found them local - used them like three times for transfers even though their rate is high (obviously a new and good customer)...purchased a used gun from them on layaway...lost my reciept..next time i went in they "had no record of the sale" - or my MONEY - even though i obviously paid money down as well as filled out paperwork as it was a firearm ! - they are obvious liars/thieves - never walked in that store again...one star only because system made me

I would have to tell people to look on line for anything that is in this store. there guns are way over priced. I recently bought my first handgun from there only to find it for $100 to $150 cheaper everywhere else I looked. As far as their transfer rate, it is at the high end of the spectrum too, $50 compared to $25 at most other places. I would only go back if I was in a pinch, but even then Cabela's is worth the drive.

I've been to Freddie Bear Sports 8-10 times because it is in a convenient location. Rarely did anyone greet me or ask if I needed any help. I am usually treated as if I wasn't there. When I asked a question, I was always given the most basic answer possible. The prices are not very competitive, the stock on hand is covered in dust, and the people who work there act as if you just walked into a private club. I come there in a suit or casual dress, and I guess I should wear camo to get any service. To top it all off, they profit from using a similar name to the late archery great Fred Bear, although they have no connection to him or his legacy. This is shameful. Of course, if they ran a friendly, helpful store, I would give them a pass on the Fred Bear thing. And don't even think about having a conversation about a gun. They either A) Know nothing or B) Make something up C) Act bothered about showing it to you. Sometimes all of the above. Talk about putting a bad face on the hunting sports. I'm a life NRA Member, and participate in five other hunting and fishing clubs and organizations. These guys do nothing for our sport.

This is a great and unique shop for fishermen and hunters. Aside from Wal-Mart, there's not anywhere else in this area to pick up bait, equipment, etc. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, and there is a bait machine conveniently located outdoors for use anytime.
