Andres Auto Repair Service

I took my car to Andres Auto for a second opinion after I had a bad experience with the dealer which told me the headgasket needed to be replaced due to an oil leak. Well it turned out that the oil leak was coming from a oil filter adapter Not The Head Gasket. Also the prices were much lower than Perillo.

took my car in for inspection/brake work. They said to replace all 4 brakes,pads,rotors, repack bearings,etc. OK. they made my car worse. instead of replacing as the bill indicates they ground down my rotors and warped them worse. after 5 mins of driving, all 4 wheels were burning hot; you could see the new grooves cut in rotors. They said that i need new tires and an alignment. the car is in worse shape than before i took it in and i am poorer.
i could go on but...

We took our car to another shop, they said there was nothing wrong (despite the fact that the engine would die when it idled). We took it to Andres Auto Repair. Luis took a look at it and was able to fix the problem quickly without any hassle. I'd strongly recommend this place to anyone.

I took my car into Andres and worked with Luis! He was great. He was very helpful and was able to diagnois my problem very easily. The shop fixed my car super fast and it has been running great ever since. They were also more than reasonable in terms of price. I would take my car there again in a second! Great local spot! I would recommend them to everyone!

My car needed maintenance and I am rather new to Chicago, so I didn't know where to go. Through City Search, I found Andres Auto. Luis was the person I dealt with on the phone and he was always polite, professional and accommodating.

The figure I was quoted was actually a tad more than the actual cost, which is so much better than having it turn out the other way around. I was able to use one of their loaner cars for three days - for free. This made my life much, much easier!

When it was time for me to pick up my car, I couldn't get the loaner car out of the parking spot because it was plowed in. I called and Luis said that he would send someone to get me unstuck. The end result was that Luis had to stay in the shop 90 minutes after closing - waiting for me to arrive. He stayed in touch with me and the tow truck and I think the auto shop must have absorbed the tow fee because I didn't have to pay it. Without a doubt, this is service above and beyond anything that I have experienced before.

When I finally arrived 90 minutes after closing, Luis was still polite, professional and accommodating, rather than ready to snap my head off!

As far as the work that was done - it was $800 in brake work and general maintenance and, not knowing a lot about mechanics, I would never really know if the such-and-such belt was really replaced or the thingy valve was really tightened but ,from what I experienced so far, I have every reason to believe that all the work was done and done well.

My experience was positive and I have trust in the place. And that feels good!

Pros: Nice people to deal with, work done well, cheaper than the other estimate I got elsewhere.

I was at this shop for a no heat problem and was quoted $800 for a heater core. Didn't have the money at the time so I picked up the car and was driving it like this for the time being. In the meantime car started to overheating so I checked the antifreeze, it was low. Well I got some from local parts store and filled up the radiator and reservoir bottle and guess what the heat came back. I had a loose hose clamp that's all. I spent $11 for antifreeze and tighten a clamp, better than $800 for a heater core!

In the search for a mechanical shop we knew that the trust factor was at the top of our list when it came to sending our clients for repairs. We also knew how we needed a shop with trained technicians that would treat our clients with respect and communicate in words that were understandable. We expected top tier service as our clients vehicles would be done quicker than the competition. Online appointments simplified the scheduling process and a clean office was a must. This is what we found when we allowed Luis of Andres Auto Repair Service to serve us with our mechanical needs!

Being a woman, it's hard to find a mechanic that will give you the respect you deserve and explain things to you without treating you like you're an idiot just because you don't know about cars. I always receive this respect and great service from Andres' which is why I've been their loyal customer for the past 10 years. Thank you Luis for fixing the air conditioning on my van last week, I'm now ready for Summer!!

On Monday May 19, 2008, I was searching for a garage to fix my caltalytic converter and I happened to discover Andres Auto repair online. First, I was not sure if I should take my car to this garage I do not know anything about. After calling ten different garages and evaluate their csutomer service abilities, I decided to go to Andres auto repair despite the distance because of the courteousy exhibited by the manager of the garage Luis Avila on the phone. I was amazed by the great service I received from Andres AUTO REPAIR and will strongly recommend this garage to all my friends and classmates at Chicago State University.

We were in Chicago for a family vacation when the radiator overheated on my Jeep on a friday night around 5pm. We called Andre's and explained our situation and he said he would look at first thing Saturday morning. At 1pm, I still had not heard from the shop, so I called them. I was put on hold for 10 minutes and then told that both upper and lower hoses along with the radiator needed to be replaced, along with a "switch" and the fan. This would cost me $1500 and it might be fixed on monday. We opted to have a family member come with a U-haul trailer and we trailered it back home. At home, our local radiator repair shop fixed the fan in five minutes. I did need a new radiator, but the bill came to $565.23, much better than the $1500 that Andre's quoted me. I have to wonder if I was being taken advantage of seeing as Andre's knew we were from out of town.

I've always been apprehensive when it comes to taking my car in for repairs. I've had a lot of bad experiences and always get nervous. I'm a smart girl and don't need anyone to talk to me as though I'm a monkey. When I took it to Andres I was ready for the worst and ready to argue. But I was wrong. The shop owner was very nice and helped me understand what was wrong with my car. He didn't do any repairs without my approval first and there were no surprise charges at the end. Yes, I would definitely recommend him to my friends and family.And as a matter of fact, I already have.

