When i get the money i will pull my children out and put them somewhere eles!!!!

You will not find a finer daycare/preschool in this area. I've had three children attend there through the years, and each of them has benefited from their social and educational experiences at TECC. The staff is caring, attentive, and sincere. If an employee does not display these characteristics, he or she is promptly let go. There is a family environment at TECC, which is something we as parents greatly appreciate. No, it's not grandmother's house, where our children have center stage to themselves, but it is a safe, clean home away from home that treats our children as their own. We have made many friends with other parents at TECC through the years, and all of them have high praise for the facility and staff. Deciding on a daycare/preschool is a tough and at times, overwhelming experience. It took us several months and many visits to numerous facilities. I have never regretted choosing TECC over the others. They treat our children as we do--as our most precious natural resource.

I have had my 2 children at TECC for 3 years now, and i couldnt feel more comfortable about dropping my children off in the morning knowing that they are going to be ok untill i pick them up in the afternoon. My youngest child attended the preschool program there for 2 years and together we have all seen her go off to kindergarten, my oldest child who is 10 now has done alot of growing while at the Center and they have been there to help me in some of the hard times that parents sometimes go through. They are angels that i also call my friends. They have treated us better than some family we have. They also do alot with the children, rather it be field trips or spring or christmas plays they always know how to show us parents a good time. I love these ladies! Dont know what i would do without them!

To all the people who have negative feedback about Troy Early Childhood Ctr. As far as the director having children in her office for special time. The director is never alone with a child. Her secretary is always with her. The older children in the centers care who are 10 or 11 don't want to be at a day care anyway, go into the office to help out with any odd jobs the director might find for them to do. They beg to help. As far as the CHASI mother. I too am on this program. Yes the extra fees are kinda hard sometimes to pay. A payment plan is always set up so payments will fit my budget and that the fees are paid off by the end of the month. A calendar and permission slips for all field trips for the month go out a month in advance. Did you know that a bus cost $45 an hour to rent? The fees include not only admission but to help pay for the bus, and yes ice cream from the truck cost $2. Once when my children couldn't go on a field trip because I didn't have the money, the staff took up a collection and paid for them to go. Find that at another day care!! The staff at TECC on Charter goes well beyond there call. But then again you can't please everyone!!

I thank all the parents for posting these reviews, good and bad, as it has been very frustrating trying to find new day care for our child in the area. But after reading the review about some children getting special attention by teachers, does it bother anyone else that some children are getting alone time in the directors office for "fun time". I personally think that no child should be alone in the directors office, even if this was a harmless event. YOU CAN'T BE TOO CAREFUL THESE DAYS. Just something to think about.

I have had my son there for about 3 years when I had another child, I then pulled him from the daycare to an in home facility where they could be together and a little cheaper for me.... Boy, I was really wrong, my children both were enrolled in the center 7 months later again, and they were very greatful for them returning and seemed to really miss my son. They are very good about planning and doing activities, now however I will say I wish I would see the staff participating a little more in the activities but overall it is a wonderful environment for my children. They really are a wonderful, clean facility with a wonderful staff.

I have two young girls enrolled at TECC and could not be happier with the facility. I find the staff warm and friendly and feel that they genuinely care for my children. Both girls are thriving and LOVE it!
There are a wide range of activities planned and parents and grandparents are always welcome to join.
Anyone considering this school please keep in mind that its human nature to complain loudly but when we are happy we sometimes aren't as vocal. My guess is that there are dozens of very happy parents that just haven't taken the time to comment.
The price is not cheap but coming from the St. Louis area I feel its well worth it.
As far as turnover - I don't feel its excessive at all for the child care industry.

A++++

My child has attended this center for two years now and I must say that I am very satisfied with the staff, the facility, the curriculum and the food. I have a very picky eater and she always eats everything on her plate and has second helpings. This is not her first time in daycare, she attended a very well known daycare where we used to live before attending T.E.C.C. and the two do not come close to comparing. The staff have shown me nothing more than kindness and they all seem to find enjoyment in working with children, which we all can agree that, its not always easy.Regarding the "lice outbreak", in the two years I have been at the center, there never once has been a problem with lice. I also want to say that every time I walk in the building there is someone cleaning and/or sanitizing. I know that lice is a major issue when it comes to children, but don't you think if there was an outbreak everyone would be notified and the children's head would all be checked. The management doesn't come across as people who would let something like that quietly slip by, wouldn't their risk factor be higher? Why would they put the other children, the staff and themselves in that position, it seems to me that trying to "cover it up" would be more of a hassle.I think before parents start throwing accusations and bad reviews around, they need to stop and look at the whole picture. Those ladies put up with a lot, I know my daughter is not perfect, and yet they still come to work everyday to take care of our children. The staff goes above and beyond to try and make everyone happy, I have had to drop my child off well before the actual opening time and those ladies smiled and opened the door and acted as if it they had been open for hours. I have also drove by the center after hours and to my surprise there was still an employee there waiting on a parent who had got stuck in traffic. I don't know about most of you, but that makes me so relieved that there is someone like that looking after my child when I cant be with her.My question to the past reviewers is, if you are so unhappy with the way the daycare is handling things, then why is your child still attending? And also why are you not taking up your concerns with the management, instead of posting an ANONYMOUS review?

