Didn't like that our waitress didn't say A THING about a cork screw usage fee. (For her to bring out a corkscrew for the bottle of wine we bought cost us $6! I could've bought another bottle of wine with that money. She didn't bother to say anything, nor did she leave the cork at our table so that we could reseal the bottle. Then she was nowhere to be found, until we got up and walked toward the hostess to pay the bill. I was angry that we were overcharged.

Pros: Atmosphere was awesome! Great service.

Cons: The hummous was a little dry.

I love Kan Zaman! Their lunch menu, especially, is priced well and full of variety. I especially enjoy their french fries, as weird as that sounds. It's definitely worth a try, the food and service is terrific.

Seriously?! Who are these people that venture to this place? Have they not eaten amazing Lebanese food and been tricked into thinking this is good? This place is awful. The food was dry - I had a filet mignon shish kabob (the special of the night) and lacked any taste of olive oil or salt for that matter. The appetizers were mediocre in taste and small in size (the hummous was the worst thing I've ever had). I decided to go on a Friday night to catch the belly dancers, which were the highlight of this restaurant. This place has horrible acoustics because everything echos and people yell to hear eachother. I had a headache when I left and I can't be sure it was due to the loudness of the restaurant or the disgusting food. This is a definite pass.

Pros: the bellydancer comes around to dance with various tables

Cons: took forever to get a glass of water filled, the food lacked taste or oil, the acoustics force you to scream at your company

I stumbled across this place 4 years ago with some friends and we decided to give it a try. And I'm so glad we did because since then it is my favorite restaurant!!! It has a great atmosphere. You can either sit at a regular table or you can take off your shoes and sit on pillows around a table! It is BYOB which helps cut down on cost when going out! But cost isn't really even an issue when dining there because everything is so moderately priced!! I love the mediterranean spinach which is like $11, and there are always leftovers to take home! Everything on the menu is fantastic!!!!!!! Just writing this review makes me want to go there right now! This is a great place to go with friends or even for a romantic date!

Mmmmmmm, chicken Shawarma. I really dig this place, a great lunch spot in River North. Service is so-so, but what?s really important is the food. Best Chicken Shawarma in Chicago. I cant say Im an expert at Middle Eastern food, but I Know Yummy when I taste it, and Kan Zaman has plenty of it! Price could be a little lower for lunch in my opinion, but whatever, its not outrageous. Did I mention the Chicken Shawarma (with extra Tahini sauce)!

The food was delicious, service excellent (although it wasn't busy at the time) and the atmosphere was pleasing. We had a few appetizers, lamb and beef sausages in tomato sauce, which was excellent, and also the Baba Ghounoush, which was ok. There were four of us so we all got something different and shared a little. The beef kabobs were excellent as was the chicken. Meals include white rice or wheat, all of which was good. You also get salad or soup, my Lentil soup was excellent. One person in our party ordered a spinach dish which was delicious. We all had coffee and baklava for dessert and our total bill for dinner was $101.00 before tip. I will definitely stop here again the next time I am in town.

I used to go to Kan Zaman for lunch almost twice a week. The food is fantastic, and the service is good. It was a great deal, for about $10 or less. However, a couple of weeks ago, the menu changed and the priced jumped, making the lunch about $14 now, and it is just not the same deal. I know a lot of people in my office, and friends in the River North area used to go here as often as I did for lunch, and now all are boycotting it! what a disappointment!!! i have a feeling they will lose a lot of business from this stunt, but if you want a good mediterranean lunch, it really is great. im just so mad about the price!
try the combo kabob or vegetarian combo!

The food was so good here! And, it is true Middle Eastern food according to my Middle Eastern friends. As for the atmosphere, it's great except when the belly dancer is doing her thing. It gets a little too loud in the restaurant. Other than that, this is a great place that includes hookas.

Pros: Inexpensive, Not Crowded, Variety

This place has quickly risen to the top of my favorite spots list. It's easy to get to, the staff is fantastic, the decor and ambience is great for a sophisticated dinner with friends or a romantic dinner with "you know who." Top it all off with a delicious menu of traditionally prepared and presented Lebanese specialties. You can't go wrong. I also love that the wait staff didn't pressure us to go when we clearly wanted to sit and chat over our tea after dinner. Very european -- they give you your space and approach when you appear ready for your bill.

This is a good restaurant to have a group dinner, whether you're celebrating an event, have friends visiting, or just want to have an enjoyable dinner together. The ambiance brings the spirits up with Arabian booths with pillows, traditional decor and festive music. On Saturdays, you get to experience live belly dancing which immediately livens up the atmosphere in the restaurant. The food is highly recommended as well - very tasty and entrees come with rice or bulgar wheat, and delicious lentil soup or salad.

The Middle Eastern fare here is delicious (I love the silky hummus and the crispy falafels) and the prices are very reasonable. The exterior isn't much, but the dining room is comfortable and warm, and the service is prompt. Weather dining in or taking out, this is a great lunch spot in River North.

Kan Zaman serves authentic Middle Eastern food with a delicate touch. Adding to the appeal, it's BYOB and there's a distinctly exotic vibe to the room, which is the perfect backdrop for snacking on smoky baba ghanouj and rotisserie-cooked…