This review is comming from some one who grew up in a gas station through the 60's & 70's. Dad believed in child labor. It was great to find a service center that reflected the values dad ran his business by. Never cheat the customer, great service brings them back, make sure the customer is informed of future needs. I would recomend Andre's to my best freinds. I have been a customer for 7 years.

I moved to Chicago fairly recently and, of course, I needed a mechanic. Not really knowing where to turn, I took a gamble with Andres and was pleasantly surprised that I wound up with a reliable and fair mechanic who does good and punctual work.

Andres Auto is the only shop to service my car. Luis, the owner, is always there and is extremely knowledgeable. He is always thorough in explaining the repairs that are performed on my car and to point out which repairs are vital and which are preventative maintenance. He's also great at identifying potential hazards (like the time Luis told me I would need new tires and sure enough, six months later, one of my front tires was on the verge of bursting, causing the whole car to shake--totally my fault, I chose not to get new tires when he suggested). Andres Auto is reasonably priced, a bargain really for the services they provide because they have rectified every problem I've had with my vehicle, even when it has stumped other mechanics; my car was shaking and I took it to two other shops, both of which told me that all I needed was a tune up. After two tune ups within a month, Andres Auto discovered that anti-freeze was leaking and suggested using a sealant to stop the leakage instead of replacing parts, which would have been about 3 times more expensive--I have not been to another auto shop since. Luis and his mechanics are great! More than competent, honest, and reasonably priced--everything one looks for in a mechanic.

Cons: Loaner cars are always kind of dirty (but then, who else offers the convenience of free loaner cars?)

Our company, A-Appliance Xperts, has over 13 trucks which we use on a daily basis and is vital to our daily operation. Andres Auto has provided excellent service to all our needs including quick towing, prompt service at short notice and reasonible prices. As our company grows we will continue to use Andres Auto for all of our needs. Andres Auto also services our personal vehicles with the same care they provide for our commercial trucks.

We depend on Andres Auto as a part of our company and they have not let us down.

I went to Andres Auto for the first time about 12 years ago when my van would not pass the emissions test. They fixed the van and even brought in to the test facility for me. I have been going to many car repair shops over the years, but I keep coming back to Andres Auto. Luis, the owner does look out for his customers. I can now afford nicer cars so I don't need to go as often, but when I do, I am always happy. The last time I went in I thought that I needed an alignment on my car. I just had warranty work done and the car pulled to the right about a week afterwords. Luis(The Owner) found that the dealer did not do a good job and took pictures for me to bring to the dealer to repair the car the correct way. Not only did they fix the car, they did everything Luis told me to tell them as extra work to be done that was not under warranty but may have been damaged from the bad job. Luis would not accept any money from me for his time and pictures. I have never had a bad experience at this repair shop. Even when there is no money to be made from a repair he does the right thing. I am sold on this shop.

I highly highly recommend this place. Was a fraction the price of the dealer. I actually wrote a 2000 character review but lost it when I click "done" and got "Internal Server Error, sorry for inconvenience." About that one negative review, completely unfounded. Don't knock it unless u have tried it. Luis, the current owner of Andres Auto repair was great to work with and I'm happy to say my car is running perfectly 1 week after it left the shop. Many thanks to the team at Andres Auto.

Pros: Much much more affordable than dealer, great manager, very very timely repair, awesome staff

Cons: kinda in a shady area...no cafe's to hang out in while car being repaired...make sure to either take Luis up on free loner car or arrange for someone to pick u up and drop you off when ur car is done.

My wife initially took her car to Andres for emissions work, and was so pleased with the service that she received that she recommended the shop to me. We have since been taking our Volkswagens to Andres for a year now, and have continued to be very happy with the service we've received. The manager, Luis, is knowledgable, straight forward, and happy to accomodate. Their estimates are always reasonable, and they will take the time to make sure you are well informed about the work being done. Luis has gone out of his way to make sure that I was happy with the work they had done on my car. It's never fun when your car needs service, but at least you can take it to a place that you know is up front about the costs and means what they say.

I used Cityseach to find this repair shop. The shop is very courteous, gives good estimates on what needs to be fixed as well as honest recommendations on other potential problems with your car. They have a web site (Look up Andres Auto Service using your favorite search engine) where you can book your appointment online. The owner is quite personable and friendly and gives good explanation as to the problem with your auto. I will give a strong recommendation for this repair shop.

My 99 Acura was shaking while braking I had taken my car to several shops including Midas, Pepboys and after changing the brake calipers, brake rotors, brake pads, cv axles the car would feel just better but not quite right, I still had the vibration at the expressway while braking at 55mph. I didn't want to take my car to the dealer and after a friend recommended me to Andres Auto Service, I drop of my car Monday and later on the same day I got a call from Andres Auto. the told me the they found excessive brake rotor runnout and recommended to resurface the rotors on the vehicle I agreed to do the work. I picked the car the following day and I was amazed the way the car handled, no more steering wheel shaking. I happily give a 10 to Andres Auto and would recommend it to anyone, they are now my only shop for my american and foreign cars I own.

My car had a clunk noise while turning the steering wheel, I took it to the dealer and they said it needed a new gear & pinion. I couldn't afford the price for the repair so a friend told me to try Andres Auto Service, After they inspected the car they told the noise was caused by loose bolts holding the gear & pinion. The car is fixed and the shop did a great job, I'm very pleased with the work and their honesty.

Great Shop! My Jeep had failed the emission test several times and Andres Auto was able to fix it in one day while other shops couldn't figure it out in one month. Highly recommended
