I have been taking my son, who is 23 months to MCDC for about 4 months now. He has had some pretty tough separation anxiety issues. The staff has worked hard to help him transition and I can tell he is excepting them more and more everyday. They even texted me a picture of him having a good day so I wouldn't worry. He's coming home everyday saying his days of the week and seems to be proud to learn. I was very nervous to leave him but I feel confident they are taking good care of him and he is thriving. I can tell the owner really cares and is hands on in every room every time I stop by. As for the other comment about the kids in diapers all the time, I have never seen that ever and I stop by quite frequently.

I have had my child at the Murphysboro Child Development Center (MCDC) since he was about 4 months old. Currently, he is a little over 3 1/2 years old. My son and I moved here from New Mexico so I could attend graduate school at SIUC. I have found the director, as well as other staff members, to be very good and caring people, with a good lump of them possessing 2 yr and 4 yr degrees in early childhood education (the director has a bachelor's degree). This daycare was not any cheaper or more expensive than other daycare's I had visited (both here and in Carbondale) as they charge pretty much the same rates as everyone else. But, it was their welcoming attitude and understanding of childcare issues one encounters from being a single-parent (as was the situation in my case) at the MCDC that has made me want to keep my son enrolled. The MCDC has become almost like a second "home" for my son when he isn't at home with me...These caregivers have become my friends-not just daycare employees. Thus, I know I can trust them to care for my son properly-which they have always done! I give a "thumbs up" to the MCDC!

I almost signed my child up but after the third visit, I noticed a repetition to seeing infants in crowded cribs all in diapers! They staff was yelling at the babies to go to sleep. I was shocked! I got a sense that it was like an orphanage. The children always seemed to be upset. Definitily not where I want my child.
