Lulu's has a really cozy atmosphere and it's just such a cute place. The food is good too, and I would definitely go again.

The food here was really good. They had a small selection of different types of asian dishes but the quality of the food made up for it. I would definitely come again!

Lulu's is a one of a kind! Every time I go to Lulu's I try something new and I have never been disappointed. The food screams freshness. I never leave feeling like I ate an unhealthy meal. I travel an hour to reach Lulu's great food. I wish they had more locations, because I would most definitely be a regular if they did. Always great!

My go to item at Lulus is the Bento Box because it has such a great mix of my favorite items: it has the ginger chicken salad, cold sesame spinach, sesame peanut noodles, an egg roll, a pot sticker, and their great dipping sauce. I always ask for extra egg roll sauce because I dip EVERYTHING in it! Besides the Bento, they have an all you can eat special on certain days/times that is a great value if you go hungry Id also suggest going with friends so you can split things and taste all the great flavors that Lulus has to offer. Now, if you are thinking authentic Chinese, this is not the place but for great asian-esq food with wonderful flavors check out Lulus Dim Sum and Then Sum in Evanston. PS - they also have awesome ice tea!

PROS: yummy food, good variety of items and flavors
CONS: noisy when busy

I officially give up on Lulu's. I have lived in the area for years, and have eaten there a couple dozen times probably. The service was OK, and now they have a new location, it is a nice casual atmosphere, but in the end the food is always wanting. The quality of the food is below average, in particular the meats and seafood in the dishes. The spices and flavorings always seem mismatched somehow to the point where it just doesn't work somehow. I had given up on it for a couple years, and then when a friend was in town and we were driving around I asked him where he wanted to eat, we were going by Lulu's, so he said how about there? I shrugged and said why not. There were three of us, and none of us thought the food was very good. I had something with chicken, and i think i found about 3 sad little scraps of chicken in my dish.

Worse, my wife had a piece of wadded up plastic wrap in her soup. It just isn't worth it to go to Lulu's when there are so many other good restaurants in Evanston.

Pros: Nice atmosphere

Cons: Crappy food

This very popular Evanston spot has gone down hill in its cuisine. The food was pretty fun and creative. The last time I was there the food was pretty lackluster. The waiter was disinterested. This was a meeting spot for friends, but we have moved elsewhere.

Pros: Variety of dishes

Cons: poor service

I went there and had a great meal with my wife. The food was terrific and the atmosphere was great and casual and very clean. We decided to split some dim sum which is like appetizers and chose p0t stickers, coconut shrimp, and the stir fried green beans. Each of these were the best I've had around. For an entree we split the szechuan chicken pao and it was sooo good. We decided to have dessert as well and we split the warm brownie with coconut gelato and it was the perfect end to the meal. The table next to us were eating ginger chicken salads. They were huge and they said that's what they've been coming for for years. We'll be back soon to try sum more..

Pros: good food, good service, good prices

Cons: so much deliciousness to choose from

If you want authentic Asian food this is not the place. (I doubt any place that considers them pan-asian can truly be authentic.)
I've eaten here several times before. The first few times I thought the food was really good. But I think the more I come here the less I like it. STILL, I would recommend trying their all-you-can-everything-on-the-menu but be sure to go there with no less than three people and no more than six people, otherwise it's not worth what you pay for. It's just fun to be able to try everything on the menu. Whenever you go to a restaurant you always wished you could try everything on the menu so here's your chance at Lulu's. I like their Chicken Ramen noodles and mussels. Stay away from their Pad Thai or Bibim bop-- really inauthentic.

Pros: You can try everything on the menu! It's good to try the first few times

Cons: Not very authentic Asian food, it gets old after going to this many times

LuLu's were the first sesame noodles I ever had and no place I have been since even compares. I now live in NYC and nothing here is nearly as good, so when I was back in Chicago last week I went back to LuLu's after ten years and was thrilled to see it thriving with sesame noodles as good as I remembered!

Pros: sesame noodles, veg food, cheap

Cons: weird servers, no asians actually work there

The chinese ramen noodle soup is the most MSG'd food I've ever had in my life.

If you're looking for the truly authentic, I wouldn't go here. But
if you like tasty, addictive fusion food, then this will do it. The
egg rolls, with spicy sauce, are my favorite, and their other
appetizers zing. If you're watching your waistline, be careful...
other than that, I adore this place.

Pros: price, food, decor

Cons: fattening, not authentic

Lulu's is perfect for families -- there are always plenty of kids in the place in the early dinner hours. The menu is somewhat confusing, though, with the dim sum option not clearly explained. Food is fresh and nutritious -- also reasonably priced.

Pros: Healthy food

Cons: Confusing menu

I go to Lulu's every other week or so because it is the best bargain around. The wide rice noodles are fantastic as are most of the dim sum items, especially the spinach and the coconut shrimp.

Pros: Inexpensive, Great food

I spent 14 years in Chicago before moving to Seattle 6 years ago, and I STILL miss Lulu's. Sure it's tiny and cramped, and the waitstaff act like they're God's gift, but Lulu's has the FINEST cold sesame noodles I've ever had! I've been jonesing all week for them, and have yet to find a decent purveyor locally.

Next time a travel to Chicago, I'll be sure to make a beeline to Lulu's. (I also miss dining to Elvis.)

Pros: Cold Sesame Noodles!, Eclectic tunes, Kitchy

Cons: Indifferent staff, Cramped

February 13, 2003

the food is just not prepared well. I can't believe this place rated higher than Phoenix in Chinatown. THAT's dimsum - good quality, and reasonably priced. The only thing that Lulu has going is the restaurant's interior deco. Other than that, the staff's not exactly friendly, the food mediocre to bland, and long waits.

Pros: deco

Cons: poor quality & value, crowded, long wait, not friendly

A wonderful place to go for Asian Cusine. Even non-oriental mavins will like this place.

Do try their Thai iced coffee.

Pros: Selection, Freshness, Friendly

Cons: Parking

July 30, 2002

I have lived in the Chicagoland area for 18 years and this has been the worst restraunt that I ever have eaten at... Perhapse it was just an off day, or the wrong time to eat there, but the food was terrible. Despite the apparent surplus of employees standing around, it took us five minutes to get a menu. There was a surprising lack of any asian flavor in any of the food despite it's claim to be an "asian, chinese, and japanese" restraunt. And what taste there was on the dish was oddly out of place and overpowering.

This is a lively, colorful little restaurant that has a varied selection and great flavors. The noodle dishes are satisfying, the appetizers are tasty and the price is right. Service is friendly and prompt, even when the restaurant is packed. The wait early in the evenings can be long, but things clear out as the night wears on. Street parking is a headache.

Pros: Great food, Inexpensive

Cons: Street Parking, Long waits early
