I have recently rejoined fit club after moving back to the area and i dont understand why all the negativity I love this place the staff is very friendly and easy to talk to and the club is very clean and i dont find it that crowded they have plenty of machines to go around and so what if you have to wait a few minutes. Lets not forget the best part (for me at least) is the kids clubhouse i mean where else are you going to get free childcare why you work out and again the staff are great with the kids.
As for the not being able to get out of the contract thing there are a few ways and they tell you all this before you sign so to say you didnt know or whatever would most likely be a lie.
Bottom line is I think this is a great place and would recomend it to anyone!

I had a membership with Fit Club with my wife. We went for about 3 months before our son was born and stopped thereafter because we were busy to say the least.

The Fit Club will not let you dissolve the membership and they will continue to take the fees out of your account even after the year contract is up. They will not refund your money for charges after your obligatory contract. For the past 9 months we have not attended. They certainly have records on that since you have to scan in when you enter the facility.
If they had any customer service they would look and see that we have been good paying members for a membership that had not been used and refund the one month that they extended the contract.

Think twice about committing to any contract such as this that allows the company to take money out of your account after the obligatory contract period is over. It is a sales ploy. The difference between companies in this respect is customer service. The Fit Club places sales over customer service.

So for 90.00 they have turned me away to any future business with them.

Take a look at Cardinal Fitness (only $20/month) or the YMCA both of which do not require a yearly contract or buy some equity in fitness machines for your home.

Fit Club - with other facilities available in the area for less money you should rely on customer service to keep your members.

This is in response to Sevastions comments on FitClub West. I am a personal trainer at the West location and I am a male. At this location we currently have 5 male trainers and 1 female trainer. It is very understandable that the management that we have here is currently not interested in hiring another male trainer at this time. Maybe you misunderstood or did not do your research while making your claim, because if you look at the employees at this facility you could easily see that FitClub is not interested in the "T and A" that you spoke of (referring to my mention earlier on that we have 5 male trainers and only 1 female trainer). FitClub has good facilities and great staff, maybe something was misunderstood because it is very easy to see that the claims you made are completely and 100% false.

I want everyone to know that I am a man, and I applied for a job as a personal trainer at Fit Club on the West Side of Springfield, Illnois and the owner told me that he only hires females for personal trainers. I told him that was kind of sexist and that is discrimination. I also asked him that if I had a degree in physical fitness if he would hire me and he still told me "no" He couldn't really give me a explanation on why he only hires females. I have worked out for 4 years. I don't have a a degree, but I am very very educated on what muscles are what, plus I am a people person. I was disgusted that a manager of his stature would say something like that, when EVERYONE loves Fit Club. Its overrated, expensive, and the owner is only looking for T & A. Truth be told, he only hires females for his own satisfaction. I will tell everyone that I know that Fit Club is not where its at. If the manager acts like that, I would hate to see how his "female trainers" would act. I will also contact the Dept. Of Labor to see what they say. I hope he likes his "females" now. Lets see if the Dept of Labor likes him.

PROS: None
CONS: Everything. The owner is a hater of men and he discriminates.

I have used this club for several years now. One advantage they have is several locations so you can use anyone you want to anytime. One of the locations is open 24 hours except on weekends which is very nice for after you get off work. The equipment at the locations I have been to is new and they have everything I need. This is definitely the most popular club in town so it is often very crowded about 5-6 p.m. after work. I usually avoid ut until later at night or go in the morning anyway. The fees for membership are better than the other gyms in town as well.

I have been going to Fit Club for over 7 yrs, before it even became Fit Club. The facility is big. Equipted with pools, sauna, and whirlpools it gives you a variety. The only problem is that it is sometimes crowded, but I guess that is to be expected!
