5 Stars: Great place for a drink at 9pm on weekends (by Mark F.)

The Hungry Brain is the type of bar that you plan on meeting your friends at before heading out for a night on the town, but the bar is so good that you end up staying till 2am.
They also have a little concrete backyard.
Live jazz on Sunday nights with no cover.
I met Wim Wenders there one night.

5 Stars: Like a Friend's Basement With Beer Specials (by Emerson D.)

Once an almost-secret neighborhood hidey-hole, the Brain has gotten enough good press lately that it gets uncomfortably crowded on weekends, and some patrons don't know each other's names. This li'l blurb might get it "discovered" even more, but I'd be lying by omission if I withheld my recommendation. The staff is friendly and literate, the jukebox is arguably the city's hippest, the prices are low, and the atmosphere walks the line between artsy and divey without tumbling in either direction.

PROS: Low prices, great atmosphere, charming staff, diverse jukebox
CONS: Large weekend crowds, out-of-the-way location
