I recently started taking my business to Voegtle's, and will not go anywhere else now! I even do my basic oil-change's/P.M. there. They're honest, reasonably priced, and man, do they know their stuff! If U are reading this, and are anywhere within a short distance of Warrenville, take yer car needs to Voegtle's. These guys are the best! I'm a customer for life.

I have been going to Voegtle Auto Service for several years and have always been listened to and treated with respect. The work performed on my car has been top notch and I never worry that I'm being overcharged, or having parts replaced that don't need to be replaced as in the past with NTB. Most recently, I had a "free" tire rotation at NTB only to be told I needed new struts, etc, etc, etc - they see me coming a mile away. They knew I needed to go out of town the next day, so kept me waiting til after midnight to do necessary repairs so I'd be "safe" Unfortunately the wheel alignment was so far off, my tires would have been ruined had I driven the 1200 mile distance. Joe at Voegtle's not only took time out of his extremely busy day the next morning to look at the car, but actually performed a fix on the alignment allowing me to drive the car safely to Arkansas and back. Maybe Tom J needs to give them another try - there seems to be an awful lot of "5 Stars" for Voegtle's - I know I'll never have to worry about car repairs/maintenance again now that I've found Voegtle's!

After years of being ripped off by my dealer, I am SO relieved to have found Voegtle's. I completely trust their work and their services and have no worries they will rip me off and tell me something needs to be repaired when it doesn't. The problems I have had with my car have drastically reduced since I have been taking it to Voegtle's and I would HIGHLY recommend using their services!

I've gone to Voegtle's for years since Joe Sr. I still get the same friendly, trustworthy service that has been consistent. They fix what is needed, their prices are fair and they do quality work. Thumbs up.

I've used Voegtle's since 1990. They are THE ONLY repair shop that's made me feel safe; that what they said was the problem was the problem and the charge for their service was fair. 19 years later nothing has changed... 'cept maybe me gettin' older... an' Joe Jr. too, I guess.

I used to have work done at Voegtle's but I no longer do because the quality of their work went down, in my opinion, and their prices went up some years ago. The business changed somewhere along the line. Also, they didn't back up their work and I came to feel that I was no longer a valued customer. In addition, they didn't fix the problems that I had my cars in for the last times I patronized them but they sure charged for not fixing them.

I have been taking our family vehicles to Voegtle's for over 20 years now. Honesty is what I know I will always get whenever I drop off a car or truck there. I have always been very pleased with their service and appreciate the fact that it is a family business. My grown kids now take their vehicles there and are treated fairly and like family. You can't beat the service and the prices are fair.

Long ago, Voegtles was a great place to take your car for repairs. But that was before Joe Sr. passed the business to Joe Jr. From then on, my experience with them has been terrible, to put it mildly. Here are a few of my experiences with them:

1) They replaced a clutch in one of our cars. It was the first clutch failure I have ever had on any car and it probably happened because my daughter, who had just started driving, must have been riding it. Voegtles replaced it and that one failed in less than one year even though my daughter no longer drove the car. Not only did Voegtles not stand behind it, but they had left the nuts off the front engine mounts and that's why the 2nd one blew. They never bolted my engine down!

2) I had them install a water pump. It failed in about one year. Water pumps should last longer than that but even though had been loyal customers of theirs for many years they told us, "tough." Joe Sr. would never have treated us like that. Ever since Joe Jr. took over, this is how it has been at Voegtles.