I have a child in the school age room at troy early childhood and I am disgusted with the way things are being ran. Last Friday there was an outbreak of head lice and no notes were sent home to parents nothing mentioned and no nurse there to check the children's heads today! That is disgusting and ridiculous we pay an arm and a leg to keep our children there and for what??!! So our children can occupy themselves while the staff sit on their butts and gossip and talk about what they did the past weekend. The food they serve is pathetic and over all I am not happy I would give to .5 of a star out of 10. PATHETIC

My daughter has been going to troy early childhood center for a long time now, so I do agree that they spend a lot of time teaching and preparing their children for school. They are always planning a fun out of school field trip, or a just a fun day full of activities at the center. One concern/problem is that the teachers tend to pick out certain children in each classroom that they favor. Those children are usually not forced to play with the other children, but given special privileges such as hanging out in the directors office having fun time, or sitting on their teachers lap combing their hair while the others are forced to find something to do?My other problem is that they try to squeeze you for everything that you have. I have had several conversations with other parents and they all think the same. They focus more on the amount you are paying and are constantly upping their fees. They really do not give a crap if they have a relationship with you as a parent as long as you are paying your weekly fee. I would say that TECC is a good daycare, but there are others that re far much more reasonably priced and have just as good of a curriculum.

I currently have a 4 year old and a 14 month old enrolled in this daycare. They've just recently built an entirely new building that is light, clean and modern. The playground has new equipment and an awning that keeps the kids in the shade on summer days. The staff all know my children and give very personalized attention. Unlike other daycares, they send home daily correspondence letting you know exactly what and how much they ate, what times they slept from, what kind of day that had, what activities they did during the day, etc. The staff and director there have been very courteous and helpful in everything we've needed. I looked at daycares in Troy, Marine, Highland, Collinsville and Edwardsville and am so happy we chose this one!

I registered my son at this daycare despite my initial reservations after a couple of visits.

I originally told the office staff of my son's dislike of milk due to his terrible reflux as a baby when he was unable to drink it. However, he does drink soy milk. They acted like they didn't know what to do with that information.... I suggested I could either bring the milk in myself or he could drink juice or water.... The first day of his attendance I mentioned this to the childcare staff and they were unaware of the issue altogether and once again acted baffled as to what they were supposed to do.

In our two weeks, I saw them reading to the children in a quiet setting once. I did not bring home a single art project. I did not receive any communication (written or otherwise) as to whether he napped, ate, played outside, etc...

The childcare staff was usually sitting down talking to each other while the children play on their own. They were unconcerned when a child arrives/leaves.

Everything there is random. There didn't seem to be a set schedule of any kind. Some children are eating, some are playing, etc. It just makes it very disorganized. One day my son's backpack would be upstairs, the next day it was downstairs - never hung under the cubby with his name on it.

The toys are very nice toys. However, there are entirely too many available at any given time. Especially for the younger children, fewer is better - then alternate every few weeks or so.... Once again, it makes for disorganization and crowding. Giving a child too many choices is overwhelming and doesn't give them a chance to focus on such nice toys that could be very educational.

I never saw positive reinforcement or encouragement from the staff - only corrective discipline. For instance, instead of trying to redirect a child to another toy when you see he's wanting a toy another child has, they just wait for the fight to ensue, then say no...

I sincerely hope my experience was an isolated one.

Overall TECC is a good daycare. They are generally consistent, and the staff show genuine care for the children, and interest in their development. The times we've made surprise visits, our son has always been in good care, and on at least 2 visits, the air smelled of bleach water, which they use to sanitize the toys and heavily used areas.

As far as drawbacks are concerned, there are a few. First, I agree the place isn't as well organized as it should be. They sometimes forget to return all of the baby's bottles to us. And our son has had a continuous problem with contact dermatitis on his face, and it appears to be coming from the daycare because it always heals up on the weekends, but then returns big time on the Monday he goes back. When we brought it to their attention, his main care provider knew about it, but it didn't seem the temporary or fill-in staff knew about it.

On another instance, when I recommended that they post a picture of each kid on the kid's crib for identification purposes, they stumbled around with that idea, so it doesn't appear they put as much thought into the business workflow design as they could.

But overall, despite some of these coordination and communication issues, they are pretty good at what they do, and as one other reviewer said, they have a secured entry. We've never been in doubt about our son's safety or well being. If you can get beyond these few manageable issues, they are worth considering.

One thing I noticed was that none of the reviewers have their own children in this day care facility.
Unlike the other comments, I find TECC very organized and planned. They are also the only daycare in the area that has a secured entry. They are very clean, which was important to us, and keep us informed very well of our daughter's activities during the day.

I want to add some more experiences to my review since our daughter is odler now. I think all parents at times want to know what thier child is doing all day at day care when the child cannot ome home and communicate it because they are too young. We know what they are doing during the day because our daughter would come home and start singing a new song that we never taught her, our start counting to 20 when she is just turning 2. She absorbs a lot of wha tthey teach and typically when we go in and ask what they are working on that week, they tell us and it explains what she is doing at home.

From researching childcare options for my daughter in the local area, I have little confidence in the Troy Early Childhood Center. It is characterized by a sense of disorganization; teachers do not exhibit much control and the facility itself is dank. My sister-in-law actually applied for a summer job here because she is pursuing a degree in education and was told - we'll definfitely be hiring, there's an incredible amount of turnover at this facility. She did not take the position...and this environment is not one I would feel comfortable putting my daughter in daily.

In choosing a preschool for my daughter, I have done extensive research, but have been sort of frustrated that little was out there on the Internet. Thus - I am basing this review upon my friends' experiences, but did want to share. Many had very negative experiences here - not that any child was injured or harmed in any way, but they were very frustrated with the lack of organization. For example, when appearing a little early to pick up a 2-year-old, it took several minutes to FIND her. :( Also, when a 3 year old soiled her clothes, they were never found again - most likely shipped off wtih another child accidentally - but when my friend asked about the clothes a few days later, the staff acted like she should NOT be worried with finding the clothes. :(
