood and ruin the experience (I feel bad for the performers who have to work hard to change your mood from one of being "angry" to "happy and entertained"). Once you get past the possible "bait and switch" with prices, enjoy the show!

Improv Olympic is simply the best center for Improv in the city of Chiacgo! Like all improv group homes, there are some improv groups that are not the best. However, It does have the best groups in the city. Groups such as Carl and the Passions and the Cougars are on the stage quite often, even for the free shows every Wednesday night!

IO is one of the few famous performance venues that doesn't cost a mint to see. The shows can be free or cost a minor sum. Obviously, some performers are better than others, but you have to admire these guys for having the guts to get on stage, produce comedy, and all without a script. IO has nurtured some famous comedians who got their start here: Mike Myers and Andy Dick to name a few.

It's also a great place to hang out with friends. Maybe their selection of booze is narrow, but then you're there for the laughs and the conversation. You'll find all sorts of audience members from college kids to the kids' parents.

Not sketch comedy, not stand-up comedy -- Improv Comedy. Many argue that Chicago is it's birthplace and this is the place to see it at it's finest. Downstairs they have different teams performing the improv form "The Harold", created by the late Improv Guru, Del Close. Upstairs see more traditional comedy shows.

PROS: No minimum. Fun for groups too!
CONS: Parking can be impossible. Don't even think of parking on cubs night.

Bored? Try a little entertainment with improv olympic. Shows range from improv games to full length one act musicals. Saturday night, watch the group called Baby Wants Candy and listen as they create a musical right in front of your eyes.

PROS: Famous Alums, No drink requirement
CONS: Too close to Wrigley field madness

Went there on Valentines for something fun to do and will definetly be back. There is not much you can do in this town for $12 and have such a great time. Lots of fun and would recommend.

This comedy club was a great experience. The atmosphere was cozy so you where right there with the comedians who where hilarious. It is amayzing to think that they make up such funny stuff right on the spot. The show i saw was even interactive. Overall it was a great time and i would recomend it to anyone in the chicago area, or who is visiting(like i was).

A group of us went to see the show recently and we all really enjoyed it. The performance was witty and made us laugh the whole way through. The service was good and friendly. I highly recommend this place either as your evening destination or the first stop on a night out.

ImprovOlympic has some great shows with seasoned professionals. These people are the best improvisors in the nation, which makes a visit worthwhile...when you catch these teams. When you are stuck watching a beginner team, the night can be a painful one and you might find yourself wishing you were anywhere but where you are.