3) My car kept dying due to an electrical problem. Voegtles said they fixed the problem (and charged me a bundle to do it) but I found out that they didn't when it died for the same reason far from home on a tollway. I managed to nurse it most of the way home a few hundreds yards at a time till it would die again. Voegtles towed it to their shop the last couple miles but never even offered to cover towing even though it broke down because they didn't fix the problem correctly in the first place and had charged us for work we didn't need. Then they couldn't figure out what the problem was and had the car for about one week just sitting outside. I could see they were doing nothing so I looked in my factory service manual for the car in the trouble-shooting section and quickly figured out what the problem was. (It was a bad crankcase position sensor.) I told Joe what it must be. He didn't believe me and just scoffed at my suggestion. I guess he doesn't like anyone telling him his own business even when he can't figure something out himself. Then he called a few days later to tell me what it was - as if he figured it out himself. You guessed it! It was exactly what I had said it was. Then they over-charged us for the second repair and never even offered to give us a break for the work they had done the first time that didn't fix a thing. We had paid a lot the first time for absolutely nothing. Joe didn't care one bit! And, as usual, they charged many times what he retail cost of parts were.

4) When Joe Sr. ran the business, I referred many customers to Voegtles. It took me a while to realize that they had really gone down hill after Jr. took it over. One of the people I referred to Voegtles had their car picked up by them and taken to their shop. The kid who picked it up TOTALLED the car! That was the last customer that I referred to them. When Joe Sr. ran the business, people would thank me for telling them about Voegtles. But after Jr. took it over, people were angry at me for suggesting Voegtles.

5) I had a vibration in the front-end of my car. A teenage kid at Voegtles said ALL the wheels had to be replaced! If I had been gullible, I would have had them do it. It turned out it was just a bad tire. The plies had separated.

6) My daughter took her car there and they gave her an estimate for work that was approximately ten times what the going rate was for the job at other repair places and what they ended up paying someone else to do the work! My other daughter had a similar experience with them.

7) When my A/C got weak I took it to Voegtles for a check and recharge. It was an Ra134 system and I had been under the impression that you couldn't buy that refrigerant over-the-counter. The next time I was at an auto parts store, I found out that you could by Ra134 and that Joe Jr. had charged me about 30-40 times the retail price for it an that didn't include the labor.

In my opinion, Joe Jr. couldn't care less that someone is a long-time, loyal customer. He won't give you a break no matter what, from my experience. I think that greed is rampant at Voegtles since Joe Sr. turned over the business. Joe Sr. treated customers like family and he charged reasonable prices. Joe Jr. seems to think that his mechanics are brain surgeons and he charges accordingly. No matter how tiny the problem is with your car, expect to pay a minimum of $300 to $400 for something that may take 2 minutes to fix with no parts.

They screwed up on several more serious things but I can't remember them right now.

It really makes me feel bad to have to report this. I liked the Voegtles and was a loyal customer for many years (decades). But Joe Jr. just doesn't seem to care about customer satisfaction.

My "check engine" light came on, on the way to work this morning. Upon getting to work, I began calling local repair shops to see if I could get in on my lunch hour for a quick diagnosis. I got about 7 quotes ranging from $70-$129.99 to hook my car up to the diag machine for 5 minutes and tell me what was wrong - plus most wanted to hold my car all afternoon.

Then I called Voegtle. $30 for the diag, I was in an out in 15 minutes. They were able to tell me exactly what was wrong, quote me a price for repair, and were completely honest about the nature of the repair - which was something that was not an emergancy and could wait. Great overall experiance.

These guys are best for any car service-rotating cars, towing, tuning, oil change etc. They examine the vehicle thoroughly and only recommend what is necessary. They are also very fast and punctual and will deliver you the car back at the same time they promised.

PROS: Punctual, Not expensive

We found this place because it was next door to Phoenix Auto Body. Boy are we glad we looked next door. This is a family operation, in every sense of the word. As a customer, you feel taken care of like a member of, or a longtime friend of, the family. They are always reasonable in their rates and they are always above average in their service. I challenge you to find a better mechanic in DuPage county. You can trsut these folks.

When I lived in Chicago (until recently) I tried several auto care locations. Many took advantage of misfortune to overcharge for parts and towing, to recommend unnecessary repairs. Voegtle's is different. Joe and the rest of the staff treat you with respect. I've experienced them do more for much less than any other auto repair shop in Dupage County.
