Medici On 57th

When I visited a friend who was attending Law School at UofC we went here for breakfast and for hamburgers.

It's a Hyde Park landmark and students have been going here for ages- just a few blocks from where our new President lived.

I liked the fresh squeezed OJ and the burgers were delicious.

Nothing fancy but I enjoyed the atmosphere here.

The Medici is NOT owned by the Medici family, it's owned by a Hyde Park family that also owns the UM next door and The Pub at the U of C.

Also, try the Mexicana shake made with coffee ice cream, not vanilla.

The medici is owned by the medici family and boy have they done a great job on it! It's near the lab school so kids are always coming by to get their grub on, but it is hands down the best bakery of all time. The only thing better than the pastries would have to be the coffee and ice cream. Awesome! The price only makes it sweeter!

Tired of the same old eating routine? Want a different experience and environment? Try Medici on 57th. In the heart of historic Hyde Park and a stones throw away from the University of Chicago, Medici is perfectly located and easily accessible. The food is great and the service is friendly and fast. Medici also allows it patrons to leave their personal mark on the walls and furniture. There are plenty of messages and names scrawled along the walls and engraved in the table. A wonderful eatery and not too hard on the wallet.

PROS: Good Food, Great Location, Quick Service
CONS: No Parking

The Med has the best garbage pizza in town. It's not literally garbage but has almost everything on it. They are in a great location in Hyde Park and they're customer service is wonderful. This restaurant is very clean and tidy. I would definately recommend this place to anyone.

As a student at UofC, I went to the Med all the time. I love it - the toasted ravioli, vegetarian lasagne, and salad with white french dressing (why can't I find that dressing anywhere else?!) are personal favorites. For dessert, don't miss the Vaguely Reminiscent, which is excellent. I've liked pretty much everything I've had there over the years.

The service can be a bit spotty, but most people are content to hang out there instead of incorporating it as part of a plan (which would involve leaving on time).

Overall, I definietely recommend it.
