We left our dogs here for 4 days. This was the first time we left our dogs while we went out of town.

They were nice enough to let us come pick up the dogs before the 6:00 pm pick up time. However, the concern came in when I was told nobody would be there so we would have to get the dogs out of the fenced in yard ourselves! We were told that the kids come clean up the yard and play with the dogs whenever they want, but that nobody would be there at the time we wanted to get our dogs.

Maybe we had the wrong impression on our initial visit, but we assumed someone would be with our dogs at all times! That they would not be left in the yard with nobody around in case of a fight or injury or heatstroke since they were left outside all day (from what we gathered).

When we arrived sure enough all the dogs were outside and nobody was around. My husband and I have decided while this is close to home, reasonably priced and a great concept, the fact that we were told nobody was going to be there and that our dogs would be left unattended outside has left us dissatisfied and concerned for others and their dogs.

If you do not want your dogs left outside for what could be the entire day (there is no way for us to know for sure) then I would suggest you check into other local places.

We brought our 40lb dog there and we were told AFTER the visit she only takes larger dogs. She said my dog didn't eat for a few days (not due to her negligence, but the dog was afraid)... which is strange because my dog is VERY socialized (daily dog park visits) and gets along great w/all other dogs.

She has video cameras in the basement to watch the dogs when she's not down there (and they're still down there) which surprised me if the dogs are playing.. what happens if a fight breaks out? How long is it going to take 1 or 2 (part time help) people to break up a fight if you're upstairs and the dogs are in the basement?

It's a GREAT location and a PERFECT spot for boarding. It's a GREAT idea she has, but I think it could be a bit better run.

We called on a Wed for the coming weekend and she wouldn't meet with us because Tuesdays are her only days to meet new clients. She has appointments for newbies ONLY on Tuesday nights (not flexible at all.) We had a last minute appt. a few years ago and needed to go out of town. Is it too hard to keep the house clean ALL week? I'm not sure why it's only on Tuesdays. ... but obviously she still has business coming in.

I don't see it working well as other more flexible daycares open up in the area.

My dogs (two Labrador Retrievers) LOVED their stay at Aunt Colleens. I wouldnt leave them anywhere else for an extended stay.

The owner arranges a pre-boarding meeting with potential boarders just to make sure that they will be comfortable there and that the owners can have any questions answered before they book a vacation for their pets at Aunt Colleens.

We found the facility to be clean, fresh, and comfortable. There are no cages, no pet smell, but there are lots of happy, friendly pets.

There are plenty of soft places for pets to sleep, lots of fenced in areas for them to play, and the owners takes pets for long walks and swimming when the weather permits.

Theres simply no other place I would consider leaving my pets when we go on vacation.
