Ultra-chewy risotto (can you say styrofoam peanuts?) and inferior service. Told our waiter that we needed to have a timely departure to make a theatre curtain, then went ahead and ordered an extra course at his urging. You guessed it:

Went there for a private event, the wine list was very good and the food was great. They also have a shop in the front where they sell the wine.

Very trendy, and they know it. Very "upscale loft" feel, but nice and open, and the wine selection is ridiculously amazing. Right next door to the House of Blues, therefore perfect for a drink before a show. And somehow, they also manage to be a coffee shop, open at 6:30 AM. This astounds me.

I love wine and when great food is added to that equation it's even better. I went to BIN 36 last week with a couple of friends and will definitely be returning. I honestly can't believe I've never been there, it's been open for 9 years!

This is an unusual combination of restaurant, bar, and wine shop. The front of the house is where you find the wine and some unusually great wine accessories. The back holds the bar and the see-and-be-seen crowd. The side is the restaurant, where the food is usually good if pricey. The reason to go, of course, is that the waitstaff know their wine and will direct you accordingly to a memorable bottle. Located near the House of Blues, this is a good place for a pre-concert dinner or drink.

PROS: they know their wine
CONS: trendy and somewhat overpriced

Chicago's decade-old Bin 36 entered a new era---ushering it in with an almost entirely different menu (don't worry---the killer black pepper-crusted swordfish remains). Its cheese program, already first-rate, expanded; now, lovely…
